  1. Dulles is closer (IAD). If you have to fly into Reagan National (DCA) then it's not too bad either as Reagan is just inside Virginia.
  2. The more I shoot other multigun matches the more I appreciate how well last year's FNH match was run. Looking forward to this year's match.
  3. I would suggest abolishing the words "factory configuration" from all of the ruleset as it causes way too much confusion. I also like the idea of the 3GN Factory division but think they should have gone a bit further. Pistols should be DA first shot or striker fired. Perhaps no lightened bolts or something.
  4. I put one of these on some cheap 45 degree offsets. Seemed to do the job. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001AQRUCO/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1433285409&sr=8-3π=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=Ar15+fiber+front+sight&dpPl=1&dpID=31i%2BXrqOTvL&ref=plSrch?
  5. Really? You have plenty of certified ROs, CROs, and RM standing around but no one certified running shooters? It's better to have them NROI certified and it is recommended for Level I according to Appendix A1 but not required. The non certified RO with the timer has more authority than the CRO on the sidelines at a Level I.
  6. Correct on the second account. The authority to DQ has nothing to do with certification.
  7. Although I don't have a hard fast rule to point to for this one, at a Level I match there are two ROs running the stage at any given point and time: one is holding a timer and the other is holding a clip board or Nook. These are the two people who are authorized to issue commands (including stop) and penalties. It is my opinion that everyone else's call (outside of the RM) doesn't count. Not to say that they cannot advise the ROs but it's the ROs' call.
  8. As I understand it the RM only gets involved as a point of escalation after a call has been made by the RO/CRO. Otherwise you need to be the CRO/RO assigned to that stage, running the shooter or scoring to issue commands. At a Level I match there is no requirement for the RO assigned to the stage to be certified and no special authority provided to certified ROs not assigned to that stage (Certification is recommended for Level I but not required per Appendix A1). Notice the requirement here to issue a stop command: "8.3.5 “Stop” – Any Range Officer assigned to a stage may issue this command at any time during the course of fire. The competitor must immediately cease firing, stop moving and wait for further instructions from the Range Officer." I would argue that if I am not even on that squad then I am not assigned to that stage and I have no authority. That doesn't mean I am not going to tell the MD/RM about it. If I am ROing someone and someone from another squad stops my shooter and interferes with the stage 8.6.2 and 10.6 could apply. "7.1.1 Range Officer (“RO”) – issues range commands, oversees competitor compliance with the written stage briefing and closely monitors safe competitor action. He also declares the time, scores and penalties achieved by each competitor and verifies that these are correctly recorded on the competitor’s score sheet (under the authority of a Chief Range Officer and Range Master)." "7.1.2 Chief Range Officer (“CRO”) – is the primary authority over all persons and activities in the courses of fire under his control, and oversees the fair, correct and consistent application of these rules (under the authority of the Range Master)." "8.6.1 No assistance of any kind can be given to a competitor during a course of fire, except that any Range Officer assigned to a stage may issue safety warnings to a competitor at any time. Such warnings will not be grounds for the competitor to be awarded a reshoot." "8.6.2 Any person providing interference or unauthorized assistance to a competitor during a course of fire (and the competitor receiving such assistance) may, at the discretion of a Range Officer, incur a procedural penalty for that stage and/or be subject to Section 10.6." If I was the RO in this case and I didn't see it happen then I am issuing a reshoot under 8.6.4. "8.6.4 In the event that inadvertent contact from the Range Officer or another external influence has interfered with the competitor during a course of fire, the Range Officer may offer the competitor a reshoot of the course of fire. The competitor must accept or decline the offer prior to seeing either the time or the score from the initial attempt. However, in the event that the competitor commits a safety infraction during any such interference, the provisions of Section 10.3 may still apply." "7.3.2 References in these rules to Range Officials (e.g. “Range Officer”, “Range Master” etc.), mean personnel who have been officially appointed by match organizers to actually serve in an official capacity at the match. Persons who are certified Range Officials, but who are actually participating in the match as regular competitors, have no standing or authority as Range Officials for that match. ..."
  9. Looks like a nice rifle. Don't change a thing for now. You should be just fine shooting it as is for the time being. There aren't as many piston guns in the game but it will work fine. Don't worry about barrel length or anything for now. Eventually you should look at getting a new trigger, select a good optic (if you want to shoot tacops), and perhaps get a more efficient muzzle break. A new stock could also be a nice upgrade but falls into that nice to have category rather than need to have. Don't change anything though until you get a feel for the game.
  10. I really enjoyed this match. Thank you again for your hard work and dedication, and stepping up to make the calls that no one wants to have to make.

