  1. I don't know if they'll work with standard grips yet, but I just ordered a few. I've been looking for something like that for a while. Thanks for the link.
  2. I have one of these: http://www.amazon.com/General-Tools-Instruments-589-Precision/dp/B000KKHNU0/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1425652295&sr=1-1&keywords=precision+oiler It works well, and when it leaks, it's into it's own sealed cap. What I use though, is different. I recycle an old 1/2 ounce eyedrop squeeze bottle, filled with Mobil 1. It's easy to keep in a pocket
  3. If you'd like another option, you might try: http://www.comp-tac.com/
  4. Not legal. Just found this from Appendix D3, #20: •Suitable for everyday use. “Race gun” type holster prohibited. •Must carry pistol so that the entire front strap (to the trigger guard) is at or above the top of the belt. Female shooters must carry the pistol no lower than the heel of the butt at the top of the belt May not be manufactured or cut lower than, and must cover the slide up to, 1/2” below the ejection port (belt slide “Yaqui” type holster exempt). Each magazine must be contained individually within the magazine pouch. Magazines may not be retained through magnetic means.
  5. Stainless or blued, makes no difference with NM holder. Magnetic ones, it makes a difference.
  6. 200 rounds..I wouldn't bother with it during the day, unless you drop it in the dirt. I don't know about your guns, but my SA Loaded Target can't use grease, unless it's very hot outside. I keep a small bottle of oil (Mobil 1) in my pocket, just in case it starts to cycle sluggishly.
  7. Just go prone! At the Florida Open two weeks ago, they had a crazy stage where you had to start out lying face-down on a wooden platform (the "bed"). Both knees and chest had to be in contact with the bed. My 4-post North Mountain holder was right there in front where it always is, fully loaded with 8 mooncilps. On the start signal, I jumped up off the bed, grabbed my gun from the little shelf, and ran the stage. No problem whatsoever. I believe Bob and Cliff did exactly the same thing. No problem whatsoever. Now this may or may not work with every type of mooncilp holder. But the kydex tension of the North Mountain design holds the moonclips just fine during prone maneuvers. Thanks. I was a little worried because I thought the moonclip rack and me would be competing for the same space
  8. What do you do (when using a Moon Mountain Clip holder) when a stage requires going prone?
  9. Perhaps. Some are just trying to get new blood into the organization. Some are trying to keep shooters with visual problems in the sport.
  10. If you think so, maybe you could write your area director. I just did
  11. Don't think it's a "dead horse" yet, since it's on the BOD March agenda.
  12. That's not at all what I said. What I'm saying is there aren't enough people that want to shoot that particular type of gun to make it worth watering down the other divisions. Don't be so cranky. If there aren't many people that want to shoot Production Optics division, why are you worried about "watering down" existing divisions?
  13. I asked some of the revolver guys around here that had that gun. They told me that the longer barrel was needed to make power factor. It's something I was told by some pretty experienced revolver shooters, so take it for what it's worth
  14. I'm going to fix the forcing cone and crown problems myself. I borrowed the tools from a friend and it's fairly easy to do. I'll also clean the action, replace the hammer and springs myself. Of course, your revolver may not have any issues. I've had a chance to inspect mine and I'm pretty sure the forcing cone and crown need to be fixed. I'll inspect it closer when I get it home. If the barrel is so crooked that I can't adjust the sights, it goes back to S&W. I'm believe that the majority of S&W's guns are still put together correctly and we're just hearing the worst cases.
  15. I believe the ELS system is available as an option. The "regular" 771's and 773's that I've bought have all come with standard belt loops. The loops are not adjustable, you order the belt width you need.
  16. I wouldn't expect a "perfectly tuned" competition gun for $1k, however, I would expect at least the barrel to be put on straight.
  17. I would expect the barrel to be clocked correctly and flesh cutting burrs removed from the forcing cone and crown. If they can't do that at their price point, either raise the price or discontinue manufacturing of that particular model. I just paid $1200 for a gun, and I'm expected to spend another $300-500 and wait another 2 to 4 months to get their guns correct?
  18. Just got back from my FFL, my PC 627 came in today. The crown looks much better than the earlier post However, you could cut yourself on the burrs around the forcing cone and the barrel and frame don't line up. I can fix the forcing cone myself. How difficult is it to reset the barrel? Is it something a competent gunsmith could do, or should I send it off to a specialist?
  19. You guys are scaring me I've got a PC 627 in the mail right now. I wanted it to be good because it's probably the last gun I ever buy
  20. For a small screw, I use a soldering gun to heat the screw.
  21. I prefer the Safariland 771's. Second the 773's. Both are available in left and right handed versions.
  22. I agree with the red, however, I'm not sure I would go with Decot lenses. I've used Decot for 30 years shooting trap. They're probably the best, clearest lenses on the market. Last year, a friend of mine took a hit on his Decot's and the lens shattered...a lot of small SHARP pieces. He called the company ans was told that the lenses are only shatter resistant. I can understand the lens shattering from a ricochet, but it shouldn't break into sharp pieces. Since then, I haven't used mine for rifle/pistol shooting. Things might have changed since then, but I'm not taking the chance.
  23. I've got a few "race" holsters, but I keep going back to a DOH Bladetech.
