  1. I'm wondering about the hold-up also. They use Mec-gar mag bodies for the P-14. They could easily outsource the P-16 mags to Mec-gar and just have it made a tad longer. There must be something more complex going on at Para that we don't know about. Maybe they've been focusing more of their energy on the single-stack market?
  2. Kneelingatlas, and to the rest who contributed to this thread, thanks so much for this great thread. I shall definitely go back to this thread as a future resource!
  3. Hi Guys, I know that the mecgar 40 S&W mags can be loaded up with 9mm bullets and used in a 9mm CZ. Can the opposite work? I have several mec-gar CZ 75 mags in 9mm and wondering if this can be used in a CZ-75 in 40 S&W. Thanks in advance!
  4. Since you have replaced the barrel and the accuracy didn't improve, then it's not a barrel issue. A loose slide/frame fit should not affect accuracy that much. Barren/slide fit is more important. Let us know what u find out.
  5. I recently purchased a P-01 after several years of waiting. I have always been leery of aluminum frames. The gun was perfect in every way and the slide/frame/barrel fit were outstanding. The frame rails were very robust and gave the impression that this gun was meant for serious duty use and could take a beating. However, upon inspection, on first disassembly, one of the frame threads for the grip screw was cross-threaded as the screw came out. I was quite dismayed. Had to send it back to CZ and they re-tapped the frame. It was a deal-killer for me though (likely not for others), so I sold it immediately. In doing a web search it appears these aluminum framed CZ's do sometimes come from the factory cross-threaded. The hole for the rubber grip is so tight that it makes it impossible to feel the grip screw engage the frame threads. I don't hear this happening as much on their steel-framed pistols. The trigger is no comparison against my 2 CZ TS's, so it will need some tinkering. You should find lots of info on this forum or theoriginalczforum. Good luck.
  6. I've never seen that type of damage to a 1911. May I ask what happened to cause that?
  7. Thanks guys for the replies. I boxed up the pistol and sent it out this past Saturday. Usually, I like to work on small issues that crop up with my new firearms. I've had many bad experiences w/ warranty repairs (other manufacturers). On this gun, everything was perfect except for the cross-threaded hole. It appears to be a common issue on CZ's aluminum framed guns. I was ready to re-tap the frame, but my concern was that if it didn't work, then the warranty would be voided. Decided to give CZ a chance to make it right. Will report back when the gun returns.
  8. Yeah, I already called CZ. They quoted me 4-6 wks for the repair. I've never used cz for any repairs so just wondering how's the quality of their work. I've used S&W, Springfield Armory, and Ruger in the past and they service their weapons fairly well. I've dealt w/ other companies too that pretty much butchered my gun for very small work.
  9. Hi Guys, I figured to ask you guys since a lot of you work on your own guns. Just brought home a brand-new P-01 and it is perfect in every way, except one. One of the holes in the frame for the grip screw is cross-threaded from the factory. I was able to remove the screw, but any attempts to gently reinsert the screw is unsuccessful. Tried some spare brand-new screws and it won't even enter. Any suggestions on how to fix this other than sending to the factory? Also, generally, how is CZ's reputation as far as the quality of their repairs? Thanks in advance.
  10. Grabagun has the TS in 40. I just purchased one last night and it seems like they have more. They also have 1 more SP-01 tactical in 40. http://grabagun.com/firearms/handguns/semi-automatic-handguns/cz-75-tac-spt-40s-w-5-4-2-t-2-17rd.html
  11. Thanks for the great pics and post. Makes barrel fitting more understandable by amateurs like me. I've been learning how to ream chambers, fit slide stops, thumb safeties, trigger groups, barrel bushings, dovetail sights, extractors, ejectors in the last couple of years. Barrel fitting is still one of those things I'm afraid to tackle. Maybe one of these days. Info like this answers most of the question marks that I have. May I ask what kind of lug cutter you use?
  12. I too am a new CZ TS owner in 9mm. At first I thought the original recoil spring would be too tight. Have shot 500 rounds through it. Used stiff loads, as well as light loads that wouldn't eve lock the slide back on my 9mm 1911 with a 7# recoil spring. Function with the TS was perfect. If you are just a plain target shooter like me, you won't need any mods. Even my plastic guide rod still looks good. Enjoy your gun. I really enjoy shooting my TS. I'm a latecomer to the CZ fanclub.
  13. Hi Guys, I have a Kimber Sts Target 9mm (bought new). When I was at the range, that rear sight elevation screw was very very tight. Even with the allen screw (on the side) removed, and properly fitting screwdriver used, I was not able to adjust the elevation. I eventually got it to move after some drops of oil and shooting the gun, but also buggered the slot a little. I called Kimber to see if they have any replacements for that rear sight elevation screw, but they said they don't have that available. They only have the complete rear sight. I asked if their sights are manufactured by another company but the rep said those are their sights. (quite odd not having spares for that) Would there be any sources for this elevation screw? Also my gun is shooting around 1-1.5" high at 10 yards which I found surprising. Front sight measures .185". Per the rep, that is the tallest front sight that they have. The only mod to this gun is an EGW custom-fit angle bore bushing. I don't know if this is the new style Kimber rear sight, but it just doesn't seem to have enough down adjustment. Even with the sight screw bottomed, the rear sight blade is still sitting quite high. Have any of you guys experienced this? I'd appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.
