  1. At those ranges (50/100) I'd say generally... roughly... yes.
  2. That's $420 + s/h per 1000 for steel cased ammo. Wow.
  3. 0:34. He broke the 180. IMO, vigorous movement and slung long gun = 99% of the time you will at some point break the vertical 180. Nature of the beast.
  4. He just swept everyone behind him doing it that way At what point of the video do you feel that he swept everyone behind him?
  5. Other than maybe another die bushing... that's all you need. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1165277407/hornady-lock-n-load-die-bushings?cm_vc=ProductFinding
  6. What I mean by thermal drift is the difference between the POI and spread between a cold barrel and a barrel that's scalding hot. Basically what happens when you shoot a typical stage when you shoot long range targets at the start... run around and engage close range paper... then engage the long range targets again. In it's current state my 18" JP upper apparently moves 1.5 MOA to the left and .25 MOA up and the group size opens up. This is from a cold clean barrel to a hot barrel. My other upper with a relatively new Nordic barrel and JP handguard... the POI doesn't shift at all. But the group size increases. The difference is noticeable. Just wondering what a plastic nut will do. I guess I can just put it together and see what it does.
  7. I have a handguard that I had pulled from a Alexander Arms factory upper. It appears to have a plastic hand guard nut. Also rebarrelled a really old upper that has a Clark CF handguard with an aluminum nut. For a 3 Gun upper, have you guys found any problems (like thermal drift) using non-steel barrel/handguard nuts? Does the JP handguards use a steel or aluminum nut? Thanks.
  8. Steel cases can rust. I had some lacquered 223 during a training class that had a lot of rain. Couple of days later my unused ammo was rusted up. Not sure how the new plasticy coating Tulas would do. Also current steel cased Tula/Wolf has a magnetic bullet. All the local public ranges around me don't allow them. If you use them at a 3 gun match they may DQ you for using them. 2 out of the 3 local 3 gun matches around me don't allow magnetic bullets. SMM3G DQ's shooters with magnetic bullets. I don't think the coated steel cases are going to be hurtful to your chamber. But I personally would argue that the steel cases are harder on your extractor than brass. My personal experience with them is that my extractors would break sooner if I used steel cased ammo exclusively rather than brass cases exclusively. But extractors are relatively cheap. I have an upper set aside for use with Tula/Wolf. Won't use them in my JP or any other upper that I would use for a "big" match.
  9. I usually run a 1-6 with my AR's and 2-8 with my hunting rifles. Looking for a dedicated scope to use for load development for these rifles. Once I'm done with the development for an upper/barrel I'm not going to be using it at all. So I don't want to spend more than $200. Looking for enough magnification to reduce the spread due to magnification. Relatively fine reticle for group shooting. Hold's zero. Parallax adjustment would be nice. What scopes would you guys recommend? Thanks.
  10. I like bases with more than two screws. I have one of these Aeroprecisions http://aeroprecisionusa.com/ultralight-30mm-spr-scope-mount.html and I have a JP mount on another upper. I have the shorter JP mount: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1069647092/jp-enterprises-1-piece-scope-mount-picatinny-style-with-integral-30mm-rings-with-1-inserts-flat-top-ar-15-matte?cm_vc=ProductFinding
  11. I've had good luck with the Nordic 16". $199. https://nordiccomp.com/categories/barrels/
  12. On a new barrel I take a baseline groups after I have put 200 rounds through it. Do one cold group. Fire 30 rounds in about a minute. Then do a "hot" group. Keep the targets filed away. Down the life of the barrel, I'd do the same procedure and see what it does. Compare it with the initial targets. If I don't like what it does... time for a new barrel.
  13. What kind of problems do you have with the Vortex?
  14. Just pull out the offending case and continue on as normal.
  15. Say you got a new rifle/barrel and you need to do load development. Do you use the results for the first 100 rounds in your determination if it is a good bullet, powder, charge, load, etc? Or do you wait until X rounds? Or wait for...? Thanks.
