  1. Dude, read the glossary for "will"... If mandatory the word should be Shall. Well, it's in the rule book, and it's pretty clear. (Edited in order to eschew obfuscation (I love that tag line!)
  2. Well, "If you are finished..." isn't actually a question. There's no question mark at the end of it. You don't state it with the upturn in vocal tone that signifies a question. It's a statement that says that if the shooter decides they are finished, they go on to the next step, which is ULSC. If not, they just keep on. It's not interference. It's a legitimate stage command. And it isn't going to be issued while someone is banging away at targets (which might seem like interference) but rather when they've stopped action.
  3. We need to be thinking about this a lot harder. It's still a rifle, in a handgun discipline. I know a number of people would have "fun" shooting their PCCs, but it's still a handgun discipline and the rifles are, in my opinion, intrusive and unwarranted. Yes, one can rationalize it from one side to the other, but it's still a rifle, and there are places for that. I shoot USPSA handgun because I want to shoot handgun, on courses made for handgun and without long guns. If I want to be on courses with long guns, I can go to a long gun action match (such as USPSA Multi-Gun or any of the variants). If a PCC division of that (or a stando-alone match) is needed, someone can put it on. It's not reasonable to try to shoehorn everything/anything that someone wants to shoot into our discipline. Just because you can figure out a way to do it doesn't mean you should do it. IMHO.
  4. At LII and above (sectionals, Nats) there should be a clear count of guns with and without optics. The ones with optics are actually shooting "CO", and that would give us a clearer idea of how popular that genre actually is. On a slight tangent, one can use "lesser" equipment than a Division allows, but can you keep up? Well, like others, I've classified in various divisions with "lesser" equipment, such as C class in Open with a Production gun (Minor ammo) and 10-round mags (C was my Production classification level at that time, and my C in Open was about 8% lower). And I'm a Super Senior, with vision requiring extra correction to use iron sights. It's not the arrow, so much, although optics and compensators do seem to help.
  5. How would that be, if it is jamming before it even gets into the chamber? (or did I miss something?)
  6. Sounds like you have less than 1 year in the game. What's your classification? Are you a certified RO? And you are arguing with a respected senior member. Wind and rain in your argument could be interference. What does my classification matter? There are a GM's that aren't R.O.'s, does that mean they have more credibility than a Range Officer or CRO? What is your classification and certification level? Good to know rain and wind is an external interference so next time I shoot in the rain with bagged targets I should get a reshoot. Yes, you sound like you're arguing. Stop it. Go to your room <grin>.
  7. You're right. Ideally, between the timer RO and the scorekeeper there shouldn't be one so bad that the crowd has to call it, but it can happen. But because the RO didn't see it, he can't DQ the shooter, only offer a reshoot due to external influence. Some R.O.'s don't like to enforce the rules, so they let them slide, this is dangerous and doesn't do anyone any good. What would be letting the rules slide in that scenario? If the R.O. on the timer and the secondary R.O. is paying attention and a shooter broke 180 so bad that the gallery had to call it,1. The R.O. isn't paying attention or 2. Letting the guy slide. Neither scenario is good and both are dangerous. Are those really the only possibilities? I'm my experience the PG has called "180s" that were well inside, but the PG was at an angle that looked, to him, to be off. As an RO I've been watching the gun, from a good angle, and I knew it was okay but some guy who was well behind us wanted to argue.
  8. No, not a safety issue. Yes, the RO doesn't know what he's talking about. Nothing about this in the rule book. There is some controversy and many different opinions, though...but still no rule to support banning it. Also a recent fairly long thread on this topic. A search should find it.
  9. PCC as a separate discipline, or a part of 3-gun, that's a good idea. It's where it fits. We've seen a lot of discussion about how to "shoehorn" it into pistol matches, but it still doesn't fit.
  10. He shouldn't be allowed to compete with the Open gun at a Revo match. He brought the wrong equipment, sorry about that. Unless we're into "do whatever you want, we just want to make everybody happy", of course. If he did it deliberately in order to be able to shoot his open gun regardless of the match's advertised purpose, that would be unsportsmanlike conduct (although of course we probably wouldn't be able to "prove" it).
