  1. I believe you know me well enough to know that I don't take anything for granted. I won't be looking through the barricade anyway. It might be a little weird as at 10 yards I will get to see what Grant does. I did notice that during recoil you could see some movement in the barricade. The barricades sit on 4 footers that looks like are in sand. Might have a wobble problem there. Of course we Hillbilly's are used to that as the barricades at Hinton are portable and the ground is not level. The prone mats look like pieces of carpet but they are laying on top of something else. I'll be paying close attention to the details once I get there.
  2. I know. I remembered that while I was typing it. I've been studying it trying to figure out what to expect.
  3. I never had much luck using a chrono in the rain no matter how light. Are you using the same bullet as the previous owner? The jacket material may be different and causing your problem.
  4. You take it to the range and can fire a thousand rounds with no problem? In a match it jams? Sounds to me that your thumbs are dragging the slide when you tense up during a match.
  5. If you had been watching "Doug Koenig's Championship Season" you would know. Oh, I forgot, the Mrs won't let you get that channel. The answer to your question is they do have turning targets. They also have windows in the barricades.
  6. Looks good. Now, just get the crap between your ears to work and you'll have it made.
  7. Mechanics gloves work well and any other glove that provides padding on the back of the hand or tops of fingers. Don't worry if it has a velcro strap. Just cut it off.
  8. It's about time. Now get that sight set up and you'll be good to go.
  9. For a new reloader, vibratory is the way to go. I say sell them the big Dillon tumbler, some corn cob, polish and let them have at it. After a while they may get picky about carbon on the inside and gunky primer pockets. Then it's time for an ultrasonic. I use the ultrasonic to clean the cases once a year to remove all the gunk. I clean them for 90 min., rinse them and then spread them out on a towel. By the time the next batch is ready to be rinsed, the brass on the towel is dry. They do get put in the tumbler to get the dirt off of the sides of the cases and then sized and de-primed prior to the ultrasonic.
  10. What's different about the new case feeders? I tightened the clutch all the way and dump 1000 9x23 cases in there. No probs.
  11. What kind of gun are we talking about here? Open, Metallic or Production. Open is zeroed at 50. In Metallic I use an Aristocrat sight. Position 1 is set for 10 yards. Position 2 is set for 15, 20, and 25. Position 3 is set for 35 and 50. My Production gun is set for 50. I just use different holds at the different yard lines. Keep good notes and know where to hold during different lighting conditions.
  12. Way back when they used to run an A/P State match in Winnamac, IN. They did a bunch of off the wall stuff including a machine gun shoot. (not on the A/P courses of fire) One of the things was a rimfire rifle match o the 4 Cup events. So yes, it has been done before and they seemed to have a good time with it. I say go for it. It never hurts to try something new. This year at the VA State match in Bedford they are shooting the TX Mover. The event is not part of the NRA courses of fire. It is shot at 10 and 15 yards requiring 48 rounds. The shooter fires 6 shots right to left. The targets appears from the left in 3 seconds as the shooter reloads. Shooter fires 6 rounds, reloads as the target re-appears and then does it again. 24 rounds are fired at 10 yards and 24 from 15. Sounds interesting. I've never tried it.
  13. The lock works the same as the 013.
  14. www.midsouthshooterssupply.com has them. I believe they are $168. I was there today and got to play with one. I'd get one but I just got a 013. They added some more adjustability and look very solid. I'll probably have one before the end of the year.
  15. Like I said earlier, the holes are the least of your problem. Get a new slide and install it on the frame. It will go on with a bunch of slop. Once a frame has been cut for rails it has to have rails. The only thing that you can do is to contact STI and see what they can do. I guess you could have someone weld up the frame and re-cut the rails.
  16. Okay. I've never had a problem with them. Been using them for over 12 years and have yet to break one. My gunsmith certainly has no problems doing slide to frame fits. Rails are just easier and I like the feel. My current Cup gun will put 6 shots at 50 yards in a group smaller than a nickel.
  17. When I have a gun built, I have the rails installed on a brand new frame and slide. I want my slide to frame fit tight and they remain tight for the life of the gun. Unless you are going to install the new top end yourself, there is no way that just having the slide cut for rails will be more expensive. STI may or may not be able to put your serial number on a new frame. You will have to send in the old frame so that it can be destroyed and they will charge you for a new frame. Then the new frame and slide will have to be fit.
  18. The holes in your frame would be the least of your problems. Send the frame and new slide to Doug and have the slide cut for the rails. I believe he charges $150 to cut the slide plus shipping. I don't know if STI would do that but it would seem to me that having the slide cut would be cheaper. If you were to get a new frame, the slide and frame would have to be fitted anyway. By the time you spent the money for a new frame and the fitting it would be a lot more than what Doug would charge.
  19. JHP or hardball? Huh! Have Grant install a missile launcher and a Gatling gun on the white ghost. You'll need it. Don't even think about letting the guns out of your sight. As you know, MI can be a confidence booster or buster. Just keep the head out of the A$$ and you'll be fine.
  20. What suddenly brought this on? By the way, it is spelled LORD. It would seem to me that someone with the nickname "Melon Head" would need the grease.
  21. I would suggest any airline that does not make your first stop in the US in NY, DC, or Philly. Basically, try to stay away from unfriendly places for guns. I didn't care for going through LAX in the past. We are leaving from Roanoke, VA to Charlotte and then to Frankfort. Customs should be easy in Charlotte. Just be sure that you have the customs form filled out with guns and serial numbers before you go. I can't remember the number of the form at the moment. As far as the German side goes, I have no idea. I just hope they speak English. I had a hard enough time understanding a guy when I went to Sydney.
  22. That sounds good. It's been a while since I have seen "Too Tight Thomey".
  23. According to the guy that ran the World match down there, they wouldn't be putting another one on for atleast 10 years. You have another 6 years to save up.
