  1. LMAO Glad to hear that you all are finally trying something different. I would have left out the Ambi plates as I'm sick of them. A 1920 wouldn't have been possible since the four events add up to a possible 1860. We are shooting the Combat and the Crawford at the state match in Bedford next month. Shot the Crawford in Maryland today. 48 x's. Match still didn't end very well. Moving Target event (not modified mover) kicked my butt again. Try the Advanced Military. It's a hoot. 2.5 second draws at 25 gets interesting along with 2 shots each on 3 targets spaced 9 yards apart with a start position facing 90 degrees from targets. The odd events make you a better shooter in the long run.
  2. Bob Howard at the Predator Custom shop in Knoxville, TN. Pistols, revolvers, bolt guns and AR's. He does it all. Predator
  3. I assume the comp is aluminum? I wouldn't heat it. I have a Marvel with a steel comp. When it's time to clean it, I use a small cutter on a dremel. You wouldn't want to do that either with aluminum. How about ultasonic? I have a Hornady magnum ultrasonic that has a heater in it. If you were to submerge the comp in a shooters choice bottle and then submerge the bottle in the ultrasonic with water in it, it may just work.
  4. A small engine turning brush on the end of a dremel and some solvent works well. No worries about removing aluminum. Anything that scratches the metal just gives the carbon more of a surface to stick too.
  5. I've been looking at them. How about you buy one and we'll both find out.
  6. The NRA does have a provision for this. We had 2 shooters at Bianchi in wheel chairs. Did they fit in the box on the barricades or mover? No. It normally takes a doctors excuse but we let common sense come into play. We also have an older gentleman that cannot support the gun in his strong hand. He can work the trigger freestyle with his right hand but uses the weah hand to hold the gun up. There are very few strings of fire that require strong hand only but when we have one he shoots weak handed with no penalty.
  7. From what I understand, Action Target is scheduled to start tomorrow. There are no plates on the range and according to Tiff Piper not all the other equipment is working either. Should be a fun week. If there was ever a year for a practice match, this would be it.
  8. Nope. If it is on the gun for one event then it must be there for the others.
  9. When they sent out a results book that was included. There might be an equipment list under last years results on NRA's web page.
  10. Maybe it wasn't but it is now. Today, when the target flips, both hands come off the barricade and go for the gun. Both hands are on the gun before it gets to the barricade.
  11. Where in the world do you find this stuff? They reported that the shooter had 6 sec to shoot 6 shots at 10 yards on the barricade. They also only had to shoot 3 shots each pass on the mover starting at 15. I wonder when the courses of fire changed to what we have now. I was surprised to see Ayoob looking at his gun before the draw. BE, I'll have to say that was some damn fine trigger work on the plates with the revolver. Shooting them standing all the way back with an auto is not easy but but it's twice as hard with the revolver. I was under the impression that you shot them prone.
  12. I have two of them although they were not assembled by Les Baer. I bought the frames and slides from Brownells and had them built from there. I really like the Baer frame as it fits my hand like no other 1911. They are wider from front to back.
  13. Bruce, Just to make sure you are clear on this, you cannot wrap fingers around the angle iron or rest the gun on the barricade. It can, however, touch the barricade during recoil. As long as the gun does not make contact with the barricade before the shot breaks you are good. I use baseball gloves. I cut the index fingers off to the first joint. They have velcro to wrap around the wrists but these cannot be tightened as they would be considered "artificial support". The gloves could use some more padding as I pinch the crap out of my index finger of the left hand shooting from the left side. You do not have to wear the gloves for all the events. The rules do state that if you start the event wearing gloves then you have to use them through the entire event or vice versa. See ya there, Kevin
  14. They do use them but for some reason they seem to always have problems with them. That's why they use the flight times. The stop plates will work for part of the match and then quit. The only fair way to do it from then on is the flight times.
  15. I agree whole heartedly. There is another thread that talks about accuracy in USPSA that has 114 replies. This would put the accuracy requirement back into the equation. It would also put to an end to the saying "you can miss fast enough to win".
  16. Get a Bic pen with a cap on it. Cut the end off of the cap to the desired length and glue it to the button on the gun. At one time they made an extended button out of steel for them that required the but to be drill and tapped. They were checkered and tended to rub the hide off. I don't believe they are made any longer.
  17. Damn! I'm jealous. I'd give just about anything to go back. NZ is my go to place when it gets real bad around here. I had the time of my life.
  18. The killstick was a 410. Like someone else said, a judge would do fine and safer. I like watching "Swamp People", the way they talk cracks me up. Watching them kill Gators with a 22 is a little unnerving. The premise of the killstick was to finish off the Gator if it was still alive in the boat. The 410 was used to prevent shot from exiting through the more valuable hide on the belly. Will is on some other forum that I don't remember the name. His posts are a little odd, in my opinion, but they are consistant with an assault rifle enthusiest. They are more concerned with anything that just goes bang than anyhting else. Will seems to be a decent guy to work for. He makes sure that his employees understand when he has his boss hat on but appears to maintain a personable relationship with them. I think the show is far fetched and a little over the top but then again, I have a hard time watching Top Shot sometimes too.
  19. I figured that you would pick up on the magwell. Just buy the thing.
  20. Hey Ole Melon Head, If that could be done it would be great but, and here's the big but, between wrapping up Camp Perry and committee meetings I don't believe it will happen. You could always move to NZ and then Bianchi would be at the end of the shooting season. You like the cold and you shoot a revolver so what's the problem? It's not like you have to try to retrieve your brass in the snow.
  21. The squadding for the second gun is going on now. I believe it was originally thought that they would get 275+ and then the range couldn't handle more than 300 entries. Two gun entries only take up 30 to 35 shooting slots. That was before the price increase for the 2nd gun so we'll see. As far as dates go, as long as I am not travelling on Memorial Day I don't care.
  22. Sure, now you back off!!!! That's okay, I've got your back. I can hack it. See ya Sunday.
  23. Sheeesh!!! Not once, and I repeat, NOT ONCE did I say anything about changing any of the events. The OP mentioned about running more through the Mover and the rumor is that they are going to add a third. Problem solved. There was a perceived slow down on the Barricade and that too has been dealt with. Allan mentioned the chicken shit string and there is a solution for that. So, I suggest you find a nice tall tree to sit under and cool your arse down with a sudzy one. May is just around the corner so we can debate the rest of it then and tell some lies over adult beverages.
