  1. I had the same issue. It mainly had to do with the height of the press. Try raising and lowering your press or bench to a height that feels better. My issue went away when I changed to the Ergo roller handle by Inline Fabrication, which allowed me to start higher and not have to pull the handle as low. Looks like they only make a roller handle for the SDB. You may want to try that and use case lube.
  2. A lot of people like Salomons for outdoor matches. What are some good shoe models for indoor matches?
  3. It was an issue with the powder measure. I was dropping 32.1 grains (10 drops) at setting #16 on the micrometer. I only use Titegroup and load 9mm, so nothing changes much on my 550b. The last 30 or so times I measured before loading, it came out to 32.1 grains every time. I was very happy with the reliability. After my PF went from 130 to 138, I checked the powder measure again. This time it was at 33.1 gains at setting #16. I had to go down to setting #13 on the micrometer to get back to 32.1 grains. That much of a change effected my accuracy at 25 yards. I was bench-rest testing for POA/POI at 25 yards again because my rear sight had come loose. The 138 PF loads were hitting about 3 inches low at 25 yards. I happen to have a few 130 PF rounds left and tested them too they shot POA/POI at 25 yards.
  4. My small bar and micrometer was accurate for a while, but has drifted up a little at the same setting. I went from 130 PF to 138 PF. The Dillon small bar is on the edge at 3.1, and the Arrendondo goes down to 0.7 grains. UniqueTek even advertises it as more accurate: "will meter down to 0.7 grains (with Win 231) and they meter very small powder drops more accurately than the Dillon extra-small powder bar."
  5. Has anyone found better powder drop accuracy from using the Arredondo Powder Drop Slide with Micrometer? The Dillon small powder bar is rated for 3-20 grains, and the Arredondo from UniqueTek is rated for 0.7-15 grains. My Titegroup loads are about 3.1 and I was wondering if the Arredondo can provide better accuracy than the Dillon small with micrometer.
  6. Are Federal Small Pistol "Match" primers better than standard Federal SPP?
  7. I guess the Ghost pouches are legal if you use the standard configuration? Edit: Maybe not: "8.6.2. Magazine Carrier Rules - Magazine carriers must: 8.6.2.4. Cover the entire outer face of the portion of the magazine inside the carrier. The outer face is the side away from the shooter’s body."
  8. I don't think Ghost pouches are legal either: "Question: Are the Ghost 360 magazine pouches which carry magazines in a “bullets out” configuration allowed in IDPA? Answer: No. “Bullets out” magazine pouches protrude from the belt considerably more than normal magazine carriers and are not suitable for all day carry."
  9. I thought CR Speeds were not legal for IDPA? As long as it passes the dowel test for you and you don't have the giant tension knob on the outer face of the carrier it "shouldn't" be illegal. Can anyone confirm that the CR Speed Versa Mag Pouch is legal for IDPA if the adjustment knob is removed or reversed?
  10. Forgot to say that I shoot IDPA and Production, so mag pouches need to be legal for both.
  11. I have been having trouble with getting my mags out of the mag pouches during a match. I switched over to a CZ from a Glock 34. I really liked the Comp-Tac holster and twin mag pouch that I used with my G34, so I ordered a set for my CZ SP-01. The holster is working fine, but the mags will bind unless they are pulled straight up. I was reloading on the move during a match and pulled so hard that the entire twin mag pouch came off my belt. I wear a CR Speed EDC belt, which does not have much give. It keeps the angle of the mag pouch slightly inward. I also have a Wilderness Instructor belt, and the issue is not as bad but still happens. If the mags are pulled at a slight angle (any direction), they will not come out. If they are pulled straight up, they come out fine. This is not a adjustment screw issue, as they come out very easy straight up. I never had this issue with the Glock mags. I'm guessing because they are plastic and the Mec-Gar mags are metal. The obvious answer is to re-train myself to pull the mags straight up, but I would rather adjust the equipment if I can. Is this just a CompTac issue, or does anyone else find this with other brands? Anything I can do to the mags or pouch that will fix this?
  12. Are there any good Magazines for the Shooting Sports, besides Front Sight and Tactical Journal?
  13. EGW U-Die (made by Lee), Dillon powder die, Lee seater, Lee FCD.
  14. When doing the "thumbs forward" grip, I've heard instructors say to lock your wrist tendons of the support hand. Are you supposed to concentrate on forward / down pressure at the top of your thumb / palm area? Or concentrate on pulling down / back with the bottom / blade of your support hand?
  15. What makes the CGW sear better?
  16. I shoot both IDPA & USPSA, so I like my setup to be legal for both and the same: CR Speed EDC belt Comp-Tac International holster Comp-Tac single mag puches with Tek-Lok
  17. Does anyone feel that the type of hearing protection you wear effects your match performance? Examples: Wearing ear plugs block out the noise and helps you concentrate better during a stage Wearing electronic ear pro keeps your hearing acute and helps during a stage
  18. Occasionally bumping it up during the draw. Not sure if its my strong hand index finger or thumb doing it.
  19. Thanks Stuart. I have two questions for you: 1. Is it possible to have a safety only on the left side (nothing on the right side)? 2. Is it possible to mix & match (shadow on left, thin on right)?
  20. I'm not diggin the ambidextrous safety on my CZC SP01 Shadow Custom. What other safeties are available that are Production & SSP legal? Preferably left-side only. Thanks!
  21. I'm wondering... how many of you use the fiber optic for POA, or for finding the top of the front sight to use as the POA? I've heard some people say they use the fiber optic like a red dot optic and it is faster than trying to use the top of the front sight.
  22. They add 1oz, but when you take away the weight of the stock basepad - you should be fine:
  23. I can confirm as well that the Springers work on the MecGar 10-round mags. Lining up the post is a little tricky but it works.