  14. Tico, 1.145" sounds a little long. Try seating your bullets a little shorter. What you described is actually very common. Many gun makers don't put any free-bore in their barrels, so the bullets get stuck on the leade even before the case fully chambers. Stock barrels will chamber most factory loads, but when you reload, it's not guaranteed even if they chamber in a case gauge. So you have 2 options: seat your bullets shorter. In the CZ forum, some members even go as short as 1.1" or even less; or ream your chamber to add some freebore (this is what I've been doing with my guns). Remember, if you seat your bullets shorter, pressure will also increase. Good luck.
  15. There appears to be no scheduled release yet because they don't have their "redesigned P-16" mags available yet. When the mags become available, likely the guns will become easily available too.
  16. Just want to thank you for your replies. I've learned a lot from these forums. Here are some pics of my new baby. A couple of dings on the front dustcover from the factory. Not a dealkiller though for me.
  17. Yeah, when I tried to move my SP-01 sights many years ago, the sight itself peened without moving. I'm not unfamiliar with moving very tight fixed sights. I've done this on several of my pistols, even 3rd gen. S&W pistols with the very tight Novak sights. I have a 5" Wilton vise and have those very fat brass punches. I wouldn't want to mar anything on my new baby especially since the slide rails are external and may be more susceptible to marks/peens. Maybe a torch is needed just to make sure any residual loctite from the allen screw has spread to the dovetail?
  18. May I ask how strict are the gun laws in Germany? As far as pistol ownership is concerned?
  19. I just ran into this issue with a new 1911 in 9mm. This was the only gun that would not chamber any of my reloads loaded to 1.120. This was with 124 gr LRN (S&S casting), Berry 124 gr TC, Zero 115 gr FMJ. All those loads would feed in my Sig P226, Glock, SA 9mm. I guess a lot of these bullets sold for reloading will have a longer bearing surface and will bump into the leades before fully chambering. I have since reamed that barrel and all my loads plunk in. Just brought home my new CZ 75 TS last night and found out it will not chamber my reloads also. So I may have to ream this next week as well. OTOH, I can experiment with a shorter OAL like the previous suggestions and see what works. I'm just not so comfortable about loading too short since it may increase chamber pressures, especially if a bullet is accidentally set back. If your gun order already comes reamed as part of the job, I consider that a bonus and will allow you to shoot the most varieties of loads without having to experiment with different OAL's.
  20. I Guys, Finally took hold of my CZ 75 TS in 9mm yesterday. I'm very happy with my purchase. Best part is I don't have to send it out for a trigger job or upgraded parts. Just have more questions about this gun as I'm very new to the CZ platform: 1. Does this gun use the same recoil spring as the 75B models? 2. What's a good recoil spring rating for shooting softer loads? (current load is ~4.0 gr of BE using 124 gr LRN bullet) 3. Would the SP-01 rubber grips fit this gun? 4. Noticed that the barrel is finished in a silver/gray color. Is this "in-the-white," stainless, or hard chrome? 5. Lastly, is the entire rear sight dovetail loctited in or just the set screw? (Had an SP-01 years ago which didn't stay w/ me long. I remember that I couldn't even move those rear sights) Thanks so much in advance!
  21. The barrel has been scrubbed and the reamer cleaned with a toothbrush. It was definitely from the reamer.
  22. Hi Guys, I was throat reaming my new 1911 9mm barrel to allow longer bullets to seat. This is not the first time I have done this. I have previously successfully reamed a couple of 45 ACP barrels. So last night I proceeded very carefully but I was gifted with a scratched bore--specifically one land was scratched. I'm quite upset. I used a brand-new Manson reamer. I used the proper cutting oil, reamed straight, and used only light pressure. How common in this occurrence? I researched online about this phenomena and it appears that reamers with a solid pilot can cause the lands to get scratched. Please talk sense into me if I'm just over-reacting. Any advise on how to prevent this in the future? Thanks in advance!
  23. Hi Guys, I inspected the gun and DROS'ed it yesterday. It's a beautiful gun and the trigger is awesome. I will just need to adjust the trigger overtravel on that one. BTW, does anyone know what the factory recoil spring rating is for the 9mm TS? Thanks again.
  24. Hi Guys, Thanks for the input. I went ahead and ordered the TS. It will arrive monday. I almost bought the 75B, but wanted something really special. I'm very excited. How could I have ignored this pistol for such a long time? They were lots cheaper several years ago too.
