  1. If the barrel was shorter you wouldn't have room for the rail.

    Beware of dog

That's some mighty thick dogs you have there.
  3. Something I have said for 30+ yrs: I don't care if the front sight (or dot) goes up and does a figure 8. What's important is that when the gun cycles and everything stops the sights are right where they were when I squeezed the trigger. Never understood the concept of "watching the sight lift". If I did that I would already be late to the next target. Once the hammer is released there is NOTHING you can do to change where that bullet goes. So be sure of your sight picture BEFORE you squeeze that trigger and get your eyes to the next target. So how do you get it to return to point of aim? With a firm but neutral grip. Don't try to choke the shit out of it. Don't try to "hold it down". Grip it firmly enough so the pistol doesn't slip in your hands when it fires and make sure you have an even pressure with both hands.
  4. Closed my PB account with a nastygram telling them what I think of their service.
  5. What is the lightest recoil spring I can run in my Kimber 10mm? I have been considering increasing the mainspring but how low will that allow me to go with the recoil spring and not beat it to pieces? Anyone have experience with it?
  6. All that and Affleck's portrayal of a man with autism and the story of how he overcame it to be reasonably functional was amazing to say the least.
  7. For me cost was and is not an issue at all. For me it comes down to this: I can buy a production gun, go to the range and shoot well and it would be satisfying. It is 10X more so shooting well with a gun you built yourself and ammo you built yourself. But that's me. Some people would rather spend the money and buy a custom shop gun and brag about having the latest greatest Atlas, STI, Nighthawk. Nothing wrong with that. I just prefer to do it myself.
  8. Not really a big fan of Ben Affleck but this movie may have been his best. Playing an autistic accountant for a lot of bad guys when everything goes pear shaped. Well scripted and well acted. And the action sequences hand to hand and gunfights were realistic and believable. Ok, For the most part. But it was a pretty good flick.
  9. There are also a couple dozen videos on youtube. The combination of the books and seeing it done in videos is incredibly helpful.
  10. Not extremely long but.... I used to shoot IHMSA matches with my Dad and we often practiced together. One day at the range, as a last test before packing up, we set up a shootoff target (half size chicken at 220 meters) and made a bet (who buys lunch) on who could hit it first from standing position. Dad shooting a Contender in 7mm TCR and me with my Dan Wesson 44V10. Dad hit it on his 2nd shot but just grazed the tail and turned the plate half sideways. "That's a hit!" he says. I said, "That doesn't count in a match. It's still standing." "Well, I'll go double if you can hit it in 5 shots." He grinned. I adjusted my sights 4 clicks up, lined up on the leg and picked a rock straight up from the leg and just over the top of the head. I squeezed off the shot and saw the chicken spin then fall just as the "clang" got to us. He muttered, "I hit it first." "Yeah. But I knocked it down. And I only got half the target to shoot at." "So... Where am I buying lunch?" Still the best shot I ever made.
  11. I heard a while back they were going to break it up into 3 or 4 spinoffs but haven't heard anymore about that since.
  12. I'm an excellent judge of bad taste, inappropriateness and offensive. (I've been called all three lots of times) PM it to me as well.
  13. Sig Super Target Martinized. Replaced the grips, the GI spring guide/plug with a full length and Wolff spring, extended mag release and did a trigger job on it. Got the trigger down to about 3# but I think the Series 80 stuff is preventing me going farther and keeping it reliable. Takes a lot for a production 1911 to impress me. This one did. Frame/slide fit is exceptional as is the barrel fit. Did pretty good at the range before the mods. Now it's better.
  14. Anyone addicted? I just spent two weeks watching it from the beginning again. I think it was about S5 that I decided John Snow and Danerys needed to hook up. Ok, yes, they are blood relatives, but in season one they told you the Targaryans wed brother and sister for centuries to keep the bloodline pure. I think Danarys is going to be pregnant again. Did anyone besides me notice last season, while Sam was studying books on dragon glass, right under the map of Dragonstone was a sketch of a dagger? A dagger that looks identical to the one used in an attempt to kill Bran and is now in Arya's hands? Something else to watch for in the next season.
  15. This is what I have preached for more than 25 years. Pick a platform and stick with it. Shoot it until you are so intimately familiar with it that you can put the sights on target with your eyes closed. If you are constantly changing platforms you will never really do your best with any of them. As for the advantage over dry firing.... Using .22s you can't lie to yourself about where the sights were when you squeezed the trigger. Being accurate is what it's all about, right?
  16. Meant to mention before; When you take it to the range wear an old shirt and bring some shop towels. Oil and graphite will start leaking out and making a mess. I've used this treatment on several 1911s and even use it in the lockwork. The result will astound you. Besides everyone needs an excuse to shoot more.
  17. Your biggest problem is not going to be slide/frame fit. The real problem will be finding .22 mags for the 2011 frame.
  18. Nice! Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. Lugs don't look too bad. As ling as there are no sharp ridges sticking up you shouldn't have any problems. I'd like to have a CZ75 myself, if I can find a SA version or get parts to do it.
  19. I'm burning holes in the targets with my eyes. I see the sight, whether iron or dot, for 1/1000 sec as I squeeze the trigger. If you are seeing your sights lift, you are already late to your next target.
  20. Only time I had elbow trouble was many years ago shooting IHMSA. .44 Mag and 7mm BR from Creedmore position starts to hurt after about 60 rounds. Shooting all tree classes in one day usually left my right arm useless the next day. Even with a pad the elbow took a hell of a beating.
