  1. Great match! Thanks to Jeremy Brannon for sponsoring the match and for the great staff. Everything seemed to flow and was well worth it. Can't wait to shoot it again next year.
  2. I have a second Gen MBX 170mm and it has been flawless from day 1. No changes what so ever. Also, that Allen head screw is to set the RETENTION of the locking pin. I have mine set so that it takes some force to slide it down, but not impossible. If you have problems with the MBX mags Adrian will make it right. Good dude who cares about his product working. Can't go wrong with CK Arms. Bobby will take care of you. End of story.
  3. What aaron said, times 10. Had a blast. Matt set up some great stages and it was well worth the trip. Put it on the calendar for next year for sure. I might shoot it in single stack next year because I hate myself, and you should too!
  4. I have the 9mm tac fs and it only choked on 147 grain handloads at slide lock when it was sub 500 rounds. Otherwise very accurate and reliable. I managed a 3" group at 25 yards off hand with it and have only changed the front sight, upgraded the trigger, and added a dawson magwell. Grear budget 1911.
  5. 30 from day one in my new Gen spring and follower. Email Adrian and ask him. Also, are you using a mag loader?
  6. Look at the payout list, and the fact that you don't have to reset the stages. What was the cost of the pro am last year? $150 per division? I think it's fair considering the payouts.
  7. Hell, I like weapon shield just from the cool applicator. Syringe like. Lube where I need it and no where else.
  8. Wblacksh hooked me up. He got the spare from McMaster Carr online. Now I just need to figure out the screw dimensions to order some spares for myself.
  9. D_striker, I understand your use of the case gauge as a go/no go, but what is the downside to using only the barrel? In my limited gun I always used the chamber as my case gauge and never had issues, meanwhile a full half of those same rounds would not pass case gauging. Never had an issue. If the goal is to make sure your rounds work in the particular gun you're going to using the rounds in, what's the downside to just using the barrel?
  10. wblacksh, holy hell, that would be great. I plan on being in frostproof thursday after noon ish. I'll shoot you a PM
  11. Did you lose zero while you were waiting? Hoping it won't be too bad.
  12. I seem to have managed to lose the windage/elevation lock screw for my RTS2 less than a week after getting my new FGW open gun. I shoot the florida open next friday. How screwed am I and what are my options? Cmores hours are monday-Thursday and I leave Wednesday afternoon. Thanks!
  13. I did exactly this at the Indiana 400. Hell, I asked Sarge to make double sure seeing as he was the CRO nearest the safety area I was about to use. I caught another shooter giving me a weird look, so I made sure to show him the empty mag. I was having mag drop issues and wanted to make sure it was fixed. All the above advice is great. Use common sense and go by the rule book and you will be A-Ok.
  14. What Sarge said x1000. Bobby and Matt will take care of you. The benefit of buying a CK arms gun are the following: -No wait -Same fit and finish as their custom guns, just with a pre-set features (which are all very nice) -Same customer service and response as if you bought one of their custom built guns CK Arms guns are not factory built. They are batch built. Bobby has said he doesn't even know which guns will be CK or Freedom until he does the slide cut. Same care goes into fitting the slide, frame, and barrel as any other gun that leaves their shop. You can't go wrong. I just picked up my custom FGW gun, and almost wish I had gone with a CK arms gun back in November to cut the wait time, but I am immensely happy. Buy with confidence.
  15. What info do you need? I shot this match last year and Jeremy did a great job putting on a match worth shooting. I shot the pro am, SE georgia pro am, and JABS for steel matches and still feel like I got more bang for my buck at JABS. Whole hog cook out, amazing prize table, and a lot of fun. The only thing that went wrong was the weather! Seriously, though. This is a great oddball match that should interest everyone. I'm shooting irons and open this year. Can't wait to make the steel ring!
  16. Yep. Squadding is ongoing. Jeremy has a business to run as well, from what I know, so I'd shoot him an email if you aren't approved to squad by tomorrow or so.
  17. Jimko, I think that has more to do with the standard size jug they use. Different volume of powder fits in the same container. Ramshot competition and trail boss for example are below 16oz a canister because of how fluffy it is.
  18. I picked up my new open gun yesterday, and have been shooting it. I seem to be able to maintain a freestyle grip ok, but anything more than a mag or so every 5 minutes hurts. I shot one round left hand only..I am not a smart man. Should be good for the open with dry fire every night. Got 500 rounds in over the last two days to start the break in and do load testing. Going to be doing a lot of movement training with the dot every night. Stitches come out on Tuesday. Thanks for all of the advice.
  19. Gans, too. Fast turn around time from what I hear.
  20. Hello everyone, So, I'm an idiot. Cut the webbing of my left hand open between thumb and forefinger. Got in a knife fight with an apple and lost. Doc says 14 days to heal completely. Florida Open is in 18 days. Any tips for training to do while my weak hand is really weak? I can still use the hand, mostly, but a strong two handed grip or recoil absorbtion with my left hand is out of the question. Movement drills have already been suggested, but anyone have any sage advice for a track to take while I wait for my mitt to stop being useless? Doc said I was lucky and didn't cause any nerve or tendon damage, just ripped the skin open pretty good. Cut away from yourself, kids. My parents were right. -John
