  1. Resurrecting this thread as I got a flyer from Cabela's and the had the VM competition tactical in the flyer for $1299.99. Not a super bargain by any means but a fair price if anyone is in the market you local cabela's may be stocking this model for you to put some fingerprints on. Hopefully this off season I get around to doing my review of this, the stoeger m3000 the benelli m2 and the beretta 1301.
  2. I am confident you won't be disappointed. Tough to beat.
  3. I will be able to do that review shortly my ported core in at the dallas fort worth airport on ot way to me. Just in time for Christmas.
  4. That's on my short list to replace the Nikon... I previously was running a burris tac30. I just wanted more magnification for longer shots. The tac 30 wasn't quite a true 1x either so it doesn't seem that different runnning the 1.5-8.
  5. You should try the 2.8 from invictus I think you will find it to not be an issue having the two sets touching. I really enjoy mine.
  6. I run the burris xtr ii 1.5-8x28mm. I really like it. The price isn't bad and the 1.5 still works well at close range but I also run offset irons.
  7. Looks like I will have yo build a new upper oh darn.
  8. I'll be curious to see if you notice any gains in split time reduction... I noticed a small improvement yesterday, on "Bill Drills" my normal splits are between 0.18 and 0.21, yesterday they were consistently in the 0.17 range and my slowest was 0.19. I'm not real sure if it was the trigger or my mind thinking it should be faster so it was. Either way, I'll take it. I think Apex means placebo in some language...Randy one more time do I open or close the loop if I am having light strikes?
  9. Thanks Kurt I will do that but won't be able to try some live fire for a few days tk make sure it worked. what is the issue that might be happening so I know what to look for?
  10. I have a Versamax Competition tactical. I am having an issue with the gun not releasing a shell from the magazine after the shot. This problem first presented otself when I went pheasant hunting in South Dakota last weekend, as well as yesterday when shooting some slugs to get ready for deer season here in Iowa. I am running it with only the one piece 8 round factory tube and the factory spring which is essentially brand new as I removed it when I got it to run a 12 round tube. I have modified the latch as well as previously removing the smaller inner spring behind the latch. The gun will cycle normally when holding the shell release button and running the bolt by hand. And when the bolt goes home on an empty chamber and I pull the trigger it will release a shell from the tube. The port is unmodified and the carrier is the factory carrier with some material removed to give a little extra clearance. I cleaned the gun completely prior to my trip to SD. Any thoughts about what my issue could be would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I run the polymer fss kit with competition springs and mg teigger pull weight is in the neighborhood of 2 lbs. I never had a light primer strike until the last match and had about 25 of them. It was 12 degrees so I would attribute it more to that then anything. But I plan on cleaning the striker channel thuroughly and I may tune the loop of the trigger bar to give alittle more clearance on the sear. I am currently using cci primers but I will probably go to federals as they are softer.
  12. This is my Versamax foreend. I used a file to break the edge and I works great.
  13. I cut my own from stair tread safety tape.
  14. I should be all set as I have the polymer fss trigger kit currently installed.
  15. If I call apex can I get just the shoe? I have never shot a flat faced trigger but I am very intrigued by this.
  16. I know Jesse Tischauser had extraction issues on one of his guns and he swapped the extractor with benelli part. It is a direct replacement.
  17. Don't bother trying quad loading. Not sure if this was sarcasm but I wasn't trying. Yes sorry that was sarcasm. You must have a plug in the gun from the factory. Wear your safety glasses whine removing it. I disassembled the gun and I saw the end just hanging out, it slid out with no issues. Thanks! The black cap that is in the tube that the plug slid into will have to come out if you plan on putting an extension on. That is wjen you want your safety glasses on so you dont take a spring to the eye.
  18. Thanks! I feel so dumb, why does stoeger put those in?Pretty much all field guns come with a limiting plug for waterfowl hunting..
  19. Working on the M3000 is super easy and fun, but I'll admit the only thing that took me longer than expected was getting the magazine spring retaining cap out since I didn't have the right tools to compress it. But once I figured out a way to clamp it with some punches and needle nose pliers (and some patience), I finally got it out a few minutes later. All I do is take a flat head screwdriver and pry the it to get it started then you can take a pair of pliers and get it the rest of the way out with out the cap and spring flying. But wear safety glasses just in case.
  20. I see taccom is offering a triple dueces with this same elevation change to them.
  21. I like my invictus practical 2.8 caddies pretty easy to load 2 or 4 from the same caddy. And like was said I carry enough shells to complete the stage not including what is in the gun at the beep.
  22. I have a bike trailer that fits 2 kids. It folds very flat. And fits in the trunk of a chevy cruze. And can be easily modified for 3 gun use. Also has lots of extra space for all the extras we all oike to bring with. I haven't modified mine yet but I have it all planned out in my mind.
  23. I have an seekins adjustable on my nordic and it is quite open. It works great though. I might try the taccom ulw buffer system. I would offer a recommendation about the handguard I got a lancer from rainier arms and I really like it.
  24. Mine came with both flat and picatiny for the top half of tge ring.
