  1. Haven't seen a photo but I've seen one in person and fired it. It was pretty cool.
  2. I have Dawson and like them. I like the look of the Taran Tacticals better, though, and have heard nothing but good things about them.
  3. In my opinion, get a zev competition spring kit, race connector, and plunger, and stop there. Spend the rest on ammo for practice.
  4. Well said, Moltke. I think another question to consider is G17 or G34. If the thread originator is willing to explore this, then we've got some material differences to talk about.
  5. And if so, is there someone out there who's tried it and would like to offer up a review?
  6. Does he sell a kit that's USPSA production legal?

    Glock Mags

From the USPSA rule book, here's what's acceptable: Maximum size Handgun and all magazines (revolvers are exempt) Yes, handgun with empty magazine inserted must fit wholly within a box with internal dimensions of 8 15/16” x 6” x 1 5/8” (tolerance +1/16”, -0”) (8.938”x6”x1.625”) (227.01mmx152.40mmx41.28mm) Hope this helps!
  8. I've also heard KKM barrels are good but I haven't tried them. I'm happy with the factory barrel.
  9. The best mechanical change IMO is to install a good set of adjustable sights. Sounds like you want to hit small targets at longer range, so I'd suggest Dawson Precision fiber optics, both front and rear. These sights will dial you in.
  10. Also the trigger spring had virtually no effect on trigger pull. The rest of the components did.
  11. I put the zev competition spring set, v4 race connector and rounded safety plunger in my g34, one part at a time to see what would make the most difference. I found the striker spring to have the most impact on trigger pull. The downside.... Light strikes on harder primers. Fixed that with softer primers. When all was said and done, I left all the new components in EXCEPT the trigger spring. The trigger felt and functioned better with the OEM spring.
  12. I completely agree w/ Bryan45's post (#130). Find a game you like with rules that align with your style of competition and gear, and go have fun.
  13. Grabagun. I bought from them last month. $5.99 shipping and great prices. Last time I looked they had 21" in stock. Compact Firearms has the 24" ones. Sadly as of last night when I looked they where all out, thanks anyway. Anyone else know of a reputable online place I can get a 21" 1301 shipped to my local FFL? Grabagun. Bud's has the 21" model but not the 24" model.
  14. Welcome to the forum and congrats on earning B so quickly.

    Striker Spring

Are there any downsides to using a lighter striker?

    Striker Spring

I have the competition spring kit in my G34 and found that as long as I use Federal or Winchester primers, I'm good to go. Not so much with CCI as they're a little harder. Good points on the lighter striker's though, hadn't considered making that change.
  17. Thanks for the tip on the graphite. The slide bar is the part that is most annoying when it doesn't function and fails to grab the next primer.
  18. I run it for about 200 rds, then clean and lube. I've used SlideGlide, Hoppe's, and Wilson Combat.
  19. I use the Dawson extensions and have had great luck with them. Easy to remove without tools, always a plus in a match.
  20. I believe grip tape is acceptable for production.
  21. Rolling break doesn't always mean spongy, rolling can be crisp and reset as positive as oem if set up right. JohnnyBoss, I'm seeing lots of good press on your triggers. Are they USPSA Production legal? If so, I'd like to know more.
  22. One word of warning, though. The reduced power firing pin spring didn't produce enough "snap" for CCI primers. I got a f2f about once per mag. So if you use the harder primers, skip this spring. If you use softer primers like Federal or Winchester, it'll run like a champ. I would consider this a "low budget" trigger job. If you have the $$$, the Vanek seems like a good way to go.

  24. I installed a GW V4 2# race connector, competition spring kit, and titanium safety plunger. Lowered the pull to under 2.5#. Not the crispest trigger ever, more of a rolling break, but it runs smooth and reliably.
  25. Dawson matched pair, fiber in front and back, adjustable rear. They are great on my G34.
