  1. The comment about keeping your elbow in really stuck with me and helped in my transition from dual loading to quads. I'm still practicing with them but I changed my port work to facilitate my thumb position near the shell catch and I've picked up speed. Thanks for sharing the info, we all push each other to get better.
  2. Sent my trigger to MOA to fix my doubling issue, here's what they said after receiving it. "There is measureable wear on the trigger hook, and a little too much nose clearance on the disconnector. Combine the two, and doubling is a distinct possibility." Disappointing to see in a gun with only ~1,000 shots fired but the fix was cheap from MOA and I'm still happy with the purchase. I could have sent it to the factory but wanted a US disconnector and the lighter trigger is an added bonus. If this is the biggest problem I have with the gun, I'll be happy.
  3. Yeah, it's a factory trigger. I wanted to do the 922r compliance anyway and the factory can't do that for me, so MOA is my best option. Otherwise I would do exactly what you're suggesting.
  4. Started having issues with my Stoeger at a match this weekend. The gun doubled multiple times for both myself and my dad. I've run the gun multiple times and it was his first time shooting a match, so that should rule out any technique problems. Luckily, we were able to borrow a gun and finish the match but it was disheartening seeing the factory trigger have issues with only about 1,000-1,500 rounds through it. Here's pictures of my trigger, I don't see anything glaringly wrong but I'll be sending it off to MOA to be gone through and have them work it over.
  5. I've been trying to rack my brain trying to come up with something that could be improved upon at the match and I'm drawing a blank. Everything ran smoothly from the shooter's meeting to the posting of the final scores. The match booklet told me when and where to be, there was water on each stage, and everyone was friendly. Now that I've attended my first Nordic match, I know I will make it an absolute priority to never miss one.
  6. The outhouse stage! This was fun, you had to carry your belt in your hand. Ignore me forgetting the second popper also activated a flipper. Whoops.
  7. The stages looked interesting today, I'm excited to put my skills to the test tomorrow.
  8. What's the fascination with the +1 cap? I thought the whole point of the new tube design was to allow different capacity by just replacing the tube? The price difference on a new tube with spring is $10 on Shooter's Source, just get the correct size you want and sell your old tube for less money. I just went from a +6 to a +8 for $15 after selling my old tube.
  9. Stupid question time. I detail stripped my gun over the weekend and was practicing port loading last night. With the bolt locked back I noticed a rattle coming from the bolt area. I hadn't noticed a sound like that before so I tore it down again. It's the inertia spring moving in the carrier when the bolt is forward. I do t believe I put it back together incorrectly but you never know. Is the spring moving when the bolt is forward normal? Thanks.
  10. Does the 34 round count include the birdshot for dealing with any wasp nests on the route Adam planned? Edit to add a real question: I remember something about an exhibition shooting demonstration? When will that be?
  11. I've also ran the bulk Federal in multiple matches without issue but in the upcoming Nordic shotgun match I will be using AA. It's cheap insurance to ensure that any issues I encounter are mine alone.
  12. I have a 10+1 and have regretted not buying a 12+1. The last match I shot, it would have sucked having a long tube on this table abandonment but the stage planning flexibility outweighs that imo.
  13. Adding the chute to the trigger group is next on my list. I ran my shotgun in another match yesterday and it ran flawlessly again, eating the cheap bulk federal without a hiccup. I also invited my father to his first match, so the shotgun served double duty. Halfway through the stages he started asking me if buying a shotgun like I had was good enough to run in matches. After seeing all the positive comments here and knowing my own results, I answered absolutely.
  14. The bolt handle has a flat spot underneath it, use a large flathead screwdriver and pry gently up on it. It'll pop loose easily versus struggling trying to use your bare hands.
  15. Use powdered graphite in your mag tube, I pour some on the follower and then put it in the tube without the spring. Tilt the shotgun so it runs to each end of the tube until it does so freely and without and hitches.
  16. I run a 26" with a +6 extension that runs flush with the barrel, it's my one regret with that gun that I didn't get a +8 instead. Having the option to load 12 in the tube is a nice advantage versus 10.
  17. Ran my Stoeger in a shotgun only match today, ate the bulk federal without any hiccups. Shot some federal low recoil slugs as well, they cycled great. I was happy with how it loaded as well, I look forward to running this gun hard this season.
  18. I shot a stage last year where the premise was that you were in a shower. You couldn't have any mags on your body, because you're "naked". The stage description did say that clothes were optional but you needed to check with your squad mates first. Notice the crude spray paint shower head in the starting area.
  19. Practice dry firing mag changes out of your back pocket to see which bullet orientation is preferable. I run the Ready Tactical rifle holder and really like it for the price but it does lack the ability to cant the mag, which is helpful as it's usually behind your back.
  20. MOA did an extensive in depth write up on the Stoeger trigger. That seems like your best option. Aside from shooting slugs though, I don't see the advantage in a lighter shotgun trigger.
  21. He means this holster: http://www.skdtac.com/Ready-Tactical-Holster-p/rdt.203.htm The G Code holster is another option, one of the local match organizers mentioned them to me and they're a great option with a good price.
  22. Ended up building my own mounts but used plumbing standoffs to attach my welded gun mounts to the cart tubing. It ended up being really easy and the plumbing parts were only $7 for 6 of them from Home Depot. I'm pretty sure I'm less than $40 into this cart.
  23. Ran the first 100 rounds through mine today, it ate the bulk federal without any malfunctions.
  24. That's a pretty great list, congrats on the hard work. Nice to see local companies on the upper end as well.
  25. I know I would be interested in being legal, if the new parts happened to make a lighter trigger or shorten the reset I wouldn't be mad about it.
