  1. I had the chance to shoot my custom V4I3 today side by side with a V12 today and I'm ready to call my experiment a success
  2. There's also a myth coating around out there that a MO protects the sender against fraud...
  3. WHAT?!? There you go again gathering actual empirical evidence! Take a walk on the wild side
  4. I've never used it, but after reading this thread I'm going to try some
  5. oooh I like that idea. drop in barrel/comp for limiteds and/or gold customs. replace the V8 or V12 with a more traditional comp and maybe just a V4 (4 port holes, 2 on each side to line up with the factory coffin cuts). Another +1 for this idea. I never really got why Tanfoglio was so committed to the v8/v12 barrel format on their open guns. An offering with a well thought out traditional cone comp design (or two) where the user can decide if they want barrel holes or not would be welcomed. Also, the idea of offering barrels is a great one and long overdue. Maybe work with a company like Briley and get some 6" .355 short chambered barrels. Henning could ream/cut to length/thread to spec upon the customer's request at purchase, or the customer could ream/cut/thread the barrel. Hopefully at a cost that is more in line with reality vs what EAA is offering. I didn't realize we were talking custom comps here!?! Now you're speaking my language! I've talked to a handful of smiths about a drop in barrel comp setup for the Limited, heard lots of excitement, but never had anything pan out. Henning, if you're listening I'm in
  6. Looks awesome, too bad to hear you weren't blown away by the results.
  7. Personally I look at it like a group buy: I know lots of local guys want what I see in front of me, so I buy a lot to defray the costs of shipping and hazmat then distribute to my friends at my cost. In doing so I take all the risk that prices will go down or that I've overestimated the demand; that risk entitles me to make a profit, but rather than reap a few extra dollars I prefer the less tangible goodwill among the local shooting community
  8. Did you overhear an argument over theoretical match results for GMs between two shooters? Or a real policy discussion between people who actually have the power to make changes?
  9. They don't work at all until then? Why is that? Super Dude, I've tried lots of comp designes and haven't shot one yet that does squat below that point, have you? Maybe with a whole case full of really slow powder like SP3, but either way it's not going to be more gentle that 9 minor with Titegroup and a 147 is it?
  10. With all due humility my answer is no I'm resourceful and I don't hesitate, so I have what I want.
  11. If 125pf loads are bothering your hands, rimfire might be your best option, a comp isn't going to do anything unless you get up around 140-150pf. If I were you I'd shoot an Open Buckmark for no score.
  12. Where did you hear this?!? Inquiring minds want to know
  13. Happened to me once with my revolver, eight times in a row!?!
  14. Yes, it's a great minor gun, although a few matches and minor scoring gets old pretty fast.
  15. Unfortunately I won't get a chance to shoot this gun over a chrono until January, so I'm runnin' blind on load development; 9.3gr of SP2 under a 115gr bullet gets me ~170 out of my 9mm CZ with a 5.1" barrel with no holes, so I'm assuming the same charge and bullet in my 5" 38 with seven holes won't make major, but it's good enough for some preliminary testing.
  16. I figured out my feeding problems today! I always assumed the breech face on a 38 super slide was the same as that of a 9mm, but I was wrong (record this moment in history ); as luck would have it I just happened to have a 38 super slide sitting in my safe I could measure and compare . The 9mm Tanfo slide does in fact have a smaller breech face than a 38 super slide (0.406" vs 0.422") which seems to explain the feed issues I had when shooting 38 super last week. The good news is that I think I just stumbled upon the perfect 38SC Tanfoglio! Henning once said it was a real pain to get the 38 super extractor tuned right to run SC reliably; since SC has the same size rim as 9mm, this seems like the right match.
  17. If it's a Gold Team I recommend 38, 9mm is a higher pressure round and with 12 holes in the barrel it takes a lot of powder to make major so the barrel lugs take a beating. Better yet would be a custom Limited 9mm with a comp and optic, just a few holes or no holes at all.
  18. I've shot 9 major in Open for two years and recently bought a 38 super just to try... I think I prefer 9 just so I don't worry about the brass.
  19. The position of the sear leg and the lifter leg in relation to the sear cage is not necessarily an indicator of which resets first since the areas of the trigger bar where they reset are not necessarily even. You've done some good detective work to figure out which leg is too long so you can either take metal from the trigger bar or the lifter, I recommend the lifter because it's easier to get to and it's cheaper to replace if you take too much (plus if you mess it up just let me know and I'll send you another )
  20. That is a factory Tanfo hammer, my Limited has the same one; I think it may have predated the heart shaped hammer. 8-10# recoil spring and 16-18# hammer spring will serve you well. The reduced power trigger return spring for CZ from CGW will reduce your trigger pull by as much as 8oz, CZ sear springs are also lighter than Tanfo springs and a reduced power trigger plunger spring from Henning will get you were you want to be
