  1. I use a wheeler and it works great. if i remember correctly, i think the torque spec on the plates are 15 inch pounds. the optic is whatever the manufacturer recommends.
  2. So when it comes to accuracy, it may be just a barrel thing or it can be the lock up. Like another person said before, something is out of spec. It could be a lemon of a barrel or there is too much play in the barrel and the slide when the slide is down. I'm only assuming these because you said that you had other people shoot and had the same results. One thing I know about one of my p10 f's is that it really likes hotter ammo. mostly in the 132-135 PF range with 115's and 124's. I'm able to get 1.5 to 2 inch groups off a rest at 20 yards. I blame the inconsistency on the shooter(me). The p10f's I have are pretty picky on seating depth on certain bullets. If you reload, consider increasing PF? Had you reached out to CZ? if it is out of warranty, may consider getting an aftermarket barrel. I hear that those are amazing.
  3. What powders and bullets do you have? I have data that can be helpful.
  4. Looking at the link you sent us, I see that they say it is compatible with the shadow 2. Although they should fit per the description, it think that 16 rd are not the most ideal for fitment. I was looking through the reviews and cannot find where people used it for CZ Shadow 2, recently. It may be worth sending them back. S2 mags could be available in the classified in this forum at a decent price. I got some second hand super used magazines for my S2 and they work flawlessly. I wish you luck in whichever direction you choose regarding the magazines you have.
  5. I know that the SRO is one of the more popular optics out there. I see it in the trade forums on FB and other places all the time. People selling them or people buying them. It seems that SRO is on top of a lot of people's list. Why are we seeing so many people wanting to sell theirs? Have you sold yours, if so what did you move to? I haven't gotten an SRO but I've been curious about this for a while. I personally used an RTS2, a couple DPP, and now I'm running the Eotech EFLX.
  6. Are they 17 round tubes that can only make it to 16 because of the flat base plate? Typical CZ Shadow 2 mags are 17 rd tubes with a plastic base plate or some may come with an extension of the 17 rd tube to make 19. If this is a 16 round marked tube, you have a mag that may not actually be compatible. Can you send us a link to where you got them? I am afraid you have purchased this magazine by mistake.
  7. I have tried the HBI system and the Apex. I now have a combination of both in my match gun. HBI is a good trigger system but be weary with their striker springs. I had one completely turn into spaghetti in the middle of a match. I know someone else had the same thing too. I use the HBI shoe with the Apex backplate. I use the factory striker spring and still get a nice 3.25 to 3.5lb trigger pull. That's my preference on that type of gun. HBI is a really good choice if you have large-xl hands the apex trigger shoe that comes with the apex trigger kit will be good for small up to large. Yes I know there is overlap in that, but you can go either way for reach if you have large size hands. I hope this helps.
  8. So I'm running into this situation with my gun getting stuck in the holster on the draw too. I had to change the angle of my holster by adding a couple washers as shims. So tightening up the holster helped?
  9. How do you like that Eamann Tech spring kit? have you noticed better performance?
  10. Update: So I decided to take about 30 9mm casings and put some small rifle primers in them. I figured if I can get it to set off rifle primers it should set off most of anything else. I loaded Murom brand and worked my way down from the 13# to see if they would just set them off. The 13# set them off really well. I had a couple light strikes with the 12#, and then much more with the 11#. Worked my way back up to a 12# and still had the same light strike rate and then back up to 13#. Again, 13# with 100% success. So I went to an indoor range shortly after and had a "practice" session and set off about 200 rounds with 100% success on the 13# with two different types of primers, I think the practice rounds I was using had rifle primers in them. So I'm going to still with the CZC 13# for a while until I decide to spend the money on extended firing pin and spring. Hopefully I will have just as good results at my match this coming weekend! Thank you all for your help and the starting point! -I hope this helps other people in the future who are looking for this info!
  11. I'm primarily using reloads. I have various primers that are in use. Federals for the most part. I'm with you when it comes to reliability. I'm not a total trigger snob, there is a point that is too light for me.
  12. New S2 OR owner, not new to CZ. So I'm having trouble finding much more information out there so I thought I would go ahead and ask with this post. Which mainspring weight are you using to lighten up the DA and still set off all primers reliably without getting extended firing pin spring? I bought a CZC calibration kit and have a good range to test. But in an effort to save time and money where I can, I thought I would check here for a starting point to see what your results are? I understand I may not get the same results as you but any info will sure help me out and potentially others in the future searching for the same info.
  13. I had the red fiber on there. In my first match with this I was bothered with two red dots, one being the fiber, in my field of view. I cut it out during the match. after a couple stages I still noticed the front sight post. It annoyed me so i elected to take it off after the match.
  14. New Shadow 2 OR Owner, not new to CZ platform. So i took off my front sight post after my first match with this gun for CO because it was bothering me. Went to indoor range today and noticed the barrel bushing walking out. silly me forgot to put the cross pin back in place. Is it absolutely necessary for me to have the front sight post back in or can the bushing and the pin stay in place just fine without it?
