  1. Anyone have a lubrication diagram? The factory manual that came in the box is worthless and I work better using pictures to reference.
  2. As I've started to accumulate gear for shooting multi gun this year, I'm wondering what the popular ways are to store the gear when you're not using it. Bins seem decent but may suck for organizing and end up with me just dumping stuff in after a match. Thanks.
  3. As a lefty I really wanted to go with the JM930 for the safety location consideration but having to clean that gas piston every couple hundred rounds made me go with the Stoeger.
  4. I'm new to loading as well and I've started to practice load 2. What's a good benchmark to shoot for? I've gotten down to 10 shells in under 7 seconds from shoulder to shoulder but I don't have a reference point for a time to push for.
  5. Nice work, your cuts by the trigger guard are way smoother and uniform than mine.
  6. Seeing others screw up in useful in avoiding the same mistake myself. Here's me falling down in my first match using a rifle, so others can learn to wear proper footwear without getting muddy.
  7. Opened up the front of the port more and that made a HUGE difference. Getting that follower unshrouded is key to loading quickly.
  8. I tried using a dremel but I gave up on it after about two minutes. Those tools suck. I ended up using a drill with metal grinding bit to do the major shaping work. The shape of the bit itself helped determine the contour by the trigger. Edit: Added pictures of the actual tools I used. Once I got the general shape I wanted, I used a 90° die grinder air tool with a 3M roloc disc on it to smooth out the grind marks. I used the green sanding disc, it's not too aggressive and the bigger shape helps keep things flat. Once all of the big marks were gone, I used emory cloth and 600 grit sandpaper to finish things off. Basically I used the tools I have and I'm comfortable using. I've used roloc discs on a ton of different things, so I'm confident in using those tools on my shotgun. Use whichever tools you feel confident in. Go slow and you'll get the result you want.
  9. Opened up my M3000, I practiced with it and will need to grind more off but I wanted to avoid getting too aggressive with the initial cuts. Lifter didn't bite me either but that might change when I open up the front more.
  10. Picked up my shotgun today. Put a Nordic +6 on my 26" M3000 version, the nut screwed right on. Serial number is 13557XX if that helps narrow down when things changed. Next step is to hog out the loading port and then practice, practice, and practice some more so I'm ready for this year's matches.
  11. Kudos on getting out to a match on a limited budget using your ingenuity. You'll have a great time.
  12. Always nice to see the process for opening up the port on the specific model you have, so I appreciate the time you spent on the video. Look forward to the conclusion video and shooting with mine this summer.
  13. Here's an interesting free float rail option for people looking to save a couple dollars. No top rail but I don't see that as an issue for most. $145 for a 13" rail with the tool to install it seems like a good compromise to me. http://blogs.militarytimes.com/gearscout/2014/01/22/shot-2014-alg-defense-ergonomic-modular-rail/
  14. Other factors play into it as well. I picked up a Rolling Thunder because I got it for $40. I know it's not the ideal choice based on reading what people with a ton more experience, who know what they're talking about, write. I bought it because it was better than my birdcage FH and it was cheap. I still find it interesting too see posts like this though, as more data to make decisions with is a good thing and it's fun to learn how things work.
  15. What changes are made to make it setup for night matches? I like the rear serrations, form and function.
  16. If you're a lefty, the Raptor is probably worth checking out. I really enjoyed how smooth it operated.
  17. Opening up the ejection port for port loading is pretty slick. Dumb question but that should work on other models as well, even semi autos?
  18. That A5 really loads that fast for you?
  19. Completed everything except the long mounts on my cart. I'm undecided on if I'm going to weld some together on my own or just save the hours of building and just buy some atv mounts. The cart was purchased for $12 (delivered!) on craigslist. Everything is in good shape aside from one rear tire needing a new inner tube. The cart frame is aluminum so I decided to build ammo can mounts for ballast to prevent the cart from tipping over on rough or uneven terrain. I was worried about bending or breaking the mounts when the full cans would jostle but I filled them with weights in the shop and both were stable. If I purchased mounts, what do you recommend for a cost effective solution for a rifle and shotgun? I see these kolpin mounts mentioned , are those a good option? Thanks.
  20. Ordered a 26" 3000 last night at my LGS, even after they tried tempting me with a blem JM 930 for $520. It was a great deal but the inertia system outweighed having to deal with cleaning the gas system religiously.
  21. Thanks, ordered a couple sets. I've been pestering people on local forums and on armslist to no avail.
  22. I'm thinking about making or trolling craigslist for a mobile reloading bench. I currently have a nice setup in my garage but it's unheated and I haven't loaded a round in a couple months. My work place is industrial, very well lit and most of all warm. A bench that I could setup on a Saturday to crank out a couple hundred rounds would be excellent. My press is a rockcrusher with a case kicker attachment, so it wouldn't need to be huge. I am able to weld and I suck at woodworking, so factor that in please. If you have setups already, I'd love to see them.
  23. Thanks for checking that out for me. I'm currently on vacation but I plan on buying a copy of the magazine when I get back, I already checked the local grocer but their magazine selection was sparse.
  24. This is a *very* long read up on what everyone else is saying but it has lots of actual testing involved in it to help provide factual information. http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/5-56-vs-223/
