  1. I'm looking at this scope, & trying to decide between the BDC or the CQ reticle. I currently have the XTR 1-4 with the BDC. I have no experience with mil reticle scopes. I noticed the CQ reticle has numbers down the vertical axis. Do they correspond to distance like the BDC?
  2. Check thrift stores for a baby jogger. I cut the straps out of the seat, then put my Target Barn range bag in it. Mine has a nice flat spot over the front wheel for a small cooler, a compartment with a hinged lid on the handle that holds a box of ammo when loading mags, & 2 baskets underneath for rain gear, sweatshirt, snacks, etc. The wheels are bigger than a wagon, so it rolls easier.
  3. Or you could rebarrel with an STI S2 barrel/comp. It's all one piece, so no threaded barrel.
  4. I got an email from Linda that said the updated rules are posted. Does anyone know what has been changed? I've shot open the last 2 years, but am going to go tac optics this year.
  5. I learned how my dot tracked at speed by shooting Bill Drills on a steel A zone. Shoot only as fast as you can keep the steel ringing. If it doesn't ring, slow down, see what you need to see. Change distances. This taught me what shooting fast AND accurately felt like.
  6. Cameron, I've never seen single stack spacers that were not spot welded in place. I guess they could be fabbed up, but you'd need to change followers too then. I see you are in the Phillipines now. Not going to Rockcastle I take it.
  7. Man, I had a crush on Sharon Edington 20 years ago.
  8. There will always be those that take advantage of their positions, whether in the gov't, or in the BoD of a volunteer organization. Grab some popcorn, follow the threads here, on Doodie, and the USPSA Forum, and enjoy the show. Karma's a bitch, we all get what we have coming. Relax and go shoot something.
  9. I had cracked my comp, causing the exit holes to not be concentric with the bore. I noticed keyholing, then found the comp issue. My smith said he could ream the comp, but I had been looking for an excuse to rebarrel to 9mm anyhow, so I did. As suggested, check the comp to see if it is full of residue and clean out. Check the easy cheap things first.
  10. Have you looked at the STI Spartan?
  11. Because we are gadget people by nature. My wife has a belly laugh when she sees me reading about & shopping for Techwear shirts, Spikecross shoes, or the best hat to shoot in. It's nice to have a pocket for Barney mag at LAMR, but other than that, it's all show. But so is all the dress up in cowboy action. Different pants have some features that are nice, like the built in knee pad pockets, & the strap on 5.11 pants. I have a pair of Truspec 24/7 pants with zip off legs that are great for transition weather.
  12. Welcome to the Cmore! Fun, ain't it? Seriously, don't tighten the lock screws so tightly. And then check zero often, preferably before a match.
  13. Soon after Kimber released their first 1911 in the mid 90's using CMC MIM parts, CMC started selling those parts individually. Brownells used to carry all that stuff, & I remember the full page ads in American Handgunner. The barrels had a good reputation for accuracy. Unlike the safeties, extractors, etc.,the barrels were not MIM obviously.
  14. I've been searching, but not finding a lot. My open gun had a Serendipity before I went with a 90* mounted Cmore. So, I already have 3 Cmore holes on the right side of the frame. I'd like to try a thumb rest, but have not found anything except mention that the CRSpeed is available in left (Shooters Connection does not have any left handed ones in stock). Does anyone else make a left handed thumb rest that is compatible with my Cmore holes?
  15. We have the car alarm MB at our house too. They are fun for the first hour, then it's enough.
  16. Two threads below this one is a 2 page thread on this very topic, and a ton others found by searching.
  17. I got one at the first Rockcastle Pro/Am, before Colt was contracting them out to Bold Ideas. Mine has a Colt M4 receiver, Surefire brake, Geisselle 3gun trigger, low profile non-adjustable gas block. I guess the new ones come with the adjustable block with the knob sticking out the front. I swapped out the Magpul CTR stock for an ACE skeleton, added an ambi safety. I like the rifle, but it is still an assemblage of parts that I could have done myself. AR's are so easy, they're like lego's for adults. Buy good parts, get the proper tools and build it yourself.
  18. Brownells & Midway have the Metalforms. I'd suggest the Dawson/Metalform mag. Polished & an aluminum basepad that will work better in any magwell, especially the Ice. Only a few bucks more.
  19. The Sig & Para are both series 80.
  20. I think you just described the STI Spartan. It's only $100 more than the RIA Tac with better internals. I agree the Spartan is a better overall gun than the RIA but I don't know where you can buy one for $539. Just checked and it looks like the going rate is around $750. That's about $300 more than a RIA. For that much you can buy a magwell, 3 nice 10 rd mags, a holster and mag pouches and be set for IDPA. Sorry, I meant the Tactical II that has the adjustable sights and VZ grips. Just saw one on gunbroker for $579. Spartans are $650-$699. I got mine at Cabelas for $699.There are threads on 1911forum about Academy Sports selling Citadel 9mm's for $329. They are Armscor guns also. No Academy's around me though.

  22. Same with hard or rifle primers and light mainsprings, helps but not a guarantee.
  23. Might you be thinking of the Spartan, & not the Trojan? The Trojan is quite different from a RIA.
  24. In single stack major, it can happen more often than you think. 8 rds. goes pretty quick. You don't want to go to slide lock if it can be helped, but you are competing with other SS shooters who have to deal with the same stage design. You can't really compare a Glock to a 1911. It's like saying why cant I reload my revolver as fast as my open gun? Cause they are different. Try different techniques (sling shot the slide, shift your grip & get it with your thumb, weak hand thumb, etc.). Find something that is consistent & practice it. That's all you can do. I don't think extended slide stops are legal, but am not sure. They have their own problems with coming up when you don't want them to.
