  1. Hey D.J. My wife works customer Service for Warne, They are closed for the holidays, so I asked her about your problem for you. (Customer service an within 74 minutes during the holidays.) 1. Eye relief is something Warne knows about and is currently working on. That's all I can officially say about that, as it's not my place to talk about what a company is working on and when it's developing new products. My wife and I are both assuming you don't have a full picatinny rail on the top of your AR. This of course would fix your problem as you could move the mount forward. Warne has been a long-time hunting company making top-end parts for a long time. There are few scopes that need that much eye-relief. (Swaro 1-6, vortex 1-6 and apparently now your bushnell.) It's a relatively new problem for them, but something they are working on to stay on top. Honestly, it doesn't affect all people with these scopes, only the ones that get way up on the rifle. 2. The A645 (That 45 degree mount) is made for mini-dots and flip up iron sights. Your RTS doesn't seem very big in the pictures I google imaged, but it might be a combination of it being slightly larger than say a deltapoint or something, AND the size of the bell on your bushnell. (being pro Warne, I'm going to blame your bushnell just for fun.) All kidding aside, something that people are doing is to move the 45 degree mount toward the front of the gun near the barrel and run the red dot that way. I know personally that I was having issues with my switchview hitting my magpul MBuis sights, so I had to take the rear sight off. (I didn't use it much anyway) But, the dimensions on the Warne RAMP mount and the SKEL are the same other than the rear of the ramp is gone and the skeletonized parts that have been removed from the SKEL to lighten it up. If you can't live with the eye relief, know there is a solution and Warne will take care of you. You need to be comfortable when you shoot. Try running the red dot up front. You won't be the only person doing that. Call them on monday and ask for Randy, Justyn or Leilani. They will be more than happy to help you. If you have any other questions, just post or PM me. I'm at work all night, but I have a boring job. My wife is over at her family's house visiting out of town family members, but I'll find out all I can. Warne's customer service is exceptional. It's just the most unlucky time of year possible. Good luck on your match saturday! Shoot fast and clean! Greg
  2. Have a glock 22. Would love it if I could throw on different slides for different applications. Can you put a 35 or a 24 slide on a 22 frame? Seems like the full sized guns would have similar if not the same frame. Also, could I get away with something like a 17L slide on it? If you can, are there any other considerations in switching out slides?
  3. My shotgun is 51. It fits nicely . It's a great bag as well.
  4. http://www.coltcompetitionrifle.com/Firearms/ColtSportingRifleModelCSR1518.aspx add Burris tac30 or Mtac... GTG Down the road, upgrade trigger. But it's a great, affordable start
  5. Hey gang, Looking to build a .223 and the Seekins Precision SP233 caught my eye. I think it's a great looking receiver with a cool splash of style. It's really unique looking. Obviously, there are more important parts to building an AR. But what are the things I should be considering? Is a lower just a lower? Forged Vs. Billet? Matched upper and lower receivers... is there that much benefit if any? Obviously fit and finish are issue. accuracy is important, but is that more of an upper/barrel/trigger puzzle? Looking for your thoughts. If any of you have experience with Seekins receivers, let me know. If you don't like it, why? (And what do you like?) I saw Pat Kelley shooting one in a promo video. if it's good enough for him... come on. Thanks in advance guys!
  6. Haven't shot as many big matches all over the country, but I would save up for the Crimson Trace Midnight 3 Gun match in Bend, Oregon. Well run, top end and one of the most unique matches out there. NW multigun is also a great match, but there aren't that many full auto, night vision, IR, rocket launcher, fully catered matches out there... this one is.
  7. I'm sure Leupold has bigger fish in the sea other than the 3 gun crowd, but yeah, I wish they had more variety in their reticles and would also be able to custom shop the VX-6. I run one with just a duplex reticle. While it serves my needs in 3 gun, I probably should have made a choice to at least go with the one you have.
  8. Hey guys. Looking for a hunting forum on the level of BE for a person to get started. I have no clue which ones are good or not. Need to start from the ground up: which gun to get, what round, what round for which animal etc. Then of course moving on to gear, techniques, strategies etc. Looking for a forum like this, without a bunch of pompous d-bags that are willing for people to ask a few silly noob questions. Thanks!
  9. If you choose to go that route, these are rock solid. http://www.opticsplanet.com/warne-45-degree-picatinny-tactical-side-mount-adapter.html you can probably find them other places, this was just the first link I grabbed.
