  1. Won't believe it but redbull will loosen up anything, actually kinda scary considering all the jäger bombs I've consumed!
  2. What gr bullet cause that's to much TG for a 180 but right there for a 165.
  3. This sport has to many puffed up range Rambos, get sick of these idiots treating our little 15 man home range shots like we were at championships ,our little matches are a place for the inexperienced to practice and have fun and newbies to learn the sport, these puffed up RO's should only shoot area matches and championships.
  4. My wife had been coming with me to shoots for years, the RO knew her and knew straight up it was her first shoot. She was shooting for fun not points since she was not even a USPSA member.it put a very bad taste in her mouth, I'm glad she continued to shoot, which by the way I no longer coach her. When a person finally gets up the courage to participate and some overbearing jerk who wants everybody to know he is in charge ruins it for her is just a little hard to swallow.
  5. That's a bit harsh - how was the out-of-town RO to know your wife was a new shooter? If you did that when I was holding the clock, I'd be talking to you afterwards too - you did violate 8.6.2 after all (though freaking out and threatening DQ is a bit excessive for a Level 1, I'll agree). It's not like it's a major deal for a new shooter to blow by a target or miss a mag change... you could have kept quiet and then explained it to her afterwards. My view is that judicious coaching of a known-newbie by the RO at a local match is reasonable if the RO is comfortable doing so. Interjections from the peanut gallery (related or not) should not be acceptable. The only possible exception is a safety problem that the RO hasn't noticed (e.g. squib he didn't hear, person down range etc.). If you want to coach your wife at a match, perhaps get approval from the RM/MD to RO her yourself?
  6. My wife's first shoot which took her forever to get the confidence up to do, also she was not even a uspsa member. She was running a course of fire where there was a mandatory mag change, she was about to forget it so I said mag change, the RO freaked out and said he would DQ me and there was no coaching allowed and said it very sarcastically, well we have a small club probably 20 members and this guy was from out of town so it did not set well with the club, long story short the timer was taken from him and he was told to quite acting like a puffed up assclown, and that we were friendlier to our new shooters than that.
  7. My wife started out with a 38 bodyguard because it fit her hand and that's what the guy at the local gun shop told her. Now she Cary's a .45 sti Electra and loves it to death, won't carry anything else, bet ya can't guess what my carry gun is now!
  8. They are a excellent bullet and the 124 gr bullets have run flawless in my daughters limcat and my wife's Cameron's, but I run 115 gr and can't get the PF I want with them thru a hybrid barrel.
  9. Walter I would tend to agree with you but I won't to the extent of shooting into a bucket of water to retrieve and inspect my bullets. They plating stayed intact except where the hybrid holes in the barrel where at and there is no accuracy or tumbling issue. The only thing I could think of is the hybrid holes where damaging the plating enough and letting all the gas escape to soon, but the damage to the plating is minimal so this is only a wild guess!
  10. I run about the same as what you are looking at except my gun is a shorty with 5 holes, I run 11 gr of 3n38 with 115 gr bullet at 1.235 to get a 175 PF.
  11. I have a open gun that has a Akai comp on it with 5 popple holes in the barrel. My question is why is there such a big difference in the way the gun runs between jacketed and plated? If I run plated bullets I can't get the muzzle velocity to get the comp and barrel to work, only seem to get about 173 PF and the gun is all over the place but with jacketed I can reach 178 PF and the gun flattens right out. Why is this, my thoughts would be plated would have a higher muzzle velocity when in fact the opposite is true.
  12. My daughter just shot it with a 6.0411 HF, she is at 59.57 and trying to get into B, wonder if that will get her there?
  13. JJ Racaza recommend that I try archoil so I'm gonna give it a shot and see how it works.
  14. I posted on this last month had been using slide glide and loving it, then it got cold, and no beuno!
  15. We use extreme bullets and they have .223 in stock.
  16. I use green cause I shoot open on a regular basis and I tend to not use my iron sights properly if I'm looking at a red dot, but that's just me.
  17. I respect your opinion, my gun shoots under a minute, always has, I have no issue with a gas gun except the afore mentioned, I hate gas in my face, with no wind my eyes will start watering and it affect my long rang vision, so until I get to the point I shoot better than the equipment I have now I will continue to use it.
  18. Just to throw one more out there to think about, I use the nightforce ultra light which I tend to like
  19. Not to beat a dead horse but I've owned a LWRC REPR that I would shoot out to a 1000 yards, which is also a piston gun, so I just don't buy that DI guns are inherently more accurat.
  20. Of course I have compared groups or I would not have mentioned that, I have 3 other AR plat forms I shoot also including my first DI gun which is not a bad gun but just doesn't group as well, I have two piston guns LWRC and POF which bolth shot sub MOA the LWRC is better and lighter the POF is a tank, so in short yes I have compared my piston gun to DI guns at range and It does shoot as well as the DI guns.
  21. I run a LWRC IC SPR and love it, I have a swaro z6i and run 69 grain nosler and it's as accurate as anybody else out to 600, but I have a lot tied up in it but the reassurance of knowing its gonna run is worth it, also it has the spiral fluted barrel so the weight is not a factor for me or my 14 year old daughter who competes with it also.
  22. I have the same issue, I run a Akai gun with 5 holes and hate the upright mount, shay told me the alchin extreme works but I have yet to purchase one for verification.
  23. Just thought I would reply to this, didn't read all of the comments so sorry if I copy a post. I am relatively new to reloading and the shooting sports, I had problems with squibs and other assorted issues and it was embarrassing, any help from other shooters was welcome, one of my issues was using tight group and to much lube, powder would stick to case walls and not ignite, another prob was not enough crimp, bullet would come out going into battery and seat itself in the barrel, and also I'm sure just a few old fashioned squib, regardless it was A very dangerous issue, and since my 14 year old daughter and I took up this sport together it was very disconcerting, it would take my mind of my ge and I did not perform as well, luckily we have been able to identify all our issues and didn't have a squib all year which helped my daughters game quite a bit, I still shoot like shit but that's cause I'm old and slow, regardless it was a very dangerous issue and needs to be addressed immediately before someone gets hurt.
