  1. It seems that the popular screen sizes are 3.5" and 4.3". Is bigger actually better or just bigger? Does it interfere with your vision out the windsheild? I will be using it on an Infiniti G35 Sport, so my windshield is not as big as an SUV.
  2. Do the Garmin's talk to you and tell when to turn like the TomTom's? I have a gift certificate to Cabelas, so I want to buy one there. Here's the selection: Cabels GPS I'm leaning toward the TomTom One XL at $249.
  3. So I didn't want to spend $2,500 for the navigation option on my new car. However, I am directionally challenged and want a GPS for the car. What are your recommendations? TomTom, Garmin, Lowrance? I've only seen a TomTom - and was impressed. Thanks.
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we frequently shoot jacketed ammo and the jacket accounts for most of the back splatter. I've seen Cowboys shooting steel at 5 yards.
  5. First question: How close can you safely shoot steel with lead .22lr rounds? I know our rules state 10 yards, but the Cowboys shoot steel with lead really close. I’m shooting hanging miniature IPSC plates that have some “give” to them. Second question: Does that answer change if you shoot Remington “Golden Bullet” rounds? The box says they are copper plated, but I’ve also heard them described as copper washed. In any event, is three a copper jacket that can separate from the lead and create back splatter? Thanks for your thoughts.
  6. This is good advice. I'm not fused, but I'm bulged at L5-S1 since last August 2007. I haven't competed in a long time. I've finally found a good PT/doc combo and I'm getting better. Question your doctor and your PT - YOU are in charge of your health and blind faith in doctors is a big mistake IMO. Good luck Kurt!
  7. Welcome and thanks for serving our country.
  8. My son wants an Airsoft rifle for his birthday and I'd like to play with it too I have a gift certificate at Cabela's I'd like to use so I'm sort of stuck with what they have. I'm looking at the Tactical Force TF16 (M4 replica) Here's a link: TF16 Any experiences/opinions? Thanks.
  9. Is there a difference between new trigger bars for the G17/22 frames and the G19/23 frames? I was ordering some Glock parts and noticed that they are different part numbers.
  10. Mike does good work at good prices. BTW - love the mag well work too!
  11. I'm surprised tonsof cyclists don't die every year. You need to pick your ride time and place very carfeully. With cars speeding and everyone on cell phones, it's almost suicide.

Eric - what brand of pepper spray? I've only used it once (Fox spray on a lab) and it worked very well. You're right about the possibility of self-contamination. An asp is also a great idea and easlier to carry than a walking stick. What brand is good? I assume you didn't have it when Zulu as attached by the Collie?

    Dog attack

Our neighbor brought his boxers over to play with our dogs yesterday. The male boxer is about 80 lbs and is nice, but obsessed with balls and ripping them apart. He quickly popped an old soccer ball in the yard and them ripped it to shreds! After is was deflated, I stood on it with all my weight and he was strong enough to rip it out from underneath me. I played tug-o-war with him and the deflated ball and I could not hold onto it. His jaw strength was incredible. He's supposedly pure-bred, but his head looks like he's a pit bull. Seeing this made me really appreciate the strength of some dogs. If he can rip a leather soccer ball apart with little effort, he could tear up an arm or - goodness forbid - a neck. If pepper spraying the dog gets your dog too - that's probably OK because it will not injure the dogs but can stop the attack. If that didn't work and you don't want to shoot, I would use my Spyderco IF I was really worried about serious injury to my dog.
  14. Yes, but you must dry fire it to the point that the squeeze cocker is an automatic reaction. That may be very easy for a competitive shooter, but maybe not for someone who is a novice without any drive to practice or dry fire.

Guys, I highly recommend a can of Fox Pepper spray when out with your dog.

Yes I have 5&6- any idea if these are a problem with the Dawson ext. base pads! If it's not broken, then no fix is needed.
  18. Charlton Heston died Sat night. A truly old-school man in the best sense. I will always remember him in his role as Moses and as the NRA president. RIP Charlton Heston

    Dog attack

Sometimes it's hard to predict how dogs will act around other dogs. Our female Welsh Corgi is the sweetest dog to all people and male dogs, but HATES other female dogs and wants to fight - regardless of the size. Our male Great Dane puppy is completely laid-back and not Alpha at all. He loves all other dogs, except for a German Shepard puppy on our street (about 1 month younger than our Dane). We have to keep them apart because they'll fight. Dogs have their own language and perceive things that we don't. IMO, the bottom line is that owners should always be in contol of their dogs in public at all times.

Fox pepper spray worked very well on the one aggressive dog (yellow lab) that I've sprayed. Glad there's no permenant injuries.
