I picked up a CMMG "bargain bin" M4 wanna-be today from a friend for $600 It is a CMMG lower and an unmarked M4-type barrel. I couldn't resist for $600. It looks new. He paid $650 for it from CMMG. Questions: * who makes the CMMG lowers? * how can I tell the twist rate of this unmarked barrel? * how can I tell if it's chrome lined? Thx.

As an every day carry, I always seem to come back to the Spyderco Delica. Delica I also like the new Spyderco Tenacious - which is IMO one of the best deals around. Tenacious I also like the Native, but find it slightly hard to open than the Delica and Tenacious. I also like the BM Griptilian, but find it slightly too thick in the pocket. The Mini-grip is nice too, but doesn't alow a full have grip for me. I modified the handle and it now works for me.

What's the length of the gas system on an 11.5" AR upper? Is it the same as a 14.5" upper? Does it vary by manufacturer? I'm planning on having my smith cut a 14.5" barrel down to an 11.5" SBR. Any thoughts/advice? Thanks.

Stuart - I've had good luck with my P3AT. I don't shoot it a lot, but it's not made to be shot a lot. No jams, etc. Personally, I like to wait until a gun is in production for a while before I buy one to make sure the maker works out the inevitable kinks.

Very cute Stuart. He looks similar to a small Corgi in the face. Here's our 6 year old Corgi, Molly. Pound for pound, she's 10 times tougher than our Great Dane. RGS obviously has a Corgi too.

The Mirage drive is based on how a penguin uses its flippers to swim. It's counter-intuitive that it makes you go forward, but it works great.