  10. I wear Columbia Conspiracy outdry shoes. Great traction, light, springy heel... they just feel great on my feet for hours. might also check Montrail Bajada outdry for another similar high traction trail shoe.
  11. On my ELS set up, the holes of the QLS fork system lined up with 2 of holes on my els belt. (There just happened to be two holes a tiny bit closer on one section of the belt.) Using only 2 holes has stayed solid so far. I know other people have just drilled another hole into the belt and have had success.
  12. Nathan, thanks! But you weren't tremendously wrong. I am super proud of 2nd, but we both know what a small division it was. Next year I hope we both are up there. Hopefully with a higher match percentage than this year! (Darn that Scott McGregor for Being so awesome! )
  13. Uhhh... Nathan. Heavy metal WAS a class. Greg Smith 2nd Place - Heavy Metal -NWMGC 2013 ok... maybe it was a SMALL division. A SUPER small division. But I love my engraved mug! Can't wait until next year!
  14. My shotgun shell put in backward... sigh. Sincerely, The Noob
  15. Anyone have experience with this service yet? Comparisons to Zev Tech, Vanek, Vogel etc.? Is it a kit or straight gunsmithing? so far, everything I've got from them is top notch. But those were products not services. Eager to hear your responses.
  16. Carbon Arms makes them. I have a couple of dozen. I like them. http://www.carbonarms.us/Shotgun-Accessories/12G-Dummy-rounds.html
  17. Hey guys, Just for fun. I was curious about what your opinions are regarding pistols. Being a newer shooter, I've always thought STI and SV were top dog in the world of pistols, but as my knowledge grows, I realize more and more that I know less and less. I know there is no objective way to list a good, better best...so these are opinion-based lists at best. So, give me your list. Good pistols, Better pistols and the best pistols on the planet. (Maybe not pistols you think are crap or this thread my end before it starts.) Feel free to rank guns where they might be with or without mods or custom work. This is totally open to opinions. Think of it as a buyers guide to guns. If you want your list to be for a specific category like limited or open, go for it. Yes, we all know it's the indian not the arrow, but this would be assuming the indian is the constant in the equation. It's just for fun... So... Who goes where on your list?
  18. http://www.cerakoteguncoatings.com/resource/locator/ I have been checking out cerakote coatings for the last week or so. this link will let you search by state. I live in Wilsonville (about 15min south of Portland) and there's a place here that does cerakote that is on of the certified places for cerakote (according to that website.) the place is Buster Beaver Designs (maybe not the most Tacticool name...) but there are lots of pictures on their facebook https://www.facebook.com/BusterBeaverDesigns I called them and they said turn around is 2 or 3 days. That seems fast to me. I talked to a guy named Chase and he was all about having me come into the store and check out samples of their work. (to me a sign that they are proud of the work they do.) Just my .02

    This...

    This is still freaking hilarious!
  20. Safariland has .308 mag pouches. They fit my pmags just dandy. Bladetech said they have mag pouches for the .308 as well.
  21. Has anyone tried TTI parts on your Versamax? If so, which parts work and which don't? Most curious about the charging handle, the bolt release and oversized safety. I know the bolt release works after talking to Taran on the phone...but even he was curious to know if the safety works. So, if you have experience with these accessories in your Versamax, let me know. If they work, I'll probably go with them...if not, maybe some Nordic or Briley parts. Greg P.S. I'm totally grateful for this gun/shooting advice "database" called BE. Your help has been totally helpful.
  22. Bought some magazine extensions from them today. Was going to get 3, Taran walked by the phone and I heard him say he'd give me half off a 4th one. (Nice upsale by the way. I did get a 4th.) Called at 3:30pm. At 5:30 was surprised with an email on my phone with a tracking number and shipment confirmation. What??? Not only same day shipping... almost same hour? Nice work! It was a pleasure talking to Annika and Taran today. They answered all of my questions thoroughly. Mostly... blown away by the fast shipment. 2 hours. Wow.
  23. I have a Glock 22 (.40 cal) wondering about the basics of magazine extensions. 1. Which one do you guys like best? (Taran Tactical, Arredondo, Dawson Precision etc?) 2. Are the extensions caliber specific? (I don't often see options when looking through websites.) 3. What other things do I need to consider? Are they plug and play or do I need to worry about follower problems etc. 4. Anything else I need to know that I'm not thinking of? Thanks in advance for your help! Greg
