  1. CDNN has some used LEO marked Glock 22/35 mags. Has anyone ordered any of them? If you have are they any good? It would be a good deal if you don't have to replace worn out springs and followers.
  2. Has anyone tried the 40 minor load from Atlanta Arms and Ammo who also reloads the 180 over 3.2 grains of Clays? If you have how do they compare? I'm thinking of reloading and using the AAA rounds for major matches backup if I was to have trouble with ammo at a match.

    Paint on the gun

I can't go with aluminum base pads and stay in SSP/Production. I think I will go with the slide and mag release and pads, that sounds good.

    Paint on the gun

Since I got my yellow jeep last summer I have had the urge to paint most of my toys in the same color scheme. I saw a lady with a yellow and black 2011 on the 2011 Nationals video. I'm thinking about getting my Glock 35 finished like this. I play in SSP/Production so I'm thinking yellow on the slide and about 1/4 or 1/3 of the lower grip. If I go this route what do you think would last longer Duracoat, hydro dipping or cretote (spelling). CCR is local to me and there is a guy who does dipping so I'd have a chance to talk to with whoever does it in person. Thoughts, comments, hate mail?
  5. Dremel engraver and my preferred combos is my initials and a 3 digit number (CRN-001). All these are glock mags and only differ in size and caliber.
  6. You will have to get a conversion barrel for it. If your buying new I think it's something $20 more. Then for complete reliability you need to change the ejector to the 9mm one. The easiest way is to just get the complete Trigger Housing. I did this for my 23 frame that I run a SI RMR Slide on to make it a 9mm frame.
  7. I didn't get to make it today. The Classifier took a bite out of my ammo allowance and I couldn't trap the Ammo Fairy last night. Glad you had a good time. I haven't got to talk to my other friend who shoots SS up there yet to see how he did.
  8. That's too shiny. Just use the black masking tape for hard cover shots. Pasties go on "other" parts of the body.
  9. It's because the 26 is a cut down G17 where as the 19 is a scaled down G17. So it "feels" like a full size in the hand.
  10. From page 28 of the rule book The goal is to compete with “service type” ammunition, not light target ammunition. Therefore, the following minimum power floors will be in effect: SSP - 125,000 ESP - 125,000 CDP - 165,000 ESR - 165,000 SSR - 125,000 Calculate power floor by multiplying the bullet weight by the muzzle velocity. You will need a chronograph to verify muzzle velocity. So wouldn't downloading the 40 or 45 to puffball levels be a FTDR?
  11. If all your doing is GSSF, I'd just leave them stock and save up for a set of steel night sights. No use in spending more money later when you want to upgrade.
  12. I get about 1 light strike out of a box of 50 with Tula. The only reason I use it is it's cheap and my G34 shoots it better than anything else I have tried.
  13. I'd guess a match is more stressful than sitting in a car or van for hours on end waiting for someone. Coffee is probably better on a stake out though.
  14. There is usually someone with extra gear in their bags. I know I lent a new friend a mag holder at the last local match. I always have an extra or 2 in case one of mine breaks or fails. Shooters are usually the most helpful people out there.

