Switching safety on Browning Shotgun
sdhunterman replied to bigkyle72's topic in Shotgun - Technical
A new A5? The safety is pretty easy to switch. On the right side of the trigger assembly, pull the spring from above the safety. Then pull the safety and detent out. Flip over the housing and then reinstall. -
What is the difference between a Glock and 1911 with functioning grip safety? I never understood the need for a safety to be engaged on a firearm with passive safeties, if other firearms are allowed to utilize the same passive safeties. While I won't disagree with the ruling(per match rule set), I don't think a firearm in this condition constitutes a match DQ. The gun, in that condition, can not fire.

Which semi auto shotgun are you running for 3-gun

Benelli M1, Benelli SuperNova, and MKA1919. -
New AR trigger recommendations
sdhunterman replied to XtReMe90's topic in Multi-gun Gear & Accessories
I have limited experience, but I really like my SD3G trigger. It doesn't break like the proverbial glass rod, but it fills the bill and then some, at least in my opinion. -
Best tube extension for 870 express magnum?
sdhunterman replied to SAESuperman's topic in Shotgun - Technical
Nordic components offers a very high quality unit at a very reasonable price. It is, at least in my opinion, way better than a choate or tacpro. It's the only thing I will run on my shotguns. -
Now I know why it takes so long at the Chiropractors office...

The timing is a personal preference thing, as Larry already suggested. It is not necessary.

offset red dot or iron sights vs 1x scope speed at close range.
sdhunterman replied to JeremyV's topic in Rifle - Technical
I thought about using a 2.5-10 on my open gun. Primarily because I can use an offset red dot. I haven't been to range where I would have benefited from the extra power on the top end though. The farthest range I have shot in competition is 300 yards. -
brass hitting delta point lens or the right side of lens housing!
sdhunterman replied to fxdc's topic in S&W (M&P, etc)
FXDC did this new extractor help? I haven't played with mine much. Just curious if this cured the problem. -
I think you would have a hard time beating the PST in the price range you have listed. It is what I shoot on my rifle and for the money, it has the most value, in my opinion. The glass is excellent.

brass hitting delta point lens or the right side of lens housing!
sdhunterman replied to fxdc's topic in S&W (M&P, etc)
In for possible solutions. I am having the same issue with my Vortex Razor. The brass has dinged up the housing pretty good. -
How About Showing Your SHOTGUN(S) SETUP?
sdhunterman replied to Nalapombu's topic in Shotgun - Technical
As to the A5 busting apart, it seems like it could be a logical occurrence. The barrel moving back and forth pounding on an aluminum nut doesn't seem like it would take long to break down the threads. I like that A5 that Patrick posted! -
The disconnector should hook on the back of the hammer, presuming the trigger is still pulled. The hammer needs to be pushed all the way back passed the sear engagement.

I steer clear of it for the reason that it sucks to shoot. If it were me, I wouldn't shoot it in my mka1919.

I think stippling enhances the grip on a shotgun. With that being said, I only stippled the stock. For me to load 2 with my weak hand, it helped me keep a solid purchase on the stock while I flipped it over.

Latest thinking on Akdal MKA 1919 Chokes & Brakes?
sdhunterman replied to michael1778's topic in Shotgun - Technical
I am running Carlson choke tubes. They are pretty much all I run in my shotguns anymore. A few of my shotguns pull double duty, hunting and competition, so they need to pattern well with both steel and lead shot.- 2 replies

I really want one of these to run but haven't gotten around to buying one. I suppose I should pick one up before the matches pick up this summer. I too am interested in hearing any reviews from people that have used them.

It is from Speed Shooters Specialties. I believe it is the limited mag well. I really like it. It fits on the frame pretty tight and hasn't loosened any. It is compatible with the TTI base pads.

The CF2 1-4x24 is a 30mm scope. I just got a pair of them in and they seem nice. It would be a good budget build optic. I'm hoping to slip one on a 22 for the heck of it. It is also available in the v-brite dot.

Here is a picture of the Tooth and Nail 3g package. I am contemplating a break of some sort but might try to build one up myself.

I picked up the Tooth and Nail 3 gun package. It does require a break in period but after that, things have smoothed out and reliability has been great. I can now run 1145 fps 1 1/8 oz. without issues. It comes with two coupled 10 round mags and two factory 5 round mags. This is plenty to get you through most 3 gun stages. I don't have much experience with the other platforms so not much for comparison.

I went with a 4.25 for my 3 gun open pistol. I haven't shot it much but minor loads are pretty light recoiling to begin with. No porting or comp on this gun, yet.
