  1. Thank you. I guess I had it right...for a change
  2. I've just been going over the USPSA multi-gun rules and I'm having a hard time distinguishing the differences between Tactical and Limited Divisions. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the optic on the rifle. In Tactical, a scope is okay and in Limited only a red dot or a red dot with an addition magnifyer is okay. Am I wrong?
  3. I keep the pdf rule book on my phone. It's easy to do a search, if needed. I also keep a printed copy in my shooting bag
  4. Some banned states allow grandfathered magazines. I don't recall seeing any Open 10 shooters either, and the 10 round limit could be one of the reasons why the production division is growing the most.
  5. my proposal would have elements that would make it worth the while to do I think ....it can't really be 'unlimited' for the number of shooters they allow for the match ...? an Unlimited number of shooters is not realistic. 12 shooters per squad and 8 squads per day. thats about all you can push through in a day. You might be able to push up to 15 on a squad but that will start pissing off shooters. If you dropped to 8 or 10 shooters per squad you might be able to run two matches in a day but those would be long days Not sure about that. The West Coast Championship had about 160 shooters in centerfire. I don't remember ever hearing entries were cut off because of too many shooters.
  6. Not sure it would work fror steel challenge. There is almost no limit of the amount of shooters that can compete, unlike "run and gun" events. But if you think it's a good idea....go for it
  7. Revolver shooting sure does teach you trigger control :-)
  8. If your goal is to make Master, I'd concentrate on one platform and one division and practice. I have no illusions that I'll make master, so I just shoot what I feel like shooting this week. So far, I'm classified in all divisions except Carry Optics. I've already got the gun set up, just need to zero the red dot.
  9. A little side question. I thought the LA city ban was for any magazine greater than 10 round capacity, with no exemption for pre-2000 magazines?
  10. So you're of the opinion that an action that could get you arrested is not grounds for DQ from a USPSA match, if that action is not explicitly covered in the rule book? I think you might want to read 3.3 again. Pay attention to the word "except" and the context around it. I can't seem to find any mention of DQ in 3.3. Match disqualifications are covered in 10.
  11. Sorry, I was asking GunBugBit. I shoot at mostly in Fresno and Richmond, with occasional trips to Oakdale, Concord, Castro Valley, Winton and Sacramento.
  12. Thought so. What's that got to do with this discussion?
  13. You really should have been in on this discussion a long time ago
  14. Is that going to fit into a legal holster?
  15. I think the "convert to square frame" designation means the bottom of the butt doesn't follow the frame, i.e. it's bottom is the same profile as the square butt grips. It's much easier now that you said you want to put it on a 929 If you still have doubts, why not give Hogue a call? I usually make it a day trip and go down to the Paso Robles store so I can see the grain/color of the wood.
  16. I've used a holder similar to that one and I still prefer the Moon Mountain holder. You have to order the Big Butt for a round frame.like this one: http://www.hogueinc.com/store/products/n-rd-conver-goncalo-alves-big-butt/1463 The slot in the back is cut not as deep for the frame. To be absolutely clear.....is your gun round of square frame?
  17. I can't seem to find a Speed Beez moonclip holder. If you're asking about the holder that has individual post topped with a magnet, it's okay and seems to be the most popular. I prefer the North Mountain holder: http://www.4wheelguns.com/Moon%20Clip%20Holder.html Yes, I've got Big Butt grips on all my revolvers. Only my 29 has a square butt, all the rest are round.
  18. There's the answer that I'm looking for. For now, I'll put my RTS2 on my 627 and play in minor open. At 63 years old the sights are pretty hard to find. Never shot a red dot before, so this should be fun. Skip Oh no!! If they do that, I'll have to get another 627
  19. I made a rack with hooks hanging down and fasten it to the ceiling of the garage.
  20. I know the rule and I follow it, but isn't that a gun club rule?. Just a question....if a new shooter can get DQ'd for handling his gun at the car, it is obviously a part of the range, but you can't go back to your car with a holstered gun without being DQ'd? Aren't these two acts opposing each other by USPSA rules, since your parking lot is considered part of the range?
  21. I hesitated getting the Ghost plugs, but they went on sale for the same price as the GunPro. The ProEar's digital model goes for about $1600 but they had a sale at $1200. I know, you can't put a price on your hearing, but $1200 still makes me hesitate.
  22. the Ghost Stryke have a NRR of up to 30, whatever that means. TheGunPro has an NRR of 15....just sayin My next pair will probably be ProEar digital, when they have another sale.
  23. I've had mine for a few months. They've been back to the shop twice. The weak point is in the battery compartment. Once, it wouldn't open so I could change the battery. I sent them back, with the repair payment, and they were returned. Upon receipt, they didn't fix the problem, it looks like they just pried open the compartment then sent them back. I had to send them back a second time. This time, they replaced the battery holder. I can't remember if I had to submit another repair fee. They do a decent job of blocking out the gunfire, but the electronic amplification is no way as clear as my ProEars Gold muffs. Another bad feature (not their fault), is batteries, once installed, are always on. The oxygen activated batteries will go dead even if they aren't used.
  24. Thanks for the reply. It made me look at the loader again and the spring on the powder drop was a little "loose". Tightened it up and it's fine
