While waiting to shoot my last stage on Saturday......I saw two very bad things happen to the squad in front of us. One poor guy got DQ'd when he reached back to draw his shotgun speedloader tube and knocked his loaded, open gun to the ground. Oh, did we feel for him, but he took it like a great sport and marched on. After this everyone's nerves were a little on edge....then, when the next shooter finished the stage and was given the "if finished, unload and show clear" command....he reached over the top of the slide on his SV .40 and pulled it back - at which time the round in the chamber went off and sent a HUGE chunck of brass in to the guys left hand. They eventually took him to the hospital for treatment. NOTE: I apologize for not knowing this shooters name, but he came back Sunday and finished the stages that he missed.....including the Long Range rifle and the 32 round pistol stage......all shot with only one hand. Now that's hard core !!!! By the way.....I did see him going to the prize table before I did !!! HA

Well.....all I can say is that long-range rifle stage is a MO-FO !!!!!!! I've got one question.......When we looked at the stage on Thursday, the steel flash targets were at 276 yds......and that is the distance that RO's and a few others shot them at. When we got to the range this morning, the steel was moved out to 326 yds....(read 50 yds farther !!) because rounds were skipping out of the range. Is it just me or is that an unfair advantage for the folks that got to shoot it early ??? Fifty yards is 50 yds..... That's all I got to say about that.

I'm packing up my stuff, getting the hell out of Dodge first thing in the morning....... If you're on I-40....keep an eye out for a silver blurrrr...... That will be me !!!!

I just saw on The Weather Channel where the wind in Tulsa is blowing at 17mph, gusting to 23mph. That might make those long range flash targets interesting.........

in The Way of the Gun, the shootout seens are great, their actual tactics are real.....but my favorite part of the movie is opening scene..... CAUTION Lots of foul language.........I mean lots !!!!!!

Can someone give me some insight on the terrain conditions in the shooting bays ???? Is it grass, loose dirt, gravel,...etc. I'm trying to decide what shoes to bring... Thanks

These stages look fast & furious.....Can't wait to get there & out of town for a while !!! I have just one question...not a gripe - I got a mass e-mail from Phil on 9-13-07 asking if the shooting preferences for the group would be to shoot 2 FULL days with some down time between stages or 2 HALF days with stages back to back......I then got another e-mail stating that they had decided to go with the FULL day format, but the squad matrix on the USSA web site still reflects HALF day format....... Just wondering if anyone knows for sure ?????

"was it chrome ?"......no, just glossy black like something you would see from the 70's. It was a thrown together mess.....he had the leg wire-welded to a fitting of some kind that threaded on to the magazine of the 1100. Nothing pretty to look at, as you can imagine.......

I was at a local multigun match yesterday (benefit match for Disabled Veterans) when I came across a very interesting gentleman. He was using an old 1100 that looked to be 30 years old and it had an odd looking mag tube on it. When I asked him about the tube, he said.... "Oh, I made that last week from a kitchen chair leg". I laughed my ass off ....until it worked......... Watch out TRUBL - Nordic may have some competition !!!!!!!!!

Anyone stay at the Best Western Owasso Inn & Suites (7653 N Owasso Expressway ) ???? I've got reservations there for the MG match, but haven't heard mention of it. It seems to be booked up for the match and is really close to the range..... 4.4 miles to be exact.

+1 on that request Another + 1 !!!! Two and 1/2 weeks away and still no stages or squad lists ????? When they do come out, it will be like college.....cramming for a test the night before (or drinking a lot of beer) !!!!!!! Just kidding....I know the USSA folks have been working there butts off (mostly in the rain & mudd).... Lets hope for some dry weather the next couple weeks and things should be great....My first National match and I'm chompin' at the bit !!!

+1 for ear plugs and your own pillow. I got hooked sleeping in ear plugs when I worked 3rd shift and had to try to sleep during the day..... Now it seems I usually can't sleep without them.

Flex.... I can't get the QuickTime videos to play......anyone else having this trouble ???? I just downloaded the latest version, and it still won't open....I just get that "Q" with a "?" on top of it.... Any ideas ???

I feel your pain.....literally !!!! I dropped several shotgun dummy rounds on my toes last night in the garage - you think we would learn after the first time.

+1 for the DOH !!! It is every bit as fast, ten times as secure, and you don't ever have to worry about your holster being "unlocked" when the start signal goes off.

Paul..... If you don't have your witnesses name, go get a copy of the police report and obtain it there. The report should have witness name/address and contact info. Then contact you local prosecutor and fill out an affidavit for a warrant, including the witness's name to be subpoenaed. Don't let that crazy bitch get away with that.......

What an Ass-Hat.......Did you ever stop and think maybe that officer is going to help your wife or your family or one of your friends ???? Just because their bluelights/siren are not on doesn't mean they are not responding to a very important call. Most department policies are very strict on when an officer can actually run with his emergency lights on.... You want to sit here and gripe about how those officers drive out there, and then you complain about how long it takes them to get there when YOU need one. If you had someone suspicious looking in your windows, would you want that officer to sit in line at the redlight and wait on traffic ????? If the truth be told, you probably had a recent speeding ticket and want to take it out on someone else......just my guess. Find something else to rant about..... (If it sounds like I am taking this personally, I am......because I hear this gripe all the time and I haven't had enough coffee yet !!!!)

I would love to be able to carry your pistol on duty (I have an EDGE for comp.), but I'd hate to try to shoot a blacked-out front sight in the dark. Do you get a good "silouette" effect on the sights with the light attached ??? I've been wanting to try those tritium/fiber optic from TruGlo. Best of both worlds.....in theory.
