  1. Jerry Miculek talks about this in the latest 3 Gun Show podcast http://3gunshow.com/2015/08/26/3gs-029-jerry-miculek-on-performance-vs-expectation-of-performance/
  2. I think that during the off season I'm going to swap in a Gibbz side charging upper onto my 3gun AR.
  3. I like the idea of a 3-gun pistol sub-forum, personally. The reason is that I haven't shot much USPSA, so trying to delve through all the limited major info to determine what is relevant to me is tough.
  4. Kriss USA told me that they do not sell parts, if I wanted to get the pin replaced I would have to ship the gun back. This is kind of disappointing.
  5. Just installed the CGW spring kit in my SDP Compact, it made a huge difference. Can't wait to get it back out to the range. One thing tho- I noticed that my firing pin retainer pin (the pin that goes cross-wise through the slide) has a dent where it has been being struck by the firing pin, most likely due to my dry firing.
  6. I did some projectile price comparisons for 9mm 124-ish gr. over the past few weeks, and added ACME bullets to it.
  7. I have run into these circumstances myself as an SO. If there was an explicitly unsafe circumstance (someone downrange, etc.) I would have DQ'd immediately. Otherwise, I would use as a teaching tool. These kinds of lessons are permanently imprinted on one's brain, without the need for them to end their day early. Use your best judgement based on the skill level of the shooter, the circumstances, etc. Alternately, if it was someone just being an unsafe jackass, they can get the hell off my range.

    Sphinx Sub Compact

According to TTAG, the full-size and subcompact will be coming to market this year. That explains why there isn't much info -- the gun is very new to the US market. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/01/jeremy-s/new-sphinx-sdp-standard-sub-compact-pistols/ There are two on GunBroker currently tho.
  9. Funny, I just went through the same thing with my G17. I ended up using a small flat head screwdriver to push in on the tab while levering downwards to get the plug out.
  10. I have a 24C with ~3-4k on it. Not a single issue, I love it. Just ordered two more.
  11. My wife was shooting a Tavor B16 with a Burris MTAC for all of 2014. The Tavor is a great shooter, but we'll be building an AR for her over the winter. The biggest problem she experienced with the Tavor was propping on barricades/props/etc. I really like the Tavor. Totalling about 2k rounds through it, and it's a damn solid shooter, it's just not a competition gun. Lots of fun to shoot tho.
  12. I've been using 1Password for almost a Decade. All my passwords are sync'd across computers and my phone. This facilitates me generating a unique password for every site. It was originally Mac-only, but now there are 1Password clients for Android, iOS, and Windows. Definitely worth the money.
  13. Nice! I have an Armalite AR-24 (Turkish Tanfo' clone) with the same style front sight and dovetail. I'm gonna have to order one of those from Dawson and try to fit it.
  14. Maybe you got the lick-n-stick kind. Try that next time.
  15. I started using Edge Eyewear glasses this season, and have since replaced all of my shooting glasses with them (clear, amber, and grey) as well as going with a pair of their sunglasses for daily use. They are all have ANSI Z87.1+ protection. Being a (recovering) fat kid, I sweat a lot, which means that my glasses fog up all the time. The Edge glasses with the Vapor Shield anti-fog are awesome. The best thing is that they are CHEAP! The majority of the time I shoot in a pair of Edge 'Fast Link' glasses with "Tiger's Eye" (high contrast orange) lenses. $15.95 from Safety Glasses USA.
  16. I started running an ALS holster after my wife dropped her gun at a local match The holsters work really well, my draw is damn near the same speed with my normal IDPA holster, and I'm sure that with some repetitions, it will be as fast without any issues.
  17. Coming from being a car person to being a competitive shooter, I'd say that shooting is probably cheaper. Like others, my wife and I shoot IDPA and 3-gun, so it isn't cheap, and it ain't gonna get any cheaper. Gonna start reloading this winter.
  18. I've looked at all the photos of loading port work done to the 1301, and I have a few questions- - Is anyone doing any smoothing/radiusing around the entry to the magazine tube? - When I quad load, I noted that periodically I get shells stuck on a lip on the side opposite the shell latch. Has anyone radiused this area? Any other photos that you may have taken before installing the lifter would be appreciated, I'm trying to finalize my plan. I did my SX2 and learned a lot, just want to make sure that I am doing it right. Thanks. Josh
  19. Well, I've replaced the carrier dog spring with 2 OEM glock extractor springs with 3 coils cut off (2 coils weren't quite enough, the spring was binding at full compression), as well as shell stop and carrier latch springs. Running dummy rounds through the action, I haven't gotten and hang-ups, so I have my fingers crossed. Off to polish the mag tube and replace the spring with a fresh one from Nordic AustinWolv Gotta agree on the FireClean. If there is a gun that could benefit from FireClean, it's the SX2/SLP. Thanks to everyone for their help.
  20. Thank you for taking a look. Hopefully moving the carrier latch spring to the rear position and replacing the lifter dog spring will sort this out. Any other maintenance items on the SX2 that should be done regularly? I'm replacing the magazine tube spring as well. Thanks again for everyone's help.
  21. I just ordered two glock extractor springs to put in place of the existing carrier dog spring, as no one seems to have the carrier dog spring in stock. If you could please confirm the placement of the carrier latch spring it would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Gun had about 500rnds when I bought it, I've put about 300 through it with no issues until recently. The trigger group has never been apart. When I did the loading port work, I pulled the carrier latch assembly out, and I cleaned everything multiple times before reassembly. The only shavings I see are a little bit of brass from shooting. Question: When I reassembled the carrier latch, I put the latch spring (the cone-shaped one with the red paint) in its' foreward most position. It looks like there are two potential positions for it on the back of the carrier latch. Which position is the spring supposed to be in for the 2-3/4" only guns?
