I called GSI a week or so ago, they said they should be shipping in Jan. The bullet feeder consists of a new tool head and an electric bullet feeder. The web site claims the feeder will hold more than 200 bullets. How many more, who knows. The feeder on the ghost holster site uses an MA feeder. There are several different models of these feeders. The comercial ones hold around 500 9mm size bullets, but they cost around $1500.00 Obviously this isn't the one in the system. As to which is the better on, Who knows but the GSI unit costs $795.00 and the other is over a grand. You get what you pay for, but not always. Huston

I was on Snopes.com looking for somthing else, when lo and behold. The Chistmas light display was there. They also had the display to another song as well. They didn't say for sure if it was real or not, but still cool. Huston in Austin

Howdy All, I called GSI last week and was told they are planning on a Jan shipping date. The price is going to be 795.00 for a RL-1050 set-up. Didn't ask about the XL-650. Before I got my bench set up, I put a 2 layer 3/4 in plywood top on a work-mate and had both an RL-1050 and A XL-650 mounted back to back. I put a shelf on the step at the bottom and kept bullets and brass on it to add stability. Worked for over 2 years. Huston in Austin

The Dec 2003 issue or Handloader magazine has 10 pages about loading the 627 38 super. Howdy, One group uses the cylinder and slide ultra lite hammer, one the super match hammer and the other uses the koenig hammer. The names of the group indicate which hammer is used, I think. Huston in Austin

You don't need any tools. Just take the grey plug out and it's a 17 round mag. I think the dremmel may get you over 20. Also Midsouth Shooters Supply has Hornady and Federal 17 Mach 2 for 4.74 a box. Huston in Austin

Dawson has a bo-mar copy w/ fiber optic or tritium for that matter, if you prefer that sight. I used the DP sight because it didn't require the millimg to install. Huston in Austin

Dawson dropped the Dawson Jarret because of the Power extractor. Dave doesn't like it at all and won't work on it. Huston in Austin

I've got a Les Baer open gun. Have had it for more than 10 yrs. It is very Accurate, however reliability is another story. It developed a problem with the hammer following after 6 mo. or so. Called LB and was told it was my problem 'cause I must have changed somthing. It also wouldn't hold a trigger job. It also would fail to extract/eject a case every now and then, when the various rimless supers came out it it got much worse. Sent it off to a couple of other 'smiths to do various things, had EGW change the comp back in '96. Finally had Dawson look at it to figure out the extraction/ejection problem. He found it was built with an oversized breach face. In fact it would be oversized if it was a 40. So all in all I wouldn't have another Les Baer if it was free. Just my opinion, Huston in Austin

Howdy, I had a 550 a while back. Ended up replacing it when the 650 came out. In the last 3 mo. I had the 550 I broke 3 cranks. The last one in less than a week. I asked for an RMA for the second one I broke so I could send it in and see if they could figure out what was wrong. Before I got it sent back I broke the third one. I ended up emptying out the powder and making sure no primers were in it and, after calling Dillon, sent the whole thing back. I don't know what they ended up finding out, but I already had the 650, so I sold it to a Action Pistol shooter that was suffering with a Lee 1000.( He was shooting a couple thousand rounds a week and the Lee was killing him. As far as I know he is still using it. ) When the 550 got back it looked like they put my handle on a new machine. I think they replaced just about everything and repainted the frame, even cleaned the powder hopper. Dillon is GREAT. They have even supplied parts for my ancient 1050 ( aquired 2nd hand ) under warranty. Huston in Austin

Howdy, I had one many years ago, late 80's time frame. Lots of fun, but I didn't like the fluted chamber. I actually locked it up once using some Frontier (Hornady) 147 jhp ammo. It formed the brass into the flutes of the chamber. Other than that it was accurate and reliable. I had both the fixed and colapsable stocks and liked the fixed much better to shoot with. Howdy, I had a C-More that killed batteries quickly. It was an old scope and had the origonal dot module. The LED was going bad and drawing down the battery. I replaced the dot and now batteries last a long time. Huston in Austin

Howdy, One place you can get them at a good price is Botach. I know they are a pain to deal with, but I've gotten batteries from them before without problems. The Energizers are 2.95 each. You can get the Sanyo CR1/3N for less. They come in a pack of 10 for 19.95. Huston in Austin

Call Dawson with the problem, they make different hight sights. If they don't have one ready they can make one to your specific need. Although they have a big order for DOD they are working on now so it might take a little while. Huston in Austin

Use loctight 620 ( green ). It is very strong stuff. It won't come loose unless you use a torch. Have fun. Huston in Austin

Hey, You want oil change stories. I get my oil changed every 2 months. That usually means anything from 5 to 12 k miles. It takes 14 qts of oil and I can't afford to change it every month. Huston in Austin, and every other place in Texas that has a road to it.

I've got a 99 F-350 crew cab long bed with 7.3 l powerstroke and a 140 gal aux tank. Did front brakes around 125 k miles rear brakes around 205 k miles, but ond roter went FUBAR and had to be replaced in less than 30 k miles. Truck weight is around 7000 lbs or so, current miles just short of 1/4 milion. Brake life makes absolutly no sense at all. Oh and truck has an auto transmision. Huston in Austin

I just recieved (today) a mainshaft for my 1050 from dillon. I bought my 1050 used and have had it about 4 years.I also told them it was bought used. I got the shaft at no charge. The no free parts for used machines is not uniformly applied. This is also the first part I've needed. Y'all have a good weekend. Huston in Austin

I've got an old 1050 and haven't bought 38 super comp brass in a while, but I don't have any of the problems your having. I just tighten the shell plate so it indexes smoothly. The 223 shell plate is old as well. I bought the whole package from an indoor range that was closing. I do have two 223 shell plates but have only tried one of them. Do make sure the nylon adapter is in place on the case feeder. I do get some newer super comp brass 'cause I shoot with a bunch of people who either don't pick-up their brass or they loose lots, Shred is usually good about finding his brass but Chet usually looses a bunch

I know MasterCam and other CAD/CAM programs don't work very well with an ATI video card. They seem to work best with the NVidia cards.

Just thought I'd through my .02 in. I've watched Dawson build lots of pistols. Open, Limited, Single stack and 2011. Every slide to frame fit is done by Dave from over size slides and frames. You can tell the differenc between a factory fit and a custom fit even if you didn't know the difference before you will after you rack the slide on each. Huston in Austin
