  1. I concur a bit like people here in Australia talk about things being in the spirit of the match or giving the benefit of the doubt, unfortunately neither of those things are in the rule books
  2. Yes some did you can see them in the video, IF it was intended to be a vision barrier then it should have been made so that you can't see through it, as I said it's free style and they have at this point IMHO not broken any rule, if someone comes up with the WSB that say's you can't look through the screen walls and sight then they have broken rules but until then play on. No different to firing an unsighted shot through a port happens every match when the target is just below the port and close
  3. Yep I have a Springer loaded .45 with the fixed rear sight and a Techwell IPSC XT version fitted, I use Chip 8 rounders with the plastic base pads fitted and they needed a bit of work to make them fit but all good and love the mag well.
  4. I like your thinking BUT what did the written stage brief say? they all "fired "shots through the ports yes they may have not been looking but the shots were through the port. After all it is called free style and it's up to the shooter to solve the problem and I would say they did. As an IROA RO I have no problem with what I have seen in the video's.
  5. Watching some of the video's on FB and you know what, it seems to be that damn stage 22 there were 5 pages of discussion about that is at issue
  6. Not being a USPSA shooter so not familiar with the rulebook after the start signal does the 2"rule come into play on table starts in regards to magazines? In IPSC it doesn't but your equipment must comply. What I'm getting at is the dump pouch must be behind the hip as required but if you don't put anything in it it's ok. As soon as you put mags in it the would be in violation of 2"rule if that applies on table starts.
  7. Other than the magwell you should be ok I'm not sure about USPSA box size compared to IPSC box so you may need to double check that your mags will fit, what model techwell? The magwell can only be 35mm outside width IPSC Classic Division Supplementary Guidelines.pdf
  8. In answer to your question it would be equipment not apparel so therefore is subject to the 2" rule and would have to be worn for the whole match and not moved
  9. DDA have a new single stack magnetic pouch (not sure what you shoot if it's div legal) but I tried it and found the magnets not strong enough for my taste.
  10. IMHO the intent of the rule is that apparel pockets mean just that "apparel" ie- trousers or shorts pockets, or even jacket pocket IF the pockets on that are behind the hip. In IPSC on table starts they have opened that up a little in that after the start signal you can put them anywhere as you don't at that point need to comply to division requirement for carriage of mags.
  11. If you are talking Open division it doesn't matter if they are std magazine pouches or magnetic they can be forward of the hip but still must be within 50mm.
  12. Sorry BeerBaron you are wrong all of your gear must be compliant if you are shooting Std Cls or Prod your magnets or pouches must be behind the hip and within 50mm if you're using it or not. IPSC Rulebook 5.2.10 In some Divisions (see Appendix D), neither the handgun, nor any of its attachments, nor the holster, nor any allied equipment, can extend forward of the line illustrated in Appendix E2. Any such items a Range Officer deems not to be in compliance must be safely and promptly adjusted, failing which Rule 6.2.5.1 will apply. " the rule in IPSC (which allows magnet as pouches but stipulates gear must be behind the hip "At the start signal") is once buzzer goes off you can grab mags and stick to a magnet that is infront of the hip as it's after the start sighnal. you onlu have to be divisionally compliant "at the start signal'. not sure on USPSA. better check the rule book. there are quite a few differences. "
  13. When you say S&A type do you mean 2 piece as in mainspring housing and magwell? If yes then for what brand of double stack? Dawson Precision do them I believe and S&A do them for PARA's
  14. Well that's just put an end to 5 pages of guff then. Sorry for you loss
  15. thats where the designer/builders need to put in a manual activator ie: a rope
  16. Not range lawyering at all, I don't shoot USPSA I shoot IPSC in Australia so I don't have a horse in the race . I'm just trying to get the answer the same as everyone else. But again in your comment in regards to 9.9.3 you are referring to moving or disappearing targets not moving hard cover. I understand the concept of a no-shoot moving in to place over a target and covering it at rest and agree that 9.9.3 applies, the issue I have is the HC and it's scoring effect on the stage.
  17. Kevin try the Safariland Custom fit Model #568. It works for me
  18. 9.9.3 Moving scoring targets will always incur failure to shoot at and miss penalties if a competitor fails to activate the mechanism which initiates the target movement. This includes no-shoot targets that must be activated when in front of scoring targets to expose them, penalties are based on number of shots required for the scoring target(s) behind the no-shoot. How does this apply to the Stage at hand? Hard cover is not a target.
  19. Been there done that one Not enough practice with a new holster and very shortly afterwards went back to bucket style
  20. We had a similar stage at our National Championships a few years ago and we learnt a lesson about using velcro, cut it to size and don't allow it too long as guys gamed the stage by having the velcro loose and were able to get their strong hand far enough over.
  21. SuperDub The problem as I see it is that the targets are not actually moving, so they really don't fit into the scoring of a disappearing target rules ( 9.9). What the designers need to do is have an auxiliary method of restarting the HC, if your scenario occurs . The targets which if not shot are I'm presuming obscured by the first PP prior to activation of the hard cover.
  22. of course it does it's about course design and getting shooters to shoot in different arrays and positions. It's not all about gaming stages, people spend a great deal of time designing and setting up stages as soon as someone comes up with a novel idea people try to game it.
