  2. Everyone who thought PO was a stupid idea is butthurt because the BOD approved it. Everyone who wanted PO is butthurt because of the weight limit. It is what it is. Let's go shoot.
  3. Phil Strader's post to Facebook now on the USPSA Facebook page. Carry Optics has definitely created some buzz among our membership. As is the norm with social media, there have been some inconsistencies and misinterpretations of the "why's" surrounding this new provisional division. As was pointed out publicly, " talked with S&W, Glock, and Springfield, and that they were not going to continue to support us at the same levels, largely due to the perception that their guns were no longer competitive in Production." I have indeed talked with a number of representatives of these companies, and there are concerns that Production has become a division that cannot remain realistically competitive without a heavier pistol. As the trends have undoubtedly been favoring the heavy, metal framed pistols (some refer to them as Limited Minor pistols), their concerns are valid. With that said, some of these manufacturers have mentioned lessening their support of USPSA (not just at Nationals). Do I think that we would loose them completely? Probably not. Do I see a validity in their argument? Yes. The spirit of Production was to allow a place for entry-level shooters to be competitive without having to spend Limited/Open equipment prices. Production Division was intended to comprise of carry pistols with carry equipment on a somewhat level playing field. The intent was sound, but many have argued that the division was not restrictive enough. My greatest fear is that the majority of Production Division will become exclusive to only a handful of manufacturers. Another public statement was that I "urged the BOD that these manufacturers and Sig were very interested in this division, and would continue to sponsor because of it." The facts are, I have spoken to a number of manufacturers and other companies, and most are very interested in the viability of this division. It is my OPINION that many of them would support USPSA in it's effort to get this division off the ground, but I can't speak for them with regards to their sponsorship. I would never mention companies or contents of private conversations on a public forum, BUT I believe that many of them will stand behind our efforts. Carry Optics is intended to address the growing trend in lightweight carry pistols with slide-mounted optics. The weight limit is there to maintain the spirit of the division and to ensure a relatively level playing field. Nearly every company that currently offers a Production pistol makes additional models that would meet the Carry Optics criteria AND remain competitive. This division was not only intended for the hard-core Production shooter who wishes to give up on iron sights and fit an optic to their slide (not that I personally think there are many of these people out there)...it was also approved to give some of our competitors a place to go who need to transition to a red-dot sight but don't have the money to spend on competitive Open equipment. Historically, USPSA has mandated division specifications, then challenged industry to keep up and build a better toaster. We are now presented with a unique opportunity to respond to an industry trend that could be the new norm for CARRY pistols. I would ask that our membership give this division a chance as it stands. If the BOD receives constructive feedback from its members and helpful input from the industry, it will be able to make informed and thoughtful decisions about the direction Carry Optics should go. Hope to see you on the range!
  4. Vlad, no major changes from 2014. Heavy metal can now neutralize a target with 1 round of handgun or rifle anywhere however handgun mags are restricted to 10 rounds, rifle mags no change (20) and shotgun no change (no more than 9 at the start). No heavy irons this year only heavy optics. Thanks for posting. Looking forward to this match. What's the word on mag extensions in TacOps? Okay to have extensions but only load to 30 rounds? Edit: just noticed you posted the rules. I will review there. Thanks again.
  5. I understand that challenge. I wonder how many people this applies to. Many seem to borrow mags or have some otherwise available when traveling to one of the free states.
  6. Why would mag length even be a factor, if the capacity limit is 10 rounds? Do we really care if someone wants to use a 33 round mag with ten cartridges loaded in it? Just one more dopey and redundant thing to check...... Loading only 10 hasn't been an issue for the current Production rules. I don't see how only loading 15 would be any different.
  7. Increase to 15 round capacity before going live?
  8. The slide was fun. Ball pit at the bottom this year?
  9. Let me just say that sandbag grip add ons should not be legal in TacOps/Practical division. I don't understand how they were deemed to be legal in the first place since they obviously elevate the muzzle and should be restricted to open. Even then, it looks like some competitors in TacOps/Practical who are using them may be only putting them on their guns for particular stages. The action of reconfiguring what is bolted to your rifle is also not allowed outside of Open/Unlimited. Can the rules please be clarified to limit the bags to Open/Unlimited?
  10. Jesse, how is the TRL-1 for long range stuff? The price looks to be very good.
  11. Can anyone point me to a thread on what to lights and/or lasers work best for this? Guess the biggest question is going to be laser versus dot for various guns.
  12. In extreme cases I have also seen medical tape used temporarily
  13. If you can find one then you can modify one of the older style flat P250 TDLs to work with the P320. I wouldn't be surprised to see those offered from the factory a an option in the future. I have seen someone else grind the stock one flatter. I have started riding my support hand thumb on it so it helps me more than hurts.
  14. It would need to be specifically submitted to NROI in that configuration since the threaded barrel has a different length and contour than the ones that come on the gun currently approved in Production Division.

It's an alloy frame. The combination of the CZC trigger work and the CGW parts made for an excellent trigger. Only thing better might be the Shadow Compacts but I think those are even more rare.
  16. I have done this and have a bill for a new hammer to show. Hold the trigger in and manipulate the hammer back and forth with your other hand. Watch the sear to ensure that with the trigger fully depressed you don't see any up and down movement of the sear.

This is my Compact L with lots of CZC and GCW upgrades. Great gun and perfect for CCP or EDC but I plan on listing this in the classifieds soon since I have moved to a different platform for competition.
  18. There is an IDPA rule forbidding you to disable a slide lock. I can find it if needs be.

CCP follows ESP rules for the most part.
  20. I recorded this quite awhile when I was trying to help someone else with grip issues. Might help. Bottom line is I make it a point to ride my strong hand thumb off on my weak hand now.
  21. When you are off of the clock and you insert an empty magazine can you pull the slide back and have it lock without having to manipulate the slide lock? It's still very possible that you have some inadvertent contact with the slide lock that is prohibiting it from functioning reliably. I had that problem with my Glock 34 until I changed my grip placement.
  22. One or the early Ben Stoeger YouTube PPS shows goes over the PPQ. It had Ben, Matt Hopkins, and Candice.

You can try asking Dawson or Springer. Having measurements will help. How high are you now at 70'? I can give you an estimate of at least how much taller your front needs to be.
