  1. Ditto! When I was at the USPSA nationals in 2004, shooting "open" for the first time, and having trouble finding the dot on my C-More, one of the GMs suggested the OKO because it has a larger window, and a brighter dot than the C-more. I now have 4 OKO sights and sold all of my C-mores.
  2. maybe from me soon Please let me know. Ditto!

    Comp Cleaning

Even with Zero JHPs, which has no exposed lead, I had a buildup around my crown, but, it was not lead, it was carbon which affected my groups the same way.
  4. I went to the range with a chrono and also had my wife video tape while I was shooting. 4 grains of Clays behind a Zero 125 jhp was running at 987fps. 4.4 grains of Clays behind a Zero 125 jhp was running at 1105fps With the 4 grain load, the camera showed no muzzle movement off the sandbags at all. The gun used was a Bedell "shorty", with a titanium comp.
  5. HaHa--We got another one to come to the dark side!! Seriously though--glad you had a good time, and looking forward to seeing you around.
  6. Are the results with times and match points per stage available somewhere? Ditto! I had a great time and hope to be there again next year!
  7. I had previously reduced my load with 4756 to 8 grains, but, accuracy seemed to fall off, and the cases looked like there wasn't enough pressure to expand them to seal the chamber. The fired cases came out with smoke on the sides of them.
  8. I currently am running a 26" barrel on my 1187 that Mag na port did thier porting job on when the 1187s first came out. Shawn Carlock did some gas work, and did something with the intercepter. Last year, a freind of mine taped me shooting a stage at the DPMS tri-gun challange and I saw that my muzzle was climbing up, and to the right. He has a JP "open" shotgun with the brake in the middle, and is ported on the right side only. Last week, we finally got together and I fired both guns with the same load while he was taping me and when I shot his gun, there was some upward movement, but, no side movement. I have a 28" barrel that I bought with the idea of shooting tactical, but, since, I have picked up a Competitionmaster for tactical so I wanted to have JP modify my barrel to match my friend's, but, like I said, they no longer offer the comp in the center. I guess I could just get the right side ported to see how that works, but, if possible, I would really like to get a center comp too. Thanks!!!
  9. Does anybody else make/install a comp in the center of the barrell, like JP used to? I wanted one of my barrels done, and contacted JP yesterday, but, they said they no longer do it because they idin't have enough call for it.
  10. Last week, a fellow shooter suggested 4.4 grains of Clays behind the 125 JHP. I loaded a few and shot them for function and accuracy. They seem fine, but, I haven't had a chance to chrono them to see how slow they are going.
  11. The VXIIIs we were using, had adjustable paralax on them.
  12. I'm looking for an accurate, light load I can run in my "shorty" open gun. It has a light recoilmaster in it, so I would think almost anything would function. I'm currently running Zero 125 grain hollowpoints with 8 grains of VVN-350 for my "major" IPSC load. I would like to continue running the Zero bullets, just because that's what I have on hand. I have WW231, IMR4756, and Clays, by my loading bench available. Maybe some of the action pistol crowd can help me out? Thanks, in advance for any help!
  13. I did have it re-crowned. Before that, it wouldn't put any load under an inch at 100 yards. I didn't realize that the brake was pinned in place at the time and messed up the threads on the barrel a little bit too.
  14. That is the conclusion I came up with too, but, although I've never shot my freind's Gator at 200 yards, it will shoot groups half the size of mine with most of the ammo I've run through it. We awere both running Leupold 6.5-20 scopes for the testing.
  15. I bought one of their uppers when they first came out. A freind of mine liked the way mine looked so much that he bought one too. Since then two of my other fellow shooters have bought them, but, I haven't heard how they like them. I think I might have recieved a prototype. Mine is the only one I've seen with a black bolt. All others I've seen have had a chrome bolt. They are "supposed" to have a 1/2" group guarentee, but, mine won't do under 3/4" at 100 yards with any of like 30 loads tested. But, with Hornady v-max, or Hornady 68 grain match hollowpoints, it will also hold 3/4" at 200 yards. My freinds Gator will hold under 1/2" at 100 yards with several loads I tested through it. When I was trying to find the most accurate load for it, I called Clark, and was told that 55 grain ballistic tips were the most accurate, but, that has not been what we found. When I told the lady that the best it would do at 100 yards was 3/4' and that my freind's shot under 1/2", she said that was too bad. I guess I expected that she would have me send it in, but, she didn't seem to think it was a problem. I also had the glue on the carbon fibre hand guard come loose, and was sliding around. When I called about that, she said I should get some epoxy and re-glue it, which I did. Other than those problems, it has been running 100%, even with a broken gas ring, which seem to have broke at the 2004 DPMS tri-gun challenge. DPMS replaced the set of rings, on the spot at no charge. I think it is supposed to be some kind of secret, but, DPMS makes the Gators for Clark.
  16. I've been hearing that, but, have never experianced it myself. I am presently experimenting with switching my .45 load to Clays, and have some Universal Clays I thought I'd try for the .40.
  17. Do you mean SMALL rifle primers? All of the .40 loads I've made up were with winchester small pistol primers, and depending on how deep you seat the bullets will also change velocity. I was running 5 grains of 231 behind a Zero 180 grain hollowpoint.
  18. I have tried loading standard length, and long for my .40s. Of course, for the Glock, they have to be loaded short enough to fit in the magazines, but, for my two STIs, and my Springfield, I have found some loads that are more accurate loaded short, and some that are more accurate loaded long. You will have to play around with your gun to see what it likes the best. Good luck on your quest!
  19. Although I didn't own my Para .40 long enough to take the time to chrono loads through it, I've found the opposite when comparing my Glock 35 to my STIs. The STIs chrono about 50 fps HIGHER than my Glock.
  20. I bought 2000 rounds of Wolf 62 grain last year for shooting the close targets at 3 gun matchs. I can't take the time to load for $100 a case, but, I won't use it on long, or tight shots. I never chronoed it, but, as far as accuracy, I can't get it to shoot any better than 2" at 100 yards, but, for the close "hose" targets, it works just fine.
  21. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
  22. I have a .308 coming from DPMS and was thinking of using it for heavy metal class. I already have a set of BUIS, but, the .308 is not coming with anything to mount the front sight to. I see that Brownell's lists a base that clamps to the barrell, but, it doesn't appear to have any crosscuts in it. Any suggestions as to what I can get to mount the sight, on the barrell, just behind the comp? I would like it to be height adjustable too. THANKS!
  23. I've been running it lately because I can hardly load for what it costs to buy the stuff, but, I won't use it for any long, or tight shots. Like was said before, there always seem to be flyers. I usually clean my guns between matches anyway so it being a little dirtier hasn't been a problem, but, if you run thousands of rounds without cleaning, it may become one.
  24. Does anybody know of a good adjustable, rear sight that will replace a Heinie without having to do any machining?? Thanks!!!
