  1. Have you given any thought to a backpack type bag? This one would probably fit everything you want: http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/CED-DAA-Range-Pack-Pro-P2227.aspx I've seen several on the ranges I frequent, but I've only seen one person using it without a luggage cart/wagon
  2. I'm using the Gold (the big ones). The ones that had the NRR of 33. I've got 3 pairs now
  3. I've got both. The Peltors fold smaller, so I keep those in my bag as a spare. ProEars is what I use. The Peltors clip the sound, the amplification isn't even close to the ProEars.
  4. I've been using ProEars Gold for a few years and like them better than the Sordin. They're kind of expensive, but worth the cost. I picked up a back up pair a few months ago when there was a sale for $189. I still double plug when shooting/RO'ing open guns
  5. Per USPSA steel challenge rules: Handicapped/Disabled Competitors: Handicapped/disabled com- petitors must seek and obtain approval from the Range Master for any waiver in relation to the type and/or placement of their holster and related equipment. The Range Master’s decision regarding the safety and suitability of such equipment will be final. Special penalty: A competitor unable to fully execute any part of a course of fire due to incapacity or injury may, prior to making his attempt at the course of fire, request that the Range Master apply a penalty in lieu of the stated course re- quirement. The Range Master may waive or modify proce- dural penalties in respect of a competitor who has a signifi- cant physical disability prior to the competitor making his attempt at the course of fire. (as an example, a wheelchair bound competitor might shoot all of Outer Limits from the center box without penalty). “Procedural Errors”: A competitor whose actions are in violation of specified stage procedures is considered to have committed a “procedural error”. “Procedural errors” will result in a 3 (three) second penalty for each occurrence. Improper movement or failure to move on stages where movement is required would be considered a procedural and a 3 second penalty applied.
  6. Lots of manufacturers. Any 1911 magazine will fit. Personally, I like the new Brownell's Never had good luck with Promags though.
  7. Well, you will have to, if the bullet is pushed in too deeply, so the puller will not grab it. I use the dedicated RCBS single stage press for that. Have both the Hornady and the RCBS pullers, and prefer the RCBS - better control and the feel of quality. Will either work with lead bullets?
  8. Could this be what you're looking for? http://www.classifiercalc.com/
  9. Well, one is a compensator, the other is a flash hider. If there's any chance it's going to work, I'd go with the compensator. It must do some good because all the "cool kids" have them on their guns
  10. I had one of those clamp on compensators on my 22/45. I believe it did two things. 1. It added weight to the front, as you suspected. 2. It added more noise, in this case it's not a bad thing because it was easier for the timer to detect.
  11. Don't worry, you'll recognize them at your next shoot
  12. I think you just put a damper on BritinUSA's day
  13. Just weighed my gun. Won't make weight with the plug. Thanks for the replies.
  14. Congratulations on your win. I hope it means greater membership/sponsorships for our organization.
  15. I'm not keen on the name Carry Optics, maybe Factory Optics instead? I'm assuming that they just don't want the word Production in the title. I think I like the Carry Optics title. Factory Optics, IMO, means the gun must be "as purchased" from the manufacturer
  16. there is also a weight restriction on the plug so if it's not plastic it may be illegalI see a weight restriction on the whole gun but not the plug it's self? See post #1
  17. Would I be correct in thinking that the "flush" plug is approved because, say I have limited division gun with a mag well, I could remove the mag well, leave the attaching plug in the gun and be okay? Assuming the Limited Division gun has no other external modifications.
  18. I'd be slow to blame the optic. Make sure the rifle fits you (think shotgun). Close your eyes and mount the rifle. The dot should be just about centered on your target, if it's not, then adjust the stock/cheekpiece so it is. Don't know what size targets you are using, but at those ranges, you almost shouldn't need a sight.
  19. Just got this flyer: http://www.cdnnsports.com/email-specials/para-ordnance-p14-45acp-14rd-bulk-magazine.html#.VQio_o7F-mc
  20. The good thing about collecting / shooting competition revolvers is that the wife really never knows when you buy a new one - " they all look the same to me " But when there is a depletion in the bank account you have to come up with something That's easy....just tell her you're being blackmailed because of the dead hooker in the trunk of the car
  21. Would something like this help? http://shop.springerprecision.com/product.sc?productId=205&categoryId=30 http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/slide-parts/slide-hardware/slide-rackers/ez-slide-racker-prod60444.aspx http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/slide-parts/slide-hardware/slide-rackers/slide-racker-for-glock--prod42165.aspx
  22. If I remember correctly, they were very thin aluminum (just enough to not push into the cutouts) and filled the trigger cutouts.
  23. Update: Mailman just dropped them off, so I got my gun out of the safe. Took the existing grips off and laid one of the inserts along the frame. Mind you, I wasn't pushing hard. The top of one of the inserts broke off. It seems to be made of a soft, flexible plastic, so this sort of surprised me. It probably wouldn't matter because most of it would have to be cut off to let the safeties work. The bottoms would also have to be cut to allow using a mag well. Also included in the package is a msh pin and 2 pieces of semi-custom skateboatd tape. I guess I'll continue looking for the aluminum inserts. So, to answer the OP's question, it might or might not work. Depends. If you don't mind doing some trimming and fitting of the inserts, you don't mind the grey plastic exposed, bonding the inserts to your frame and you're willing to do a bit of material removal on the backside of the 1911 grips, go ahead and get them. For me, I'm going back to my thinned down, skateboard covered Para grips.
  24. I'll report when I get them. I wonder how long their "standard" shipping takes?
