  1. I have owned many benelli's and love them, but use a 1301 for 3 gun. Both will work great for both home defense and 3 gun. However for home defense the beretta holds 2 more rounds than the benelli. Obviously you can run an extension tube to make up for that.
  2. When your worst fear is dying and your wife selling your stuff for what you TOLD her you paid for it
  3. I buy 55 gain hornady's. Either boatail FMJ's or flat base soft points. I prefer the boattails for ease of feeding in my hornady lock-n-load as I don't have the bullet feeder yet. I buy them in 1,000 count lots and usually have them shipped to my door for under 10 cents a round. It is a little cheaper if you buy in larger quantities
  4. I shoot an xt trap for trap. I have used it once for sporting clays as I had never shot sporting before. It was ok for sporting, but it would be terrible for skeet. Mine has 32" barrels. For trap I love it, I can shoot really well with it
  5. I had one for my wingmaster that I started 3 gun with. They are ok. The clamp is really cheap. I would splurge for the Nordic because you can modify the tube length. Most people don't, but it is nice to be able to make it longer or shorter. I bought a +4 Nordic for a beretta and then added a +2 on the end of that to give 12+1. Plus Nordic is a huge supporter of 3gun
  6. Thanks for the input guys. I am sure I would be happy with it. Anyone know if you can buy just the upper? I don't really need the lower unless I just sell my whole gun, which I planned on keeping the lower. I looked at their website and was unable to find anything on just an upper.

    Glock magwells

I just received my Carver a couple days ago after replacing a cheap plastic one I bought earlier. Overall I really like the Carver, but have only played with it while dry firing and a few mag change practice drills. I like that it comes with a brass plug for a little more weight. And it does funnel nice. I'm happy overall, but have no experience with the other brands which I am sure are all nice as well.
  8. Anyone shooting one of the Colt Competition CRP 18's? I am looking to upgrade my 3 gun rifle and one rifle I have not seen much of is the CRP 18. I have been able to put my hands on one and I was really impressed. Anyone with first hand experience able to weigh in? I know JP is one of them most preferred and I am strongly considering it but I want to hear what people have to say about this rifle. Thanks in advance
  9. I use a G34 for 3gun and just placed an order for my first carry gun. I ended up ordering a M&P shield in 9mm. A couple reasons I went with the shield is that it is a slimmer profile for me as I am not that big and feel I will conceal it a little better and be more comfortable. Second reason it is found it online for $345 shipped to the FFL. I have held them and I like the way it feels for a carry gun,
  10. I received a stage DQ last fall at one of my first 3 gun shoots. I had a very mentally challenging stage that required not shooting specific colored targets based on a colored block picked up at the beep. I started with the rifle, cleared the targets and instead of putting the empty gun in the barrel, I went ahead and put it on the table where my shotgun was laying. As soon as I picked up the shotgun I knew what I did, and the RO called a cease fire. I should have put it in the barrel instead of the table as I was going downrange from the gun after dumping. Was a dumb mistake and I actually just came from a stage that required the dumping of the rifle on a table to pick up the shotgun. I felt like an idiot, but it clearly wasn't the first DQ the other shooters had seen. They told me there are two types of people, those who have been DQ'd, and those that are about to. At least it was a stage DQ and I was able to continue shooting.
  11. One thing I really like about the 1301 is that it has the adjustable stock length. I just put in the 1/2 inch spacer to keep it a little short. I feel I can shoulder the gun a little quicker, and I don't catch the buttpad on my shirt by my armpit when shouldering. Anyone else keep theirs short?
  12. I put Dawson sights on a month or two ago after running factories for a few months. I was OK with the factory sights, but my accuracy improved about 50% by putting on the better sights. The factory rear sight ran out of adjustment for me and was shooting about 6" high with the sight maxed out. I find the dawsons to be much quicker to pick up on target. And the competition set has an accuracy guarantee. I didn't need to send in for a different height front sight as they are right on. My only issue and it was my own fault is that I didn't have any locktite and I forgot to put it on at a later time and the front sight dang near fell off in the middle of the shoot. Dumb mistake. I have since applied locktite and carry the wrench in my range bag. Good luck!
  13. I also use a 34.I Put on Dawson sights, DK trigger, carver magwell and Arredondo base pads. 9 mm is cheaper to shoot, especially if you don't reload. I use 55 grain 223 bullets and whatever cheap shells I can find for my shotgun as I have no reliability issues
  14. Thanks for the input guys. Seems like synthetic oil is the majority consensus. CLP has been OK for me, but would like something a little thicker. Thanks again
  15. That's an excellent idea.
  16. I didn't realize there were footwear designed towards 3gun. I went the cheap route and bought a pair of under armor baseball cleats. I will have to look at the others and try a pair out
  17. My cousin had a clip break, got a replacement right away also
  18. I have had this happen at a couple shoots now. I shoot a stage and don't get to walk around to physically see the targets. I ended up getting FTE's when it should have been FTN's. I recently had a stage where I was dinged about 20 extra seconds because of a scoring error. A lot of new shooters at these events who frankly don't know the difference yet. I need to do a better job of asking my score as soon as I am done shooting or walk around with the RO and look at the targets.
  19. I am in the same boat, I can't remember anything from a stage unless something out of the norm happens like a gun malfunction.
  20. I like having better shooters at matches, gives me drive for improvement. Also makes it more fun when I beat one of them.
  21. I strong hand for deuces and quads, and weakhand with the old style load 4 method
  22. another vote for the 18" Nordic. Or you can get a Stag 3G barrel for $200
  23. Wondering what concoctions people are using for bolt carrier lubrication. DPMS told me to use CLP, and don't scimp when applying. Just wondering what others use. I have heard of people using red lithium grease or other brands of oils, and even some that mix the two. Just want ideas. Thansk
