  1. Just started practicing with my ALS 6378. I'm amazed how fast it is with the thumb retention. Good pulls are no different than having no retention at all. You will love it. Give it a try.
  2. Call me a non-purist, but I shoot heavy optics simply because my rifle is .308. I specifically look for matches that allow me to use my Versmax and my .40 because those are the guns I have and my wife won't let me have more yet The local matches here don't care, they just want people to shoot. There are a couple of big matches that have rule sets that allow me to use those guns for heavy metal. You just have to look around. No, it's not true HeMan, but I don't care. I just want to shoot. Do I wish my rifle didn't cost almost $2.00 a shot? Yeah... but until I get a .223. That's the hand I've been dealt. Look around, find a match and go shoot!
  3. Nevermind, I found two holes that were aligned properly and just mounted it. If this is the wrong way to do it, let me know...but it seems secure.
  4. Ok, help the noob... I have heard that you need a QLS forking system to attach an ALS holster to the ELS system. Is this true? If so, It seems like the QLS backing plate only aligns with 1 hole on the ELS belt. That doesn't seem terribly secure...is that how it works? Or do I have to mount the QLS backing plate to and ELS fork and back plate system? (That seems a bit overkill) I think I need the 5 year old explaination on this one... The rest of my belt system makes sense, adding magazine holders and caddies shouldn't be a problem. Just confused about this holster situation. Thanks in advance, Greg
  5. Christmas is here! Christmas is here! Now to put it all together!
  6. Not sure how I feel about the first loss. Wasn't the biggest fan of his personality, but I tell ya, that guy pulled it out over and over again in elimination matches on Season 4. Can't believe how much Bass Pro Shops money that guy has. Sad day that he's now lost twice in a row using his the gun he's a specialist with...
  7. What match are you shooting tomorrow?
  8. http://www.imdb.com/chart/top?ref_=nb_mv_3_chttp IMDB's (Internet Movie Database)Top 250 of all-time. See where your favorite movies rank. I'm assuming anyone can vote on the movies on this database and it's a hugely popular site. Probably millions of votes.)
  9. Ahhhh sorry! I figured you'd PM top secret stuff like that! Did you drill into the stock too? or just the handguard? Got any pics? Also, who do you like for versamax mods/upgrades? I e-mailed Andy with 303arms, but no response yet. Need good work and quick turn-around time. (I know it's a busy time of year...)
  10. Has anyone figured either of these things out? I'm for sure going to need to mount a sling for a match this summer, and probably a light. I'm looking for the LEAST Macgyver way to do it. I saw Urikagold sent his in to Crucible Armament and had a couple of sweet sling options mounted, but is there anything else? Also, what about the light? A rail would probably be my first choice, but mounting that on my new sexy Versatube....uhh... I would have messaged Mark directly, but thought others might have good ideas too. I look forward to all of your creative answers. I know you guys will come up with something. Thanks in advance! G
  11. Geez, way to go Greg. Next thing you'll be asking for slug shots at 150 yds..off hand...at an Auto Popper. Yeah, I thought for sure everyone would understand that that was a joke... Maybe we should do it blindfolded too? I only have one goal for NWMGC... Don't get DQ'd on the first day. Oh, P.S. From what my wife Leilani tells me MIGHT be a possibilty...you are the coolest person on the planet.
  12. How about... I was just kidding about the no shoots... that target looks insane enough. Fun, but insane for a newer shooter like me.
  13. Ok, now put a couple of do not shoot targets behind it and it'll be perfect... This looks awesome to shoot! I'm probably going to spend $20.00 in ammo on it.
  14. Ok, noob question about the ELS system. I need your help. What products and accessories, other than straight from Safariland, are compatible with the ELS system? I could probably get away with going mostly all ELS, but their shot shell caddies aren't what I'm looking for if I want to eventually learn quad load. Also, if there are better holsters of mag holders that are compatible I would like to know about those. I know most people do CR Speed belts, but I got a 50% off coupon at the NRA show and I would like to take advantage of it. I'm looking for answers like: "brand A, B or C are completely compatible with ELS because they work like this..." or "This system is the same as ELS and is compatible" or "I bought this one and I had to modify it like this..." Basically, I've watched a video on how it works. I get that, but I don't know enough about other brands to know what works with it and what doesn't. I've seen other people with ELS systems running Bladetech holsters and AP shot gun shell caddies...but I don't know how they're doing it. Modifications? Or are they just compatible? Is it as easy as slapping on of those forking systems on them? Thanks in advance! G
  15. LOL I walked around that show for 3 days straight, must have gone to the remington booth 5 times...totally missed that gun. SMH
  16. Thank you Mark! Once we got the old tube off, it was a snap to install! Love it!
  17. I must say I'm kind of jealous. I've spent the last 45 min trying to get my old tube off. I've heated it, used a wrench with a towel to protect the tube...It's rotated about 90 degrees. You'd think once you broke the loctite it would just unscrew. This tube is laughing at me... and I'm not a small guy. I'm just hesitant to drill a hole in it and trash it...but it's already got some light scratches in it from trying to get it off. Ugh... Thanks for the video Mark! Once I get this tube off, it should be a snap. Can't wait to try it out!
  18. Hey all! I see lots of talk about what .223 or .308 ammo people are trying out on their guns to get them dialed-in...but I don't see much on pistol rounds. I've always used the cheapest stuff I could find (Usually Blazer 180gr.) because until recently, I was just a simple plinker at the range. But I want to step it up and get into 3-Gun matches. What ammo is everyone using for competition? I don't care if it's USPSA, IDPA or 3-Gun. I'm assuming finding a good ammo that works well in my gun (Glock 22) is key...but If you could throw out some ideas on where to start. That would be great! Do I go lower grain for less recoil? What things should I be considering? Let's start with factory ammo... Re-loading is a whole other animal. Thanks! G
  19. My lips are sealed!!! (If you save me one.)
  20. Thank you Mark! I hope to be adding one of your one-piece extensions to it someday soon!
  21. The wife ordered me a Versa Max for my birthday on Jan 30th. Just got it last night! Can't wait to pull the trigger on this bad boy! What a blessed life and a great wife I have!
  22. If I have to pick JUST one... Shawshank Redemption hands down. Other movies I can't seem to get myself to turn off if they're on TV: Fight Club The Matrix Cool Hand Luke The Boondock Saints Se7en American History X Dances with Wolves High Fidelity Kill Bill 1 and 2 Primal Fear Most any superhero movie
  23. I think you're good with the Swarovski/Warne RAMP mount combo. Then again, who'd wanna run the same set up that Keith Garcia does? Not sure what the C-more would do to the set up. Where are you going to mount it? Near the eyepiece? Near the front base of the mount? I'm assuming since you're worried about the switchlevel hitting it, it's near the eyepiece, but is that your only option? Maybe mount it up a bit further... or maybe it'll just work out for you! I'd love to see some pics of the configuration you figure out!
  24. You will respect my authoritah!
