  1. Some of us in Communist States are stuck with 10-rounds. Because it has made us sooo much safer.
  2. Here is the response I got from the MD: "We banned video some years ago, for a number of reasons. We were looking into liability insurance, and both attorneys and insurers recommended that we no longer allow video of live shooting. There were also safety, match equity, and privacy issues that we thought important enough at the time. We will have photographers at the match, and competitors will be provided with a password for viewing the pics post-match."
  3. Thanks Stuart. I have a SP-01 Shadow, and was thinking of getting a SP-01 as a backup. I wanted to set them up the same with CZC Comp sights.
  4. Does the front sight need to be a different height for the same POI, using the CZC competition rear on a SP-01 vs a SP-01 Shadow?
  5. Here is the new registration link: https://clubs.practiscore.com/blade-tech-presents-the-western-idpa-championship/register
  6. I ran about 150 rounds through, and the changes I did made a big difference but did not completely eliminate the problem. I had powder spill on the shell plate for 2 of the 150 rounds, which is much better than every 10 rounds or so. The powder that did spill was minimal.
  7. Well, I have done a lot of searching the Interwebs on this issue. Some people think it is static buildup. Others think the powder expanding die is sticking to the inside of the brass. Some people think the powder is bridging in the funnel. This gave me an excuse to buy a Dremel I will let you guys know if it fixed the issue, but here is what I did: 1. Dumped all the powder back in the bottle 2. Cleaned the hopper, powder bar etc. 3. Bought a tapered reamer and tried to ream out the funnel, but didn't get too far 4. Bought a Dremel, sanded and polished the powder measure bowl (22273) 5. Grinded the bowl of the powder funnel (13806) 6. Polished the bowl of the powder funnel 7. Polished the tip of the powder funnel (didn't really need it, but why not) 8. Sanded the area where my electrical ground contacts the press
  8. Scenario: The squad behind you has finished their stage and they are waiting for your squad to finish your stage, but your squad still has several shooters that have not shot yet. During the stage resets, shooters from the other squad start walking the stage, taking sight pictures at the shooting positions, rehearsing etc. Does this happen at your local matches? Is this acceptable at your local matches?
  9. I thought it might be something else too. The flare/belling part of the funnel is smooth, shiny and polished already. I was reading that some people who wet-tumble have the case sticking issue, but I dry tumble in lizard bedding with a little nu-finish. I also use One Shot case lube.
  10. Are we talking about the outside or inside of the funnel? The flaring/belling part looks pretty clean:
  11. Recently my powder drop starting spilling powder onto the shell-plate every 10 rounds or so. This is not from indexing the shellplate - it happens during the powder drop. I have not made any changes to my setup. I only load 9mm and use TiteGroup. Others have said this might be from static electricity buildup, so I recently ran a ground wire from a nearby outlet to the press. I have also tried wiping down the press and hopper with used dryer sheets. Neither of these have made a difference. My 550b is about 8 months old and I have about 7000 rounds through it. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? Here are some examples: Video:
  12. Registration is now open for the Blade Tech 2015 West Coast IDPA Championship - "The Western". Sacramento Defensive Pistol Shooters is hosting a Tier 4 regional IDPA championship on Oct 3-4. The match will have 14 challenging stages, and be shot over 2 days. They are anticipating 250 shooters from across the US. We will again have great prizes including 4 Dillon Loaders, several handguns, and certificates to Front Sight, including a Diamond membership. They will also have great awards. Blade-Tech has agreed to be the title sponsor, which means lots of great holsters, mag holders and belts for the shooters. They are also receiving sponsors gifts daily. 13. So basically, unless the shooter says it was on purpose - PE only?
  14. This is a hypothetical. The shooter did gain an advantage, even with the 3 second penalty. There are vision barriers in front of most targets. Shooters have several transitions left to right, and have to lean out to make the shots. Shooting the stage without priority is definitely quicker.
  15. Sorry - 9 targets. I will edit the original post. The experienced shooter knows tactical priority very well, and purposely shoots them out of order to get a better time including the 3 second PE. The FTDR rule states: "The FTDR is intended to be used solely as a penalty for deliberate attempts on the part of the shooter to circumvent or violate the competition rules to gain a competitive advantage."
  16. Scenario: Standards type stage, where the shooter does not move and shoots all targets from the same position. There are 9 targets that the shooter has to engage in tactical priority (near to far), and they are setup in arrays like this: 2, 4, 2 1. Correct engagement would have the shooter switching back and forth from right to left (or vice versa), to shoot them near to far. An experienced shooter gets to the line, and decides he can shoot it faster by engaging all targets left to right and taking the PE. FTDR worthy?
  17. I have a Dillon 550b and during my last session of 200 or so 9mm, I noticed the powder was spilling onto the shell-plate every 10 rounds or so. I started cleaning the powder (Titegroup) off of station 1 so I can determine if it was from the powder drop or indexing. Sure enough, it was happening at the powder drop. Any ides on how to remedy this? Thanks!
  18. Mec-Gar finally got back to me, and said that the 17-round and 10-round Mags use the same spring. Now I have this question - does the Mec-Gar magazine need the 5% or 10% spring from Wolff? From the Wolff website:
  19. I was hoping they used the same spring as standard, so I can order the Wolff springs.
  20. Because I live in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, I am limited to ordering "safer" 10-round magazines. I have several of the Mec-Gar 10-rounders for the SP-01 Shadow and will need to replace the springs at some point. I have already contacted Wolff Springs, and they do not make replacement springs for this magazine. The 10-rounders look very similar to the MecGar Standard magazines, except for the indention that limits the follower to 10 rounds. Does anyone know if they use the same spring? I have emailed Mec Gar twice about this and did not receive a response.
