  1. We used to have this happen a fair bit where ( new) guys go out and buy a gun, then want to shoot it Production only to find out it's not approved. Then they blame IPSC ( I'm not saying you're doing that triple) instead of checking first. It happened a couple of months ago just before our Nationals when the CZ Shadow 2 was released and people wanted it to be able to be used in Production, alas it hadn't been approved, and people who knew better still had to blame IPSC.
  2. When I had my Spartan 9mm I used Wison EMT for a couple of years with no issues, I have just replaced the Wilson's with Tripp as on a number of occasions I had catastrophic FTF/ FTE in stages and couldn't finish. Hopefully the Tripps will solve the issues I had. Using a Dawson IPSC or another option is the Techwell they have about 4 models to choose from, if your handy with a dremel tool you can DIY your favorite grips or buy some of theirs as the grips are used to hold the magwell in place.
  3. The Trojan comes ready to rock. With the Dawson package?
  4. get another Bladetech with a BOSS hanger
  5. Absolutely easier to load a hicap but they were the Classic pistols of the day were they not? What I'm sort of getting at is the name of the division, if they wanted just 1911's then it should have stayed the classic design, and allow extremely limited accessories ie: S&A size magwell, (or none) no rail, iron sights ( no fibre). As I said minor accessories.
  6. The fact that it's called Classic and under the rules they must be a visible resemblance and have the 'features and contours' of the "1911" design, which unfortunately they have already altered by allowing rails. Personally at inception of "Classic" I would have allowed the wonder 9's of the early IPSC year's also but limited them to 10 rounds (same as minor PF)
  7. if you were to allow full length dustcovers you have just recreated SS/limited, no where near Classic I already have a few issue's with what's allowed and not allowed but as it is it's my Division of choice.
  8. don't know where you get that info but very unlikely to happen in Classic division
  9. got one of those on my Springer RO
  10. I found that a few times with my Wilson ETM's and decided to go Tripp. I t was happening at the most inopportune times so it frustrated the bejesus out of me and spent the $ on the new ones.
  11. I think i went through about 10 different sets of either VZ or Techwell grips before I got what I wanted, no shop front sells the range over here and it's a matter of buy try and sell on.
  12. I've not heard of any really aggressive metal grips but the Techwell dual-tech are pretty good they sent the aluminium one by mistake so sent the G10 as well so I have both the G10 are more aggressive in my opinion.
  13. pics of my RO with the Wilson std bases and the Dawson fitted
  14. I use a Dawson IPSC and am using 9mm Wilson mags I have put dawson mag bases on as the Wilson bases are either too short to remove if a mag gets stuck or are too long to fit the IPSC box with the sights I have on my gun. I have also used the magwell on my .45 with CMC mags with the plastic factory bases and they don't require any mods.
  15. I have 3 that I choose from,1 is a Safariland 568 custom fit on the USPSA hanger kit or Boss hanger, 2nd is a Comptac International on a BOSS hanger, 3rd is a JR micro which we can use in IPSC Classic. Don't really have a preference of the 3 just how I feel coming up to the match.
  16. Bit of a gap between grip and magwell there on the RIA
  17. You can't arbitrate the DQ itself thats more than likely why the RM wouldn't allow you to waste your money. What you can do is arbitrate that what you did wasn't unsafe and unfortunately with a 180/90 you can't. What the RM did was save you money. In IPSC video can be viewed by the RM / CRO but is not used as evidence. The biggest problem with video is that it is usually captured from a different angle than what the RO called and also the other RO was more than likely in a different position also.
  18. What are the little bubbles on the slide?
  19. IPSC Compliant SP Techwell weighs .6 oz. IPSC Compliant TGO Techwell weighs .6 oz. IPSC XT weighs .95 oz., IPSC Compliant Carry weighs .4 oz and finally our Original XT Techwell weighs 1.2 oz. Techwell weights http://techwearusa.com/techwell/ Just be aware you need their grips or a dremmmel tool
  20. what size is the egw magwell? I'm guessing S&A sized. I f you want a larger style try the Techwell TGO
