  1. I guess the point I'm trying to confirm is fast Alphas are easier with guns that have Comps to reduce recoil, Optics for fast target acquisition, Magwells for easier mag changes etc. - compared to Production guns.
  2. this Sorry, I edited it to clarify. Not level of competition - ease of shooting Alphas fast.
  3. Is Production the most difficult division in USPSA? (besides revolver) Not level of competition - ease of shooting Alphas as many points as you can fast. Open you have Optics & Comps - making it much easier to shoot. Limited you have short, light single-action triggers and all kinds of mods allowed. Production allows very limited mods, scored minor and 10-round mags. What say you?
  4. It was definitely an alignment problem. I loosened the 2 allen screws under the shellplate and rotated the platform clockwise a little, and put everything back together. The cases now line up with the sizing die and don't tip when then go in like in the video. I made about 100 rounds at a pretty fast pace and had no issues.
  5. Thanks Brian, I tried that and the case does not seem to line up. It hits the die and goes in at a slight angle as seen in the video above.
  6. Could this also be an alignment issue? This is my 550b in Station 1:
  7. I centered the dies by lockng them down with all 4 stations full and handle down. Is there a better way to do it?
  8. Every so often, my Dillon Powder / Expanding Die will flip the lip of the brass over on one side. Anyone know why this is happening?
  9. So you just heat up the grip tape, apply it and let it cool?

    Holster Wear

I'm not just shooting USPSA, so I do care.
  11. The ball on the handle is about 1" lower than my nipple when all the way up.
  12. When I stand in front of it, the handle is lower than my shoulder. I can complete the stroke standing without bending over, but my elbow is locked out at this point. So for ergonomics, I should raise my press or try loading seated?
  13. Thanks, but not going to happen. I need to find a way with my 550.
  14. I've started to get some pain in my upper shoulder ever since I started reloading. My setup is this: Bench is 33 1/2" high, Dillon 550b with Strong Mount, standard ball handle. I load 9mm and use Hornady One-Shot case lube. I'm 5'10" and have been loading standing. No pain while reloading, but I feel it later - especially when moving heavy objects. Are there any positions (seated, standing) or other things I can do to help alleviate the pain? Does the roller handle help with this? Thanks.
  15. Is silicon carbide allowed in Production? Maybe that is what you were thinking of.
  16. 8.2.1.3.6. A slip-on grip sock and/or grip tape, skateboard tape, etc. may be used. 8.2.1.3.16. Stippling and texturing may be performed on readily replaceable parts of the grip frame such as replaceable back straps and replaceable grip panels. Wouldn't silicon carbide be texturing?
  17. Unfortunately SSP does not allow that.
  18. I bought the Dawson Precision Gen4 Grip Tape for my 34. It fits well and lasted a few weeks, but now is starting to come loose. I cleaned the frame with rubbing alcohol before I applied it. Dawson ships 3 sets, so I have another I can put on but are there any tricks to getting the adhesive to stay? How can I keep the grip tape from coming loose?
  19. What do you guys think of the UniqueTek Powder Baffle? Waste of money unless you have the 2X Powder Hopper Tube? Or does it help powder drops to stay more consistent on the standard hopper tube?

    Holster Wear

I just checked it in the holster - it goes in pretty loose and starts to "lock" into place when the gun is about 80% in. If I make it any looser, the gun won't stay in the holster.

    Holster Wear

I have a Comp-Tac International holster for my G34. I have had my G34 for almost a year. Is this normal holster wear?
  22. For those that chose a 13# spring over an 11# spring - was it reliability issues, going into battery etc.? Or did the 13# spring shoot better / flatter for you?
