Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. We've had some people try to use suppressors on .22's. The problem is timer sound. If it doesn't make noise, the timer will not pick up the shots and you're shooting for fun. We had some rifle problems this way. I can't find any rule one way or the other. May be a question to ask the Steel Challenge people.
  2. We've got access to most of these timers mentioned. Will adjust the sensitivity and see how it works. Thanks for the replies.
  3. Thanks for the replies, guys. We did try a couple of these timers without much consistancy. Didn't notice the RU Ready was adjustable. Will try setting the adjustment lower to see if it helps.
  4. Our club recently went to using .22 rifle for steel challenge as well as pistols. Our problem is the timers won't consistantly pick up the shots from saome rifles. We require non-subsonic ammo. We're using Pact Club Timer 3 timers, also tried some old Speed-timer 3000 timers we found in the shed at the range. None seemed consistant. What are others using for rifle? We finally discovered if we put the timer on a lathe stick, activated it and held it out under the barrel of the rifles, it would pick up the shots. Shooters said that didn't bother them as long as it was below eye-sight and not moving around. The most inconsistant rifle was one Remington 597, yet another one seemed OK. Tried different ammo as well, same results. Looking for suggestions. Thanks.
  5. Where in Nebraska are you located? Eastern Nebraska Gun club in Louisville has USPSA if you weren't aware of it. We do USPSA, multi-gun, steel challenge all year round, cold, snow or not. USPSA on the first Sunday of the month, multigun or steel 3rd Sunday. We also have a pro-am style shoot and Bianchi occasionally. Links for us: http://www.engc.us/ http://www.easternnebraskapracticalshooters.com/ Have a steel match this Sunday coming up. Come on out if you like.
  6. Welcome to the forums. I shoot at Eastern Nebraska Gun Club in Louisville NE. We have a steel challenge match this weekend, Oct 21. Come on out if you can. You can check us out at http://www.easternnebraskapracticalshooters.com/ We also shoot USPSA the first Sunday of each month, winter included. Third Sundays are either steel challenge or multi-gun. Hope to see you there. Rich Simandl.
  7. We're using a score sheet I built. Has all 8 stages, with flight times, misses, and total boxes. We shoot 6 stages at any given match, so everyone gets their own score sheet. Have different ones for centerfire or rimfire. We have to set up and tear down same day, so shooting before isn't an option for us. Before EZSteel, we had people totaling the score sheets as they shot them, and entered later. When I checked 1 match to convert it to EZSteel, approx 75% of the sheets were incorrectly filled out, miss-added, marked wrong, etc. Now we just have then write down the 5 strings, and however many misses were on each run, no totaling by shooters. Many less mistakes. With EZSteel, I don't have to recheck every score, just entering them takes time. Will look at Dave's program to see if it will help us. Thanks. Tried to attach my score sheet, won't let me. Says not permitted for this type of file. It's on an Excel spreadsheet. PM me if you want to look at it.
  8. I've been doing the steel stats for our club this year. We recently affiliated with steel challenge. EZsteel is not so easy to use. A palm option would be nice. We had 72 shooters last weekend, 31 of them new. It took me 5 hrs to enter times into the EZsteel program so we could post the results. Granted, I type slow and I'm not a computer wizard. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to speed this up? Does SCSA accept results in any other form? We're trying to get up to speed on this, but appears to be a time consuming program. We used to use an excel speadsheet before we signed up with SCSA. Then we could have an overall combined results as well, vs seperate main match, rimfire scores. EZSteel does not have a combined score available that I have found. The link to dave's scoring program no longer works. I tried Google, but only came up with scores, no program access.
  9. I got a green one in 7.5". Same reasons, kind of cool looking. Agree trigger not the best. But its one of the few .22's with ambi-safetys. Being left-handed, I like that. Put a cheap red-dot on it, built a holster and used it for Bianchi matches at local club. Cheap fun. Oldest daughter also liked it for steel challenge.
  10. The gun club is located approx 2 miles East of Louisville NE on highway 66. Only thing in Omaha itself is an indoor range, The Bullet Hole in LaVista I believe.
  11. I'm from Omaha. Very active in running USPSA at the local gun club, Eastern Nebraska Gun Club - http://www.engc.us/. We run USPSA 1st Sunday of every month, including winter. We also have multi-gun matches 6 times a year, as well as steel challenge, some Bianchi. Check our match schedule at http://ww.easternnebraskapracticalshooters.com/.
  12. ENGC has a 3 stage Bianchi match this coming weekend, then USPSA pistol on the next weekend. Come on out if you have time.
  13. Stage 10 was discovered to have timer issues. Only thing to do unfortunately was remove it from the match.
  14. Match results are up. We had a good turn-out of shooters. http://www.easternnebraskapracticalshooters.com/2011sectional/2011sectional.htm Hope every one had a good time. Thanks to all who came to shoot, set-up or help in any way.
