  1. I'm a skeet shooter by trade and used to be very diligent not to allow too much lead or plastic wad residue to get built up on my chokes. I was talking to a guy who rarely (if ever) cleaned his gun and I told him he had to be tightening up his pattern by allowing all of that junk to build up in the chokes. He disagreed so we tested the patterns. We patterned his gun dirty, then cleaned the chokes thoroughly (needed an electric drill with a bronze brush) and patterned it again. The pattern from the dirty choke was almost imperceptibly smaller - certainly not smaller enough to worry about. I was surprised, but he was right. I don't know if this experience directly addresses your question about shooting slugs because we didn't shoot any. However, lead or plastic built up in the choke is what's going to cause a difference in the pattern, I don't think it really matters whether it was deposited by a slug or regular bird shot. Also, we conducted the test with skeet chokes - I'm not sure if the results would change with tighter chokes but I doubt it. If you test your shotgun the way you described in your post, I doubt you'd see a difference but I'd be interested in the results.
  2. Here I thought I was the only one who used STOS. I got a container of it with a P/W shotgun reloader and used it on guns for many years.

    410

Shooting .410 can make you better with all of the other gauges as long as the gun fits the same as your others. A weight relatively close to the other gauges is also beneficial. Lots of .410s have been cut down to kid-size and those are very difficult to shoot well...
  4. I shot a Beretta 682 Super Sport 28" for many years and tens of thousands of rounds. Never a malfunction of any kind. Eventually I switched to a shotgun with slightly heavier barrels to slow down my swing a bit. I still love the 682 but now it feels a bit "whippy" to me. As Kalaybuster said, if it fits and the balance feels good to you, it's hard to beat a 682 for the money.
  5. Can you say how it compares to an STI Edge?
  6. Only 9mm Gen 2s had 2 pins, the .40/.45/10mm Gen 2 had 3 pins. And some early 9mm Gen 3s and 2 pins Yep, I guess so. I just saw two Gen2 three pin frames for sale in the classified section. I stand corrected!
  7. I have a JP PSC-11 upper, 18" medium contour barrel with the heat sink which results in a rifle balanced perfectly for me. I run a relative light scope (Burris) so if I add a heavier optic it may get a bit nose heavy. If it does, I may remove the heat sink to try to balance it out again. I really don't think I do enough continuous firing in three gun matches to make the heat sink necessary. If I were doing continuous mag dumps like some of the carbine courses out there do it would be more useful. I think you'll be very happy with this rifle as you've described it. I had a couple of Bushmasters and a Sig before I took the plunge for the JP. The difference in performance is amazing - I love my JP!
  8. Also, Gen 2s had two pins holding the trigger, slide release, etc. Gen 3+ has three. http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1418527

    Monkey Bump

You said it! Giving your product a name like that takes courage!
  10. There's no question you can build a great trigger by selecting your own parts. However, I didn't want to do a lot of trial and error so I went with the DK. I definitely agree that once you get something you like that works - just shoot it!
  11. I have a DK Custom trigger in my model 17 and am very happy with it. Pre-travel and over travel are minimal and I didn't have to adjust anything - I just installed the trigger and left it as-is. I'm a three gun guy, not USPSA, but he claims his triggers are production legal.
  12. I bought the TTIs because he extended a discount for Benos forum members - I figured that alone was worth giving him some business. Having said that, I'm very happy with the TTI basepads!

    Monkey Bump

Does anybody know what this does? http://www.advantagearms.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=AASOS&Category_Code=Monkeybump It sounds like it adds some spring tension (resistance) right at the point where the trigger breaks…at least that's my guess.
  14. Send me a PM, I'll get you taken care of. Hey any chance the deal can be extended for other Enosverse folks? I just picked up a G35. Yup, just throw me a PM. Sent a PM a while back but didn't get a response.

    Magpul GL9

That was the problem with the Gen 1 mags is they were inconsistent. The feature for them to be retained in the gun if still loaded was requested by the Austrian military. Really? Was that to keep somebody from accidentally dropping a loaded mag? I would think the mags would have to have at least a few rounds in the magazine in order to be retained. I can't imagine the polymer shape changing enough to stay in the well when loaded.

    Magpul GL9

I have some of the Gen 1 mags that won't drop free even when completely empty so they are all but useless for competition. I certainly hope Magpul wouldn't sell mags like those!
  17. That trigger looks great - well done!
  18. How about when shooting minor? Do you notice the same increase in flip with the lighter slide? Has anybody who has a lightened slide on a 9MM noticed any difference in how "flat" the gun shoots?
  19. Santa brought me a DK Custom trigger set for Christmas and I'm very happy with it. I like the decreased pre-travel and lighter, crisper break of the trigger. I've only put about 150 rounds down the barrel but this is a big improvement over the original!
  20. Another satisfied customer here - I love the 2.8!
  21. This is interesting! I've heard lots of criticism regarding the Gen 4s - different components, "weird" feel, etc. I'm glad to see there's so much support for the Gen 4 in this group.
  22. I've seen the ghost connectors but it looks like most other vendors offer the other parts "connected" to the connector. Is everything else unnecessary? I'm assuming changing the connector won't affect the amount of pre travel in my trigger. For those recommending only changing the connector, is the pre travel not an issue for you?
  23. Hello from Panama City! I am a longtime lurker as well. I try to make the 3-gun matches at both Dothan and Tallahassee.
