  1. Dazhi, What you said is correct. The main concern on recoil spring weight is the back of the guide rod tunnel beating the recoil spring guide rod head which beats the frame. The second is what you described, to heavy recoil spring and the second shot is low, too light a recoil spring and the second shot is high. There are probably video's on Youtube to help shooters choose the correct weight recoil spring for their pistol and power factor. I shoot Glock 35's in 40sw Minor and use a 12# Wolff Glock RS with a stainless steel one piece guide rod. I normally replace the Recoil Spring every 3000 rounds. I like the way the 12# spring feels with a power factor of around 137.

    What is it?

Once again, we will have to agree to disagree or not.

    What is it?

Excuse me, but Buddhism is a Religion and that's where Zen comes from (India to China as quoted by Brian in 2001). We are going to have to agree to disagree.

    What is it?

No, again you missed the point
  5. I have two identical STI Trojan's in 40sw; shoot Minor in USPSA. Tried both the Wilson Combat and Tripp Cobra mags. Really a difficult decision, but I ended up going with the Tripp Cobra 10rd mags. Bought 14 of them and 3 would not drop from either pistol. I called Tripp and talked to Virgil's son (sorry do not remember his name). He was great about the problem and they paid for me to send the three back. Told me he would get them running correctly or replace them. I received them or new ones back in a couple weeks and they work perfectly as do all the others. Why 14, well I started out using 7 for practice and 7 for matches. I still keep them separate, but honestly for bigger matches I bring all of them. I've never had a problem like N3WWN has had with the Tripp; I use SNS 200gr RN bullets.......
  6. I run a Glock 35 in Production & Ltd with 200 gr SNS coated bullet, shooting a 135PF. I use a Wolff 12# Glock recoil spring on a non-captured stainless steel one piece guide rod. Have never had an ejection problem or any damage.......

    What is it?

This is getting crazy. All men are appointed but once to die. Death is not the ultimate fear; not for a Christian.......
  8. I have shot N320 for years and have not had any problems with shooting it in Major or Minor for 40sw. I had never heard of Sport Pistol until my bullet maker (SNS Coated Bullets), Jim & Ryan Stiner told me about it. There opinion is that Sport Pistol is very close to N320 in loading data and it's better for shooting Coated Bullets. I have several pounds of N320 left to shoot and have bought some Sport Pistol. Will post my results on this topic, but it might be a while.......
  9. I have two Glock 35's (Gen 3), one is set up for Carry Optics (slide milled for Vortex Venom), with plate for slide cut, so it can also be shot in Limited or Production. And I have one that does not have the slide milled, so I can shoot it in both Limited or Production. Both are set up the same internally, with Johnny Glocks triggers with 3.25# triggers with quick re-set. Johnny is great to deal with by talking to you on the phone, etc and his customer service is great as well. Can't go wrong with a Johnny Glocks Trigger.......

    What is it?

I have a question for BamBam, it's about this statement "At that time the man realized that in this fight to the death he could not overcome the sword skill of the Monkey. When he accepted that he would die, he defeated the monkey". So when I was in Viet Nam in a fire fight, if I accepted that I was going to die, then I would defeat the enemy? Sorry, but that dog don't hunt and I am very happy that I never accepted that I was going to die and I'm also happy that my fellow soldiers did not as well?

