  2. Which size CED/DAA RANGEPACK do you prefer assuming use of RangeCart
  3. These shoes are great. I just bought a 2nd pair.
  4. Has anyone started making brass mag basepads yet? Seems like an easy way to add weight. I have seen some for other guns that add 5 oz for 140mm mags.
  5. Interesting idea using 3D printer. I think the answer is yes it could be printed. There are a huge array of printing technologies with different materials. One can even print with carbon fiber infused into plastic.
  6. A heavy gun allows for a sloppier trigger pull assuming they both have same 2lb trigger pull.
  7. I have DPP, RTS2 and Romeo 3. I use the DPP and the glass is much better. Really the Romeo 3 and RTS2 seem to be the same.
  8. Try Gallant coated bullets. They come in 355, 356 or 357.
  9. 9 Major does not break the laws of physics.
  10. Quickload is an internal ballistics calculator. It does not have a list of loads with data, rather you must enter in a bunch of information and it calculates those conditions. It does have a database of powders that contain data like burn rate but are complex because it includes things like density and heat of explosion. It also uses things like case volume, seating depth, bullet length, barrel length, bullet weight … etc. I use it as a guide and it defiantly helps speed up load development. I can estimate safe load for say 160PF and then chrono. With a new bullet or powder there will be some error due to lot to lot variation of powder and bullet/barrel combination. I then calibrate quickload to match actual fps and then use Quickload to find powder charge needed for 172PF. I then load up more bullets with new powder charge and re-chono. The results have always been very close. At this point if I decide to change OAL Quickload will tell me new powder charge. The software should not be used to skip actual chrono but help the process and give a lot more information to what is really happening.
  11. Quickload software is able to estimate the amount of powder burnt. I found this interesting when I first started using Quickload but I don't think it matters much other than more unburnt powder would likely make the powder seem dirtier. One large benefit of slower powder is generally lower pressure. Here is an example comparing powders assuming same 124gn bullet, case volume, and velocity. Silhouette: 6.69gn, 100% powder burnt, Max pressure 49,692 HS-6: 7.38gn, 97.5% powder burnt, Max pressure 48,451 3n37: 7.05gn, 98.8% powder burnt, Max pressure 46,894 3n38: 8.38gn, 86.9% powder burnt, Max pressure 47,145 (note: heavily compressed) AA7: 8.90gn, 82.1% powder burnt, Max pressure 44,718 Shorter OAL does not make a noteworthy change in burnt powder %.
  12. 3n38 and other slow powders like AA7 don't fully burn 100% in a pistol length barrel. I believe HS6 is the slowest powder that burns nearly 100%.
  13. 3N38 is a good option for 124 grain and up. Seems like 115 will cause a mess but some people do it. I prefer AA7 with 115 to 135grain. Cheaper and denser than 3N38.
  14. Some are using 3N37 or HS6 with 147. The slower powders like AA7 and maybe 3N38 give a sluggish feel.
  15. I like the 155s and 170s. I prefer to reload a 155.
  16. DPP for sure. I have both sights and DPP is much better. The glass is night and day difference in quality.
  17. 9mm. I started last season with HS6 and 115/124. I am now using 122/124 with AA7.
  18. Glenn is a great guy and builds a great gun. He is a one-man shop so he does not crank out a huge number of guns per year. I have 2 of his guns and planning a 3rd. Also, he has one of the best comp designs on the market.
  19. Thanks for the clarification Steve. Can you speak about new barrel lug design vs traditional 1911 lug/link?
  20. I am assuming the comp needs to come off to remove the barrel from slide hence the need for no loctite screws.
  21. I think they should offer simplified open gun. No bolt-on iron sights, one barrel and no mags. I think the glock style barrel lug could be a nice innovation. I don’t know the pros and cons of glock vs 1911 lugs. Seems the glock lugs style would be easier to fit a barrel to frame/slide.
  22. Can you take a picture of the gun with the slide off and loaded magazine inserted. I would like to see ejector shape and bottom clearance to the next round. Are you running 1 or 2 springs with Aftec? I recommend 1 spring in the back position. What is your recoil spring and is possibly binding and not allowing full slide movement? Delta Point Pro is the easy fix.
  23. For me AA7 and 3n38 where similar burn rates and similar recoil. AA7 is very dense and is cheaper so I use AA7.