  15. I was thinking about getting some Match Winners for my Shadow 2 any of you tried the 124 Match Winners an S2? I see they have a 135 gr option too.
  16. I appreciate everyone's input. It does make sense that if it is there, it is there for a reason. Knowing that this was built for competitive shooters in mind, we tend to put a lot of rounds on our pistols and it is probably wise to include it. I'll rock the thin ones for a while to see how I like it. Thanks everyone!
  17. New Shadow 2 OR owner. Not new to CZ. Just curious if anyone of you run your s2 without a buffer. Shooting CO in USPSA. my ammo runs about 135 pf. what are your results?
  18. Please see attached of what I was able to load with RMR bullets 124 gr FMJ. 9mm Major. the 3n37 and 3n38 are compressed loads.
  19. To start, read forum threads here and look at online articles. From there you can see what are most popular and proven and also what are some new powders that are gaining popularity, like Shooters World Major Pistol. Pay attention to where they land on the burn rate chart. For example, Titegroup is not a good choice because of quick pressure spike. Winchester Autocomp and a couple other powders around it on the burn rate chart would be suitable for Major. Slower burning powders are most popular like AA7, Shooters World Major Pistol, 3n37, and 3n38, and Silhouette. To get major in 9mm, you may encounter compressed loads. Please use a chronograph and keep an eye on your signs of pressure on your cases. Please be mindful of your OAL because this greatly impacts pressures when loading 9mm for example. Look what other people are loading and work your way up to those. have fun and stay safe!
  20. I never had experience with that brand of ammo. But, I do have experience with a tanfo gold custom. if they are anything alike, avoid all jhp or flat nose, especially in mbx mags. Constant nose dive issues. I know you stated you dont have time to roll your own. Sorry i cannot think of a 9 major fmj producer at the moment.
  21. I've had really good experience with my old school DAA racer mag pouches. My wife's rig has the newer DAA Xi-P and they are very nice. All of them hold 140's really well. When I was running open, I had 3 mag pouches on me with 140's in them and started the stage with a 170. I also ran a magnet. That's all, I know there are people that liked to run all 170's but that was too much weight for me to lug around My primary mag pouch was at the 10:30/11:00 position and my other two were my "oh crap mags" at 9:00 & 8:00. I like to keep my magnet at the 12:30/1:00 Don't know if all this helps. Some food for thought.
  22. I don't know what your experience is with other open guns, so please forgive me if this is info if you already know all of this.. .Have you had a chance to reach out to Gilbert Perez with GP arms? If anyone can give you guidance, he can. I don't have a BUL open gun but I did have a tanfo open gun that hated hollow points and did this exact thing. I had to switch to round nose and forced to use factory mags with 140mm base pads. it would work round with 5 -10 rounds in a magazine but it failed with full 170 mags. When it comes to hollow points, it is a hit or miss if an open gun will like them. It may need a different hollow point. For example, Rocky Mountain Reloading MPR's(JHP) and Montana Gold JHP have completely different profiles. The tanfo liked the Montana gold better simply because it had a more pointed nose and goes up the feed ramp better. How does it work with round nose?
  23. If you like it and it works really well for you, keep rockin it until you break it. I have a DPP and had an RTS2 on my primary and back up CO gun. I find myself liking the DPP more. Nice window size and I can take off the metal shroud and still be within warranty limits. I emailed Leupold to find out. What drew me to the DPP more is that it has the LIfetime Warranty(follows the product) as the RTS2 did not. I don't know about the FTP Alpha but I think they are close to RTS2 in build. The quality is there with the DPP. No doubt about it. You won't be disappointed. The only thing I don't like about the DPP is that it only has one button for brightness adjustment. Really is not that big of a deal because i usually go for brightest setting since I primarily shoot outdoor matches. Build wise I like that I don't really need any tools for adjustments or replacing the battery. I can use the head of an empty case to make adjustments. Battery is good, I leave it on all the time and it has shake awake. Haven't changed the battery in many months.. DPP overall is really good. I recently bought another one used for my back up gun.
  24. So I finally purchased the Apex kit. Awesome results. I already had the OP and HBI Products. my primary P10f had the HBI trigger shoe with red spring and OP striker. I was getting around 3.5 lb trigger pull. I replaced the HBI trigger with the Apex trigger shoe, installed Apex disconnector, and installed Apex plate. I have the same set up as you now. Apex kit, OP striker, and HBI red spring. I'm getting 2.75 lb trigger pulls on my wheeler spring trigger gauge! So far so good with initial tests of firing off empty cases with primers only. It still sets off Winchester SPP just fine and I tested CCI Small Rifle Primers and another Russian SRP with equally good results. We will see how it goes with more testing. If this works, I'm going to this with my back up P10f.
