  1. Yeah sorry. I called this morning. I made some poor assumptions about the 20MOA thing. seems like they are the same height.
  2. Warne Scope Mounts has a new version of their XSKEL mount built on a 20MOA platform. I did a little research and realized that the Warne Scope Mounts website shows the measurements of the regular XSKEL centerline at 1.435 in and then shows an inaccurate 1.435 in. for their 20MOA mount. It must be substantially higher. I will be letting them know in the morning that the website is wrong. (Which isn't as douchey as it sounds because my wife works there.) Bottom line is, if their 20MOA LRSKEL mount has the height you want, 119.00 for the LRSKEL mount from Warne seems like a nice deal compared to 232.00 for the LaRue. Both great mounts if they serve your purpose, but why pay more if you don't have to. Call Warne Scope Mounts at 1 (800) 683-5590 and ask for Justyn (Pronounced Justin) Cory or Randy. One of them should be able to get the correct centerline height for you. If not, I can measure mine and get you a ballpark measurement. Here is the link to the product. It's available in 1", 30mm and 34mm. Again, the centerline height is almost guaranteed to be wrong. Disregard until you get a confirmation on the height. http://warnescopemounts.com/product/lrskel30tg-20moa-extended-skeletonized-30mm-msr-mount/
  3. Here's what you do... Call Warne Scope Mounts (503) 657-5590 and ask for Leilani or Justyn (Pronounced Justin) and tell them you bought a RAMP and really feel like an XSKEL would work better for you. If you want the 45 degree offset, let them know you'll need an A645 (the model number of their single 45 degree add on mount) THEN, you pray that 1. you've been nice enough to have them help you out and 2. That they have what you need in stock (Things are pretty slammed right now.) 3. You do NOT tell them I said this would work because it might not, but they're good people and their custom service is outstanding. If they can help you out, and you are very nice. It just might work. If it doesn't, not harm done. They're good people, give it a try.
  4. No, I don't reload. I've shot a suppressed .300 BO a few times. I would love to have one. What buffer you using? Twist on the barrel?
  5. I'm dreaming of a .300 BO SBR with a nice can on it. I don't know that much about piecing them together so I thought I'd ask all of you. Is .300 BO built off a .223 platform or a .300, or .308? (yeah, told you I didn't know much.) What should I know about ammo when it comes to home defense Vs hunting? Buffer, BCG considerations? Who makes a good barrel and how much does that matter on an 8"-10.5" barrel? Speaking of, is there an optimal barrel length and twist rate? What else am I not thinking of? Thanks!
  6. Call Warne Scope Mounts. Ask for Justyn (Pronounced Justin) 1-800-683-5590. He will help you out. You'll just need to know your rifle model and optics choice (Preferably the diameter of the tube and objective lens diameter) They will have anything you might need. You can also check out their website. Looks like they have a scope mount selector feature now. http://warnescopemounts.com/
  7. Thanks for all of the great ideas! I've been watching The Flash, Blacklist and Man in the High Castle. I will be adding more of your suggestions as time allows!

  10. Hey Everyone! I'm looking to simplify my oils, solvents, greases etc. Do I "NEED" copper cleaners, Hoppe's solvents, oils, CLP sprays? I would love to narrow it down to 3 or 4 really good products, but I feel like I have a box full of sample/trial size everythings. Now, if you "smarter then me" people say, "hey, you really need these 6 things, then I will go with 6 things... But the box of samples has to go! I have researched some, but it's so much easier to ask with so many experienced people on the forum. So, what are those top-end do-it-all items that are must haves? Thanks, Greg

Bwahahahaha! Nice! Golf...only because I used to "attempt" to play for a while. Wax all of your body hair or shoot your next match in only a thong and your belt?

    G43 Basepads

I have Taran Tactical +2. I also love the way it extends the grip. Now my 43 feels like an extension of my body. Now I just have to change those sights and that trigger!

Killian's Who take's the shot? Precision Rifle Champion, or Top Military Sniper?
  14. Let me start by saying I know very little about precision rifle. I was in a conversation the other day and it made me wonder... If you had to have someone take the shot and whatever target you wanted the shot taken...who would you pick? Top precision rifle shooter, or top military sniper? You can take play this like the "Deadliest Warrior" show if you want. Obviously there are a million factors involved here and some of the top PRS guys are indeed current or former military snipers. But in what situations would you pick one over another? Bottom line, you're picking "kickball teams" for whatever shot you need taken. Which do you pick and why? OR If this is easier... stationary targets at 300, 600, 800 and 1000. 25 shots at each target. Who hits the most?
  15. My current range bag is shot... I'm looking for a new one. I've been looking at the 5.11 Tactical Range Ready Bag, but I was wondering if I'm missing anything more appropriate. I would like an all-in-one bag to bring to the range. A few different types of ammo, a pistol or two, eyes, ears, cleaning gear, tools etc. Is this the bag, or is there something better out there?

