Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. My extractor broke (short extractor)and along with it I lost the pin on my P226. The extractor kits come with an extractor and spring but no pin and I'm having trouble finding one. Does someone know where they can be found or give me the dimensions on the pin possibly with photo so I can have one machined? I've got the short extractor. Thanks
  2. I have a couple of Max Michel's in 40 and the rear sight on the one notch plate is loose. Sig doesn't make the rear sight for this gun anymore and I was wondering if there is a "drop in" replacement that someone knows about? I tried a Dawson LPA but the dovetail angles and length didn't fit. Thanks
  3. Joe4d - yes the slide goes all the way back and the gun does work but the springs are original and have about 20k rounds through them. So I thought it was time to change out as springs are reasonably cheap maintenance. Postal Bob - I did not know about the smaller diameter guide rod and the fit. I 'm going to order flat wire springs - I believe you when you say they don't list all springs on the website so will give them a call. Thanks for the info.
  4. Looks like I will be hunting around for a flat wire spring as a replacement then. Just not comfortable with that length difference.
  5. AHI I've heard that but I'm not sure I believe it. I recognize the flatware spring is going to have more coils per inch and could be a bit shorter as such but almost an inch seems like a lot. As for worn out springs I've only seen 1 recoil spring worn out and that was on my P226 and it was considerably longer than the new spring. My problem is that I think a worn out spring would tend to lose its coils (lengthen) not gain them and become shorter. Thinking out loud here but - wouldn't it take more energy to wind something tighter than just becoming limp. (Again that's just my opinion and not a fact).
  6. I recently changed out the recoil springs in my 1911 from a 14# flatware spring to a 14# round wire spring. I noticed that there was a difference in length of 0.75 inch (2cm). That seems like a really big difference in length. Does anyone happen to know if that is "normal" or why there is such a big difference? Should I be looking at cutting the round wire spring? Would appreciate some help here. Thanks
  7. I replaced mine in both my guns and used the standard width spacer from Brownells. I did polish the sides a bit with 1500grit and finally 2000 grit.
  8. I own two in 40cal. All I did was a trigger job so they are now 2.5lbs. Also as I shoot IPSC. had to change out the ice to an Ed Brown so they'd fit the box. IMHO the plastic insert may not standup well (pun intended) to heavy use but as I say that's just a guess because I changed it out before really giving it a chance. Really like mine and they run well.
  9. Did you recently change to a longer COL or projectile style(round nose vs blunt). That can do it.
  10. Tried the Dawson Precision and they would not drop from the gun with any consistency when empty. Some older Dawson Precision mags a friend has dropped fine, but the new style don't and by style its mostly cosmetic but the tubes are just slightly different. Picked up some Tripp Research mags. They drop well when empty but I'm having feed issues. Installed a EGW mag release, switched to a different projectile (sharper nose) and the seeing fewer FTF issues. Currently working on increasing the COL.
  11. For the slide to frame channels - Lubriplate 105 - its a NLGI 0 grease.
  12. I ordered a couple of spacers 0.060" which is about 0.003" oversized and then used 800, 1500 and finally 2000 grit to get a good fit and polish on the spacer. Using the spacer I might have got an ounce or two on the trigger but not much more. I have two sigs with 2.5lb triggers and couldn't tell the difference between the two e.g. the one with the series 80 and the one with the spacer, by feel alone. I have made up the other spacer for the second gun but now I'm debating whether or not to put it in. I guess the reduction in parts is still a benefit though.
  13. Great information thanks! I'm going to be ordering a spacer kit today!!!
  14. I measured mine as ChuckS mentions and found it to be standard sized on my Sigs. That said I haven't ordered one yet. Not sure if there are a set of clear pro's to eliminating the series 80 or not. Other than the original 1911 design not having one.
  15. I recently ordered this one for my match elite Dawson Precision Novak cut fiber optic front sight part# 020-306-00 Dawson