    Sig P320

Scott Springer was running the CR Speed pouches with the P320 at the Oregon State match and said they work well.
  12. Quick rules question. Why does the rifle safety need to be on when the chamber is empty, and what will be the penalty if the gun is empty but the safety is off? I did note an exception for firing the gun until it locks open but I could see this additional step of having both an empty gun and requiring the safety to be engaged as something that could trip a lot of people up.

Sooner rather than later most of the SIG team is going to be using the Blade-Tech competition mag pouches. At present a couple of the guys I know are running CR speed. I will have to ask how well that is working out for them. M&P extensions seem to fit so I wonder if carriers designed for those would work? Ghost is also a popular choice for the bullets out folks and there is a safariland 771 pouch that works. I can get that number if you need it. I have some DAA Race Master pouches that are nice but required modification of the thick inserts. I had to sand a bit off of the back and side inserts (which are sold separately) and then they worked perfectly. I am running Red Hill Tactical pouches (local guy who does some nice kydex work) with different styles for Production division versus 3 Gun. my 3 Gun pouches have more retention and are on ELS clips.

    Sig P320

Had a stage in a local match today where all mags had to be on the table. Unloaded start with one reload. Unless the table is nice and flat the PAE base pads didn't want to sit with the back of the mag down toward the table. They kept falling over. They need to have a small flat spot filed on the back of the base pad to be more stable. Just my two cents. That's why I got the ones that don't have the extra wing in the back. I also didn't want the extra wing knocking into the other mags on my belt but they certainly look nice.

I haven't tested it. Lots of P250 holsters do seem to work for the P320 so it's likely a good chance.

    Sig P320

Speaking of base pad options I just heard from Robin Taylor tonight who said that his +0 base pads for the P320 are now available in black or zombie green. http://taylorfreelance.com/blog/?p=575 I am testing out his +5 extensions right now. It looks like with the springs that he includes I need to remove a bit of material (about 3/16 of an inch from the lower, outside portion of the follower) to get that reloadable +5. After that it works as advertised and still locks everything back. I am also playing with some CZC springs and followers from TS that are giving me +6 in those extensions after some not-all-that-easy modifications to the Grams-style CZC TS follower. I will be running them at the USCA 2 Gun Nationals next weekend and can report back on functionality but so far everything looks good.

The guide rod adds about 0.5oz so you should be just fine. Also remember that the stock base pads are about 0.1oz so you can subtract that and you are likely only adding 1.8oz or so. I have found that I can add about 2.5 oz before reaching the 31.4 oz limit for a P320 in Production. The approved Production gun list has the P320 at 29.4 oz but stock mine was closer to 28.9oz giving me a bit more room to add weight. Your mileage may vary.

    P320 Full Size Mags

I posted a cheaper than dirt listing as well but on further inspection they looked like first gen P250 magazines that have the alternative base pad. No go there.

  21. Who made Production GM with a 320? Mason Lane and A.J. Stuart are both currently awaiting Production GM cards based on shoot classifiers with the P320. I can let you know when that becomes official but it should hopefully be on the next classifier database update. If not then than it will be soon as these guys are outstanding shooters. Until recently Mason, who is a Junior shooter, has actually been shooting a stock P320 to win overall at local matches and compete at a high level in IDPA. At this year's IDPA Indoor Nationals he was high Junior, Second SSP Master and received the Most Accurate distinction for the entire match. Looking at scores combined across all divisions it looks to me like he would have been fifth overall behind Vogel, Nils, Wright, and another guy. He now shoots a P320 which as had trigger work, sights, and recoil system tuned by GGI.
  22. I can appreciate this but I signed up for the match when it was advertised as a two day match. Furthermore a few weeks ago they seemed to be at less than half capacity so my assumption (perhaps incorrect) was that the schedule could be adjusted based on the actual number of competitors who will shoot. I hope they they have more now and either way I am looking forward to shooting the match.