I love scotch... Scotchy, scotch, scotch... Here it goes down... down into my belly. Jagermeister or Tequila?
  18. Not being sarcastic at all...but what is your definition of high-end? Most expensive? Highest level of performance (wow, that would be a fun and highly debated thread.) Being from Oregon, I am super "Pro-Oregon" But we also have two or three very expensive rifle companies with varying levels of involvement in the rifles they build. At some point, you'll find a rifle that is fantastic and shoots better than most any one's skill level... and still find 10 different "more expensive" rifles or ways to make a rifle more expensive. AXTS seems to be a great rifle manufacturer. I await other answers as I would like to know more about their rifle's performance. Other "high-end" rifle companies to look at (that either build, assemble or both) Assuming you're looking at their top-end offerings: JP Rifles, Mega, Armalite, Colt Pro, Erath3, Noveske, Cobalt Kinetics, Taran Tactical and of course AXTS. Again, all of these rifles can out-perform most skill sets and there are many more great rifles out there. If you point the forum in a more specific direction, we might be able to narrow things down better.
  19. On a more superficial note... I'm sad because Rhino had one of the coolest logos out there. (says the graphic artist wanabee)
  20. Dave, I think it depends on how fast you can shoot in the dark. If you are fast, I think the laser causes some people to "over-aim." they spend too much time getting the laser in the dead center of the target. The people I've seen use lasers and are less speedy in general got good hits on targets using the laser (therefore less misses) I chose to go with a really bright headlamp and a light on the shotgun. I tried to make it as "daylight" as I could. Sometimes the headlamp washed out my sights, but overall I felt faster drying to shoot in the "day." Then again, as with many aspects of shooting, if you can get a setup you like lasers or not, and practice the crap out of it until you feel comfortable, I'm sure you'll do fine as the indian would overcome the arrow. but those are my two cents.
  21. Hey guys! I have a VX-6 1-6x24mm that I stopped using because it had a plain duplex reticle and seemed to be a fat duplex reticle at that. At the time, Leupold's custom shop didn't work on VX-6's so I stuck it in the safe and let it sit. Now, they do work on the VX-6 and was going to run it over to Leupold to have the reticle switched. (only $160 for the switch, which doesn't seem too bad considering I wouldn't use it without a better reticle.) I was looking to put the CMR2 in it, but wanted to run it by you guys and see if there was some other reticle I was over looking. It would be used for 3-gun. It would also be non-illuminated reticle. What do you guys think?
  22. Warne Scope Mounts has a new 20 MOA one-piece mount. $136.99 at Midway. I have my Viper PST 6-24x50 in it as well. http://warnescopemounts.com/product/lrskel30tg-20moa-extended-skeletonized-30mm-msr-mount-black/ and a blog post about it here: http://warnescopemounts.com/new-20-moa-msr-mount/
  23. What have you guys been watching? Lately I've been on a band documentary kick, (Journey, The Eagles, Rush etc.) I need something to get into. What have you guys loved or found interesting?
  24. I'm looking for a Good, Better, Best for my wife's first AR build. She definitely wants 16", would want it lighter rather than heavier and isn't as much of a gear whore as I am so probably doesn't want to break the bank. But, I would like to give her the entire range of barrels and let her choose. Feel free to put them in categories, add input, rank them, take out some, add others. The more input the better. Here's what I have so far: Bartlein, Lilja, Krieger, Proof, Shilen, JP, Noveske, Nordic Components, Criterion, Black Hole Weaponry, Daniel Defense, Bravo Company, Wilson Combat, Rainier Arms... Also is there a Wilson? Not Wilson Combat, just Wilson? I know that between there are probably OEM manufacturers making barrels for multiple companies, so the real list might be shorter. But I appreciate your input! Thanks! Greg
  25. I can't figure out how I HAVEN'T felt my tempurpedic sleep hot. I slept on one in Texas during the summer with the AC set to 80 degrees and still didn't feel it was hot... and I sweat all of the time for any reason. I have one now in Oregon and we keep our thermostat at 69 or 70 and it's still ok. I'm sad people feel hot in them as I love the bed. I currently have a big box fan in our room, but it's angled to just graze me and it's on the lowest setting and we have a down comforter. I hope you don't experience this and it works our for your wife's hip.