  11. That's the best argument so far. I have a .38 SC with three 5/32 holes and a 3-port comp with two smaller horizontal holes in the front chamber (hybrid). It likes 3n38 best and gets dot-jumpy with anything faster. The smaller amounts of faster powders (WAC, HS6) in 9mm aren't going to create as much gas.
  12. Really? In Jerry Miculek's hands, maybe, but the average Joe I see shooting rifles around here isn't all that quick. And the time they take to get prepared has already been mentioned. Context?Plate rack at 9 yards= not much difference. Plate rack at 35 yards= colossal difference. How often do we see a 35-yard plate rack in USPSA? (Please don't just tell us you've seen one - I'm asking how often.) Again, this type of question makes one wonder how far the rifle people will want to go to "feel included", like complaining that there aren't enough rifle-type challenges in the game (like 35-yard plate racks, for instance).
  13. That wasn't helpful. Nimitz asked a question, and not an unreasonable one if we look at all the discussion that happens around the less-attended Divisions (Revo, L10, even SS) and whether one (like L10) should be "eliminated". Give the man a break, he's just said out loud what I suspect a number of us have been wondering. And for me, I don't know the genesis of L10, so discussions like these are helpful.

  15. Sounds like your picturing more of a TacTimmy convention than a USPSA match. If it makes you feel better, my holstered pistol muzzles my knee all day and I still manage to sleep peacefully at night.YOUR knee amigo.I understand your dislike for other people's guns flagging your body parts, that part of my post was just some light humor. But like Slemmo said, why the hell would be people be walking around like that? That would suck for everybody, most of all, those carrying the slung rifles if they helped tape and reset like they are supposed to. I'd vote that no way should there be "slung rifles". This just keeps sounding more and more like a way to sneak multi-gun into USPSA, under the guise of "it's fun" and "it'll grow the sport". Sorry, I don't agree with rifles in USPSA, except perhaps as a local-match "fun" side event, which will make a few people happy and get them to the range.
  16. No, if it falls out of the holster at lunch you have to get a RO to pick it up. No DQ unless you pick it up yourself. But I see your point. And I've looked at too many rifle and shogun muzzles at local 3-gun matches - from people who were regulars at 3-gun matches. Not fun. Doesn't happen with pistols (carried around holstered), which is what we're about.
  17. I've only been shooting 5 years, including a few nationals and some area matches and some sectionals near home and away from home, and I don't think I have yet seen a gun in the box in a uspsa match. I see them in idpa all the time. perhaps the pcc guys should shoot idpa matches. I'd love to see the concealment. How about Classifier 99-21, Mini Mart? That'd be a gas with a rifle ("Mr. Bad Guy, please wait while I back up a few steps so I can pull this really long gun out from under the counter and aim it at you..."). For concealment, you'd naturally use the "duster" coat, which is used everywhere by self-respecting bad guys. I know, I've seen it in the movies
  18. Another approach to slowing the slide's momentum at the beginning of its movement (and reducing the dot's movement in recoil because the slide is hitting the frame more softly) is to alter the mainspring tension by changing springs. I originally had a 19# with 2 coils removed and recently put in a stock 17#, which is somewhat stiffer. The slide is noticeably more resistant at start of its movement backward when racking. More importantly, the dot seems to move less and my splits on 7- and 15-yard Bills were lower. And the trigger feels more crisp. To see if this was just because I was having a good day, I'm going to test this more "scientifically" by bringing mainspring housings with both springs and see if I (and the timer) can tell a difference. It'll be interesting.
  19. Why do you need to have a label? I simply don't agree with you. I don't think rifles belong here as a Division. Locals can have side matches, fine, but don't pretend this is a rifle organization. I wasn't answering a question, just stating an opinion on the topic.
  20. MBX is okay, but you may or may not get the capacity you want. To get 29 loadable in my .38 170mm mag I had to buy TTI spring & follower (more money). My STI 140s and 170s work fine. Bought the tunes, Grams spring/follower, and TTI base pads (4G for the 170, to make the gauge, and 7G for the 140s, to make 24 reoladable). No secrets, just a lot of shooters' experiences.
  21. Is Engrish your second language?
  22. Why is it with y'all that anybody who doesn't agree with you is a "hater"? CO does that, too, and isn't making them any more popular.
  23. Yep. PCC is for RIFLES and, despite being fun for those who own them, doesn't even belong in the discussion.
