  1. I've got a new one, in the bag yet that I recieved as a Christmas gift, but, haven't gotten around to trying to install it. How big of a pain is it to install? Thanks!!
  2. Give Mark a call at 3Gun Gear. He is making the handguard covers shown in Matt's video.
  3. Thanks for the information! Wow, are his stocks pricy! I'm thinking an Ace will be just fine.
  4. Sorry to hear you guys had trouble with the Jard triggers. I think I put mine in last year and although I can see how it could give you problems, mine has been fine--so far. I don't remember how long it took me to install it. I don't think any longer than a Jewell, but, I didn't take ALL of the creep out, because I was afaid it might give me problems.
  5. After reading these posts, I just had one of my 24" cut down to 17". Even with downloaded ammo it functioned fine, and it must have changed the harmonics, because it shoots more accurate than it ever did when it was 24". I think I'm going to mount a "dot" sight oto the handguard and am thinking of changing the stock to one of the tube style, with the foam rubber. Any suggestions as to which stock would be best? Thanks!!
  6. I have a Jard in my AR, set at 2#, and love it! It was a pain to set up, and I still have a little creep in it, but, I'm afraid that if I take it all out, I may have problems.
  7. I also changed from my Jewell trigger to a Jard, and they are a pain to set up, but, I think it is worth it. Jams, with an AR in sand country with high winds? I've heard of that before.
  8. I've been going out to the Dakotas for about 12 years now to shoot dogs. I have used .223s, 22-250s and .243s. and have used a wide range of bullets and guns. Although my 40XB, in .22-250 will shoot groups under 1/4" at 100 yards, with 55 grain bullets, I've found that my ARs that shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards actually preform better in the windy conditions that are always there, because I use heavier bullets in them. I believe the Hornady 60 grain V-Max, and the 68 grain match seem to work as an all around best out there. With good hits, they seem to blow up dogs as well as the 40-55 grain bullets. For my 1-9 twist barrel, the 60 grains are the most accurate. Although the 68 grain bullets only group 3/4" at 100 yards, the still group 3/4" at 200 yards. I think it has something with that they don"t stabilize out of the 1-9 until past 100 yards. With 68 grain or heavier, my choice is a 1-8 twist. And, or course there is the fun factor with an AR that has a good 2 lb. trigger, over a bolt gun when you get in to a town of dumb dogs you can shoot a lot faster!
  9. Where did you find the best place to get a beta mag? Do they have a good return policy, if it doesn't work?
  10. Do any of you guys know of a good souce for good 40 round AR mags? Preferably, somewhere with a good return policy, if they don't work. Thanks!
  11. OUCH! That's expensive! Thanks John!
  12. Please excuse my ignorance, but, what is an AI AW, how much are they, and where can they be had?
  13. Where is a good place to get the AICS from?
  14. I thought you couldn't have a light rail in IDPA
  15. Is it legal to change to a Roupe, or Bedell grip for CDP and ESP? THANKS!
  16. I took it to a Remington gunsmith. It appears that the ejecter is rounded off. I don't think I have 1,000 rounds through it. It looks like the only way I'm going to be able to get it to run in time for the DPMS 3 gun match, is to build it back up with a welder, and re-shape it with a Dremel tool.
  17. I've been having trouble with my 1187 ejecting. I opened the ports, and installed a new seal, and totally cleaned and lubed it. Would the ez loader be the culprit??
  18. Thanks for the information!!
  19. Although I don't see anything specificaly listed for the ten round mag tubes, I see that the ones in Brownell's are listed at 40" Do you put them in as is, or do you trim them for a ten round tube?
  20. One of my old .223's used to really like 25.5 grains of Varget behind a Hornady 68 grain match h.p., but, using mixed cases, I had some problems with the compressed load. Some of the cases were so full of powder that the bullets wouldn't stay where I wanted them to, no matter how much I tried to crimp them.
  21. The only electronic scale I've used is the Dillon that I bought when they first came out a long time ago. According to both my sets of weights, it has always been off by a tenth of a grain, but, as long as I know it, it is no big deal. It will run off of a.c., or a 9v battery. It has been so long since I've run it off of a.c. that I don't even know where the adapter is. I will never go back to the old balance beam type scale!