    My G34 accuracy

Try some Tula. I can get holes that touch if I do my part with it.
  16. I was at the local fruit market and they have little metal wagons with wheel barrow tires on them. I thought hrmm I could carry my range bag, tool kit, Rifle and shotgun bag/case if I shoot 3 gun and a chair. I still need to get me a SC bag. It's on my list of NEEDS.
  17. When I started reloading I got 2 different manuals. I got the Hornday and the Speer books. There are little differences in what each recommend but you can usually find a happy medium in the middle. Get one of the good manuals and READ READ READ. You will find out that reloading is almost as much a hobby as shooting is. Haunt the various gun web sites and read read read you can learn a lot. Like that Federal primers are softer and tula/wolf are pretty hard. The difference a magnum primer can make from a standard primer on velocity. What powders other people use and like. But YOUR gun will be a little different from the next guys. When I started I used a Taurus PT99 and Glock 34. 124 grain Hornady Jacketed bullet over 4.9 grains of Unique is what my 99 loved the best. The Glock not so much. I didn't save much in ammo costs for a match but the accuracy was a LOT better. I haven't used that load in a long time since I haven't reloaded much lately. Calipers is a needed item. Don't know if you have them or not but OAL makes a difference and you need to be able to measure what you got.
  18. Recommend but not set in stone. I got the taller sight on mine and it shoots low. I switched to the 0.215 and it shoots where I want it. So I stay try the .245 and see but be prepared if you have to go with a shorter front.
  19. I was sighting in a new set of warren fiber optics today. They went on my spare G34 slide. I have a RMR red dot cut into my matching slide. The rear sight was noticeably to the right to get windage correct for me. The front sight is the 245 and groups low ( probably me but it's easier to change sights ) so I will be changing it to the 215 to move it up some. Anyone else have rear sights that are noticeably to one side or the other to get your windage where you want it?
  20. It was all they had. I like that they showed Hawkeye running out of arrows. But it all boiled down to IRON MAN for me. My favorite Hero bar none!
  21. They make full size grips for magwells. They are a little longer than regular. I'm not sure if Hogues makes anything like that but VZ Grips has some great pictures to see the difference in them.
  22. You poor soul you. I'm sure you will be rewarded in the here after for this sacrifice.
  23. Nik, I appreciate you response. Allow me to take a little more time to explain my position so that I am not understand and also clarrify an important point: I had not seen the DNROI interpreation posted above before I responded to Chuck's observation on my post from the previous page. Of course I follow the rules. Before the read the DNROI's response I was responding to a bunch of people arguing their interpreation. I shared my interpretation and intention on how to handle an LEO showing with his duty gear which included a weapon mounted light. The rule gave me authority My position is that we've written an exception to the rules for LEOs to shoot using their duty gear and we've reversed on part of that exception and I think it is wrong and somewhat illogical. I think the reversal on the exception is more harmful than the full application of the exception. I am arguing for an understanding that Level I matches are different than Level II and up- evidenced that we have rules clearly exempting Level I matches from some of the rules. (I am not arguing for throwing the rulebook out the window) Further we have exemptions for LEOs using duty gear. (Clearly we must want to encourage LEOs to come shoot our sport and practice with their duty set up) So in the context of having both a practice of seeing Level I matches as a little different and having an exemption for LEO to use their duty gear, why are having such an adverse reaction to the duty equipment weapon mounted light? Just apply the LEO exemption to their duty light at the Level I match. Get 'em out shooting. I dislike the term "rule Nazi," it's been used against my reading of the rules. I find myself in the rare position of being at odds with the DNROI interpreation. But, OK, we can't all agree on everything all the time. I did, in this case, see it as blind adhearance to "rules" outside of context and intentions. Finally, to the myriad of reasons they won't come back which is where a lot of my focus is. Applying the interpretation as given forces an LEO to shoot in Open aginst real Optics (not defined optics), compensators, speed rig holsters and mag pouches and monster magazines. (I love 'em all- bring on the equiment race!) Or, it forces him to shoot his equipment different than how he goes to work with it. We know what is going to happen when the officer attempts to compete in Open with his duty equipment- he's gonna get smoked. And, too shooters blame their poor performance on everything but shooting prowess in most cases. I appreciate your confidence that I could explain the current intrepration without driving people away. I believe I can do that. I am uncertain I can do so and have it survive the ego busting finish in Open. If USPSA gives me and others acting as MDs at local matches the LEO exemption for duty lights and I think I have a better chance of keeping them coming. Give me a little more of blank check than the current interpretation. /// Of course, one Detective I know carries a Glock 18... boy, oh boy, ain't that a pandora's box or a request for a bit more of a blank check for LEOs and their duty equipment? My question would be why? That would seem to open a lot of grief and trouble on the officer, the department and the County/State. I know the AG's protection teams uses them (hows that for unfair treatment of the masses LOL) but I don't see how it got worked in for a Detective.
  24. True, but at that point, if they don't register as LEO, then what's to stop me from putting a light on the end of my muzzle and shooting in Production? Either they register as LEO, and can shoot the match in their duty gear, or they register as a civilian, and shoot in open with their duty gear... I think that should be corrected. If the LEO is going to shoot the match using the LEO exemption to division requires, I think the shooter should be identified as LEO. This allows everyone to know he was really shooting a different match. Though the LEO isn't a Division he is shooting a different match like the way the Single Stack shooter shoots a different match. He should be able to see how he did the overall, but his comparision in the Division will be skewed because of his duty rig. He's carrying more weight, using a slower holster (Todd J doing a stupid fast draw from a level 3 aside- the rest of the frickin' universe is significantly delayed by the Lvl 3 over the open top kydex holster), and the closed top holsters. If he has a flashlight it's a minor offset to the rest of his handicaps. If he beats you with those handicaps- waaaaaa. It's like getting beat by a Single Stacker when yer shooting Limited; you got beat. You're making an assumption they are using a level 3 duty rig, or flap holsters for that matter. My duty rig was a Safariland 6280 with Bianchi Accu-Mold open top mag pouches. Although I can't we do have a guy in the office who can routinely do .7 and the occasional .6 draw from that particular holster. I'll check with John, but I'd wager his answer is going to be no flashlights. I would also add that my current "duty" rig is a Safariland 6378 ALS holster with a Crimson Trace Lightguard on a Glock 19, and a Blade Tech mag pouch holding a Glock 17 mag with an Arredondo Base pad on it. I run the same holster for competition in 3 Gun but I wouldn't try to get away with a light attached. This made me think, will the gun fit and hold into a holster made for a light without the light? I know most kydex holsters won't lock in with out the light on it.