Brian, Not trying to argue with you or anyone else here. But, if you Practice Zen, (looking up Zen, it's almost always associated with Buddhism and the word Practice), yet do not believe in it, then how do you know you are doing it and what's the purpose? Thanks, Ron
  12. There are a lot of USPSA shooting videos on Youtube. Usually the big name shooters of our sport have great info on all facets of shooting a stage. What I have found over my 40 years of shooting USPSA matches is that I start every stage with the same procedure (not all start the same) and I have walked the stage enough to know where I am going, etc after the buzzer. I say the same thing to myself after I have made ready and that's simply "Relax and Concentrate". Once you have formed a plan to shoot the stage try not to change it because someone else shot it a different way. His/Hers may be a better way, but you have already walked your plan and most times when shooters change their plan, it does not work well. Just a couple of thoughts. Also there are different types of shooters, back in my starting days the two most different were Rob Leatham and Jerry Barnhart. Both are great shooters, but Rob is laid back and Jerry is very intense. Find the way that works best for you and do the same in practice that you do in matches, so it kinda becomes a "Condition Response". Have a great time shooting the best shooting sport in the world.......
  13. I shot with Kita at a Wis Sectional a few years back. She is a nice lady and good shooter. I shot with a shooter that had gone through her class on Movement and said that it helped him.......
  14. Thanks dr_boone, I had a friend say that was a good drop. Actually my lead level was not 31 it was 33.5, so it dropped 8.6 which I guess I should be happy about that. Hoping for a bigger drop in March as I am doing everything I can, at least I think I am, to get it lower. I am changing shoes, using D-Lead wipes and my doctor suggested I change my shirt as well? If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to pass them on, either here or in a PM. Thanks, Ron
  15. I just looked on Youtube and found the Michael Voigt video. It's called "Field Notes" #12.......
  16. I also like the post-it notes drill with a water bottle. I have 3 pieces of blk electrical tape on my basement wall to transition with. Some years back Matt Burkett (sp) did a video, actually several, but one in particular he used a water bottle to move from box to box, etc. It was interesting watching him and his student doing it and how it helps you keep you feet quiet as you move which helps keep your pistol quiet as well.......
  17. Got my Lead Level results back and I was very disappointed; it was 24.9. My doctor called me at home giving me the results and I explained to her that I had not been at the indoor range for several months, etc. She suggested I might want to try a different hobby. USPSA is not a hobby for me, I love to shoot and will not shoot indoors until my next Physical in March 2020. They won't take my blood, because I had Hepatitis when I was in 8th grade. Will post my results again in March.......
  18. There is a post by Michael Voigt on another topic (can't remember which one). But, Michael basically says that in doing transitions you don't need to be in the center of the next target before you engage it. I wish I could remember the topic; maybe it could be looked up by going to Youtube and entering Michael's name, etc. It was really good....... Also maybe by entering Michael's name on the BE Forum, not sure how that works!
  19. nso123, Not sure what all the RF's are, just letting everyone know that what I stated was what I was told. Almost everyone I shoot with (PCC) reloads their ammo and the power factors are around 140. Rotating the targets is still a good idea.......
  20. Paherne, I'm sure it will work as advertised; they are nice pistols. I just prefer a Striker Fired pistol for Patrol Officers. Not saying it won't work for you, just my opinion. I think your approach is the right way to do it.......
  21. After 40 years in Law Enforcement and 3 decades of being a Range Master I see your point and lets just say we agree to disagree. Training is good, but you cannot duplicate the tension and pressure on the range that you have searching for an armed suspect or searching a building for a burglar, etc. I would never suggest that your finger should be on the trigger before you are ready to shoot. It's a personal thing for me and I see your point.......
  22. The reason given is that the un-bagging, bagging, etc slows down the steel matches. I'm not saying I agree, but that's the reason given.
  23. I agree with gnoyesiv, if you can do 20 minutes with good technique, then stop after 20. Do another 20 minutes later in the day with good technique. I think over a period of time you should be able to do 3 maybe 4 sessions per day. Better to do less time with good technique than more time with poor technique. Keep a diary of the times and any issues you had and good things you had. I have 3 pieces of tape on my basement wall by my reloading bench and use them for movement......
  24. True, but I still liked the Striker Fired Pistols for Patrol Officers.......
  25. I went the other way because of a strong shoulder injury. The biggest thing was follow up shots. In Single Stack Minor the gun settles quicker back to line of sight. In Ltd Major I had to concentrate more on my grip pressure with the weak hand and getting the gun back on track for the second shot of a double tap. For Ltd Major I would practice single shot draws and then move to double tap draws, keeping the same grip pressure and concentrating on the follow up shot. Once you get used to the heavier recoil with Major and the grip and sight picture for double taps you will be a better shooter. Springing the pistol for your loads is important as well, but that's another topic.......
