  1. I switched from Classic Minor to Classic Major (45ACP) part way through last year. I noticed that most of our matches in my area tended to have at least one stage that seriously disadvantaged those of us in Major with a few short courses that required a static reload. On a long stage I don't think it makes a lot of difference but the short courses it really hurts as all the others shooting Minor can complete it with one mag whereas I have to reload.... that's the choice I made though so I can't complain. The scoring advantage is handy as I do tend to shoot more than my fair share of Charlies. When shooting Minor I made it up to A Grade (but against a lot less competition than there is in the division now) since switching to Major I am still shooting my grade, haven't managed to get over 82% yet but there is a lot more competition in the division now... has Major helped? Hard to say because I really can't compare to how I could have shot using Minor. I am enjoying being able to use the 45 though
  2. The trouble is that if it allocated stock as to the contents of your cart they would end up with stock sitting around unsold for ages.Sometimes people put stuff in the cart then never end up finalizing the order. Doesn't make it any less frustrating in your predicament though
  3. It's a sad event for all involved and not what our sport/culture needs. I am all for teaching young ones a healthy respect and use of firearms but I think they need a little more consideration as to what you put in their hands before they are ready for it.
  4. I hadn't Sarge.... but I easily worked out what they were when you guys were talking about them.
  5. Yeah they are Patches over here
  6. I don't hear of many people using AP50N for Major Power Factor here in Australia. AP100 is pretty popular for it though. I use AP50N for 9mm Minor PF and have found it to be good.
  7. everything by Justin Beiber
  8. I tell ya what I am kind of glad they don't use the Texas Star in IPSC or I'd be zeroing a lot more stages... I sucked at it!
  9. Ok that's strange, they should have been in there. Mine were in the little zip lock bag that the 2 allen keys were in. I also mounted mine 90 degrees or I'd offer to send them to you.
  10. Where did you get them from? I recently got 5 from David Bailey and they came with the extra set of button screws to avoid this issue. I did find they had to be popped into place though but once in they didn't impede the function.
  11. My Smith & Wesson Pro Series after adding VZ Grips and Infinity Magwell
  12. You should have done the decent thing and shot it a few times to put it out of it's misery lol
  13. I made some rounds up with just the case and old gold coloured projectiles that I no longer use. My current loads have a deep orange projectile so they are distinctly different. The only thing I don't like is dropping a full mag onto the hard floor. I will load one mag with only three rounds and use it as the starting mag so it isn't hitting the deck with as much force.... I figure this is going to be closer to what the mag will have in it that I drop in a reload for a match anyway.
  14. Tried to order some parts (new guide rod & springs)...... can't get them sent to Australia unfortunately. Does anyone know of some sources for a replacement captured guide rod and IMSI flat wire springs that ships internationally?
  15. Thanks for the help. I'll order some replacement springs and start playing with some new loads
  16. My 12 Year old son got his handgun licence recently. I have been getting him to use a .22 for a little while (Ruger Mk1) and he has been doing alright with it, his trigger safety and muzzle awareness are excellent.... I am really keen on getting him shooting IPSC with me but he is not allowed to use the 22 for IPSC even at club level. I let him use my old M&P9L last weekend at a match and found a few issues for him. He is a small 12 year old and not overly strong, He has trouble racking the slide comfortably on the M&P, he can manage it at the load & make ready but clearing a malfunction proved difficult as he couldn't hold it back and lock the slide. He had some difficulty getting the 10round mags inserted properly as they are so tight. The bigger problem was his handling of the recoil, He had too much muzzle flip. I am wondering if anyone has some advice on modifications for the M&P9L that would aid him. I was thinking of getting lighter recoil springs to make it easier for him to rack and lock the slide but was wondering if it might exacerbate the jams caused by limp wristing it (sorry son no offense). I was also thinking the lighter springs might make it easier to download the power factor to a level that is easier for him to get used to. Thinking of getting a magwell and some basepads for it but am having trouble finding ones that don't increase the round count (Australias ridiculous gun laws restrict us to 10 rounds). Do you guys have any suggestions for setup that might aid him or should I just postpone his IPSC shooting till he is stronger and can run it stock?
  17. I really enjoy this show glad to see it back for another season.
  18. Why would he even bother - wasn't even remotely funny or entertaining
  19. I have a Smith & Wesson Pro Series in 9mm. I ended up having to reduce my OAL. They were getting a bit long (ran fine in my old M&P) I was having nosedive and FTF issues fairly regularly - noticed it happened less if I slingshot the slide backwards than letting it release from the slide stop. I reduced to OAL to around 1.10 and I havent had the issue since. That was using 125gr Conicals. I have recently changed to 135gr Round Nose loaded to the same OAL and they run fine also. The only real issues this gun has given me is when I stuff around with things and screw them up. eg - rounds too long - as above, let it get too dirty - occasionally FTE, or alter the centre leaf spring to lighten the trigger without applying more pressure to the left side disconnector spring - resulted in falling to half cock & generally ran poorly. (the benefit was I learnt how it operates a little better and have more confidence adjusting it) If you don't fix things that aren't broken and your mags and ammo are set right it should run just fine. Mess around with internals, load your ammo incorrectly or use poor mags and like any gun you'll run into problems. I have put around 6000 rounds through this gun now and aside from the issues I created it has ran just fine.
  20. Finished watching Season 3 the other night. It's been a great series. Has anyone watched The Bridge?
  21. I started my son recently on a Ruger Mk1 but have been letting him practice at home with my old M&P9L. He has a lot of difficulty racking it. as fdc1999 said if he puts his hand firmly on the top and pulls as hard as he can he can rack it back enough to eject and strip a fresh round or lock the slide back. I wouldn't like to see him have to do it under pressure in a course of fire though.... I am going to try lighter springs in it for him until he gets stronger
  22. Only takes that one brain fart and game over. At least you have the right attitude about it and can learn from it and move on
  23. The show isn't perfect but at least they show shooters and shooting in a very positive light and attracts the interest of non shooters unlike some of the other shooting related shows which tend to feed the Antis stereotypes.
  24. Luckily my wife thinks it costs a hell of a lot less than it does or I'd be living in the dog house for the rest of my life
  25. Provided your gun is kept safely downrange and your finger is not in the trigger guard and you don't have an accidental discharge then it won't result in a Disqualification
