  1. Yes This is also my understanding as it is not a stock part.
  2. Anybody catch the pilot? Has Sean Bean (Eddard Stark from Game of Thrones) as an undercover FBI operative and Ali Larter (Heroes) as his handler/former mistress. I will say that I think Bean is an underrated actor and it looks like he can flip a switch between his identity and his cover.
  3. I'll echo that northern/northeastern Alabama is a fantastic area for shooting sports. You can easily drive to Birmingham and shoot a different sport every Saturday and Sunday of the month if you wanted. Rocket City Practical Shooters and Brock's Gap are two of the big ranges that put on a multitude of matches. Alabama also just allowed suppressor usage to hunt, so that is a plus in my book. You can get 5 year permits at the sheriff's office. Terrain is more "mountainous" in the northeastern part of the state, though some will call our mountains hills. You can search for Desoto State Park, Desoto Falls, Little River Canyon, Little River Falls, and Cathedral Caverns if you enjoy the great outdoors.
  4. gibson8541 - there is a member of the Voodoo sniper team that is in my same area that I'm friends with and I'll see if I can't bribe him to show me some things and share some knowledge. I know I'll be taking a class sooner or later. dauntedfuture - I'll look up match information and see if anything is within reasonable driving distance. Jman - dude, just wow. Shooter Steve - if I'm free, I know where I'll be that weekend. taliv - I'll definitely make a trip down to B'ham for a match I appreciate all of the information and the links to the different websites. Hopefully I'll be able to get the ball rolling and figure this out.
  5. Haha, my first rifle I purchased was an SKS that I'd bang steel at 100 yards with. I honestly don't know what type of matches I want to end up shooting, so I can't say. I did order a Timney trigger from Brownell's today (after going through BEnos so Brian gets a slice of that pie. There are 2 ranges within reasonable driving distance from me that I can go watch a match or two before shooting. I guess I need to invest in a bipod and a sock filled with sand for the bench rest and a mat. So what is the difference between the NRA F Class and the precision sniper rifle matches? Is it the distance or the accuracy needed that makes the .308 not capable? Texas is a little piece from northeast Alabama, but I'll look up the information in case I can get away.
  6. I think that the PRP ultimate trigger kit moves you to ESP if I'm not mistaken. However, it's a super sweet trigger. If I would have known there was a new trigger coming out 2 weeks after I ordered mine, I would have waited because the PRP extreme kit looks awesome. Mainly because of the skeletonized internals.
  7. I'm kinda wanting to try out long range precision shooting, but I don't have much experience shooting past 200 yards. That's about the farthest shot I've taken as my 700 is sighted in at that range. Currently I own a R700 SPS chambered in .308 and would like to start out with the Nikon Prostaff 4-12x scope with Nikoplex reticle for the time being. It has the factory flimsy stock and recalled trigger, but I will be upgrading the trigger when I figure what to replace it with. Considering a Timney since I hear good things, but I just don't know. The attached target is a 3 shot group at 200 yards on a lead sled.
  8. Esther, good shooting, but I noticed the gun isn't recoiling hard enough and somebody needs to chrono your ammo, make sure you're reaching PF. Your Virginia "homeostasis" is thrown off and you're wanting to find your sweet spot. After the transition, you'll be able to establish your routines and get back into a groove that will assist you in your goal of reducing and eliminating your gobbles. Be like water and adapt. It fills and takes shape of whatever container it is put in. Sometimes we are not capable of doing things in the time constraints we give ourselves and our timetables we set aren't met sometimes. Life plans aren't always what we thought they would be either RE our conversation from the other week. A recent message at church focused on this aspect, "perfect timing." In short, God has a bigger plan for us and He also has His own timetable on when that will happen. That always makes me feel tiny and insignificant due to not being in control, but the path that has been set before me is so far out of left field that I never considered being an elementary PE teacher. And I'm extremely surprised that I ENJOY being around the little kids. I know that you've been down a few different paths in your life going from your different programs of study and professional experiences. Just because you're not sure what path you are on right now isn't a bad thing, God put you where He wants you to be.
  9. Have you ever heard of Apples-to-Apples? Cards Against Humanity is the adult NC-17 version It's a game that you take turns being the card czar (basically the judge that picks up a card that the others have to play on). Card czar cards can range from asking questions to fill in the blanks. The other players lay down a card from their hand to make the funniest answer they can. ATA is a comedy game. Cards Against Humanity is about as inappropriate as you can get.
  10. Pistol new is 700, trigger is about 145 new, sight is around 50 I think, magazines are roughly $30 apiece new, holster around 70 and mag release about 25. You have about $1150 in the package before taxes. This price is based on you having the 3 magazines from the purchase of the pistol already and buying 5 more.
  11. You'll find a wealth of information on the aftermarket offerings if you spend some time in this sub-forum. I have parts from Springer and Powder River. They are top notch, and I'm sure Canyon Creek produces excellent products as well.
  12. I really do love the XDM. I'd get my SO almost anything if she wanted to shoot, if she could shoot the XDM that well, I'd get her one.
  13. I love playing Cards Against Humanity with my group of friends whenever we're able. Now, I found out that you can play it ONLINE! I'm not affiliated with this website, I've just been playing this for the last 2 hours. http://pyz.socialgamer.net/index.php
  14. AP Custom 15" on my optics rifle, it's gone through a season and a half without me busting it.
  15. Is the ESP magwell compatible with Arredondo extended base pads? I haven't purchased either items yet, just trying to figure out for USPSA and 3 gun.
  16. If you're close to northeast Alabama, come out to Cavern Cove to shoot. It's the range for Rocket City Practical Shooters. We have 3 gun, IDPA, USPSA, cowboy, steel, and from time to time the Ruger rimfire challenge.
  17. My right ear gives me pain from time to time but I have a mild ringing in both my ears when I go to sleep, have to turn the radio on to ease it.
  18. I'd have to agree with the above. The "big 3" of shooting sports currently are the Springfield, Smith, and Glock and they have lots of aftermarket support. I would suspect in the years to come. However, if HK's VP9 is successful and can get aftermarket support in the next few years it would be another viable striker fired pistol to compete with.
  19. I want an Interceptor Also, I want tank tracks on my truck...
  20. Just saw today that there is a trailer out for a new Mad Max movie. I read somewhere that this was going to be set between Mad Max and Road Warrior (1 & 2). Side note: Hugh Keays-Byrne who played Toecutter in the first Mad Max movie is in this one as Immortan Joe.
  21. So you can install an aftermarket trigger and be good to go?
