  1. My post was directed at the OP. I think Stealthy's post was also to the OP. You do whatever you want.
  2. You have to lube the cases. Otherwise it will get stuck in the die. Lubing dirty cases then sizing them... I think most people don't want to do that. Accept the suck. Clean the cases. Lube them. Resize and trim. Clean them again. Then load them.
  3. There's nothing in Big Boy rules that says the RO can't stop the shooter if their PPE's are dislodged. Sure the "organizer, range, and rule making body are always going to be held responsible." But if I was in that jury and I was told that the either 1) the shooter was ultimately responsible in stopping themselves (big boy rules) or 2) the RO is required to stop the shooter. I would be more inclined to not blame the RO/org if 1 was in place. If 2 was in place the RO/ORG was clearly responsible. The RO was REQUIRED to stop the shooter.
  4. I think you would be shifting the liability to the RO/Match. Big boy rules says the shooter is responsible. If you require a reshoot in the rules, the burden goes to the RO/Match to stop the shooter. Both of the recent examples had the RO not stopping the shooter for whatever reason. The RO just did not notice and/or the shooter was moving so fast that their ability to notice was lessened. If the shooter had sustained an injury... big boy rules says the shooter was at fault. If it is written in the rules that the RO has to stop and give the shooter a reshoot... the fault is with the RO (and the MD for "hiring" him) for not noticing the displacement of the PPE's and not stopping the shooter.
  5. 30+ years of outlaw matches with roughly the same procedural rules. 30+ years and it isn't mature enough? Within those 30+ years everybody who shot 3 gun was new to 3 gun. Everyone had a first 3 gun match. It's not like everybody started 30+ years ago and there haven't been any new shooters joining. New shooters have been coming onto the scene since 3 gun's inception.
  6. I don't think the argument is about safety. 99% of us are in the same page in that the shooter needs to put their eyes/ears back on. The argument is if they get a reshoot or not.
  7. SK is mid-tier premium 22 LR. I think you are comparing it to cheap plinking ammo.
  8. How about you stop him and make the shooter put his PPE's back on and have him continue to shoot? All on the clock. Don't make the rest of the squad reset the stage twice and potentially back up the entire stage. Giving them a reshoot isn't in the rules in the vast majority of three gun matches. As mentioned before it's been like this for 30+ years.
  9. Do you shoot 3 gun regularly? A typical USPSA stage can be shot as little as 10-20 seconds? Stage reset times and scoring maybe 30-80 seconds? Typical 3 gun stage is 60-120 seconds? Reset times and scoring maybe 2-5 minutes? If you take it to the more extreme stages and matches...3-6 minutes to shoot the stage? Reset times and scoring maybe 5-10 minutes? In addition to the above, in 3 gun you have maybe have 1-6 minutes needed to stage your shotgun... your rifle... your pistol... etc. Time for LAMR for a USPSA pistol stage is maybe 1 minute? If you do shoot 3 gun regularly and pistol only matches... time the above. Typical 3 gun match here, if we start at 8:30 we leave somewhere between 3:30-6:00. Typical Pistol only match, if we start at 8:30 we usually leave at 12:00-1:00.
  10. I don't think it would be cheaper. A2 match at an A1 state... that would be interesting.
  11. Just a data point for me... To the OP did you break in your barrel?
  12. Did you take any classes with it? Like doing 600-800 rounds in a couple of hours? Did you practice with it? Like 200 rounds in an a 1/2 - 1 hour?
  13. Maybe you need a new barrel? I can sell you a box each for $21 total (60 rounds total): XM193I Independence (Israeli) PMC Bronze Federal XM193 Then you can go out and shoot a box at 100-300 yards on paper and see if your barrel likes ball 55's and maybe a certain brand. I'm not sure about the Independence... but the Bronze and the Federal you can get right now in cases. At least for these brands you won't be ordering blind. LMK. I'll bring it out to Piru in case you want them.
  14. I found this annoying... I have two lots of 7625 (2 1 lb bottles and 8 1 lb bottles). 13328 and 13329. The two lots have different densities. With Lee Disc: 0.61 = 5.8 grains with lot 13328 0.61 = 5.5 grains with lot 13329 So if you have two different lots don't ASSume and do like I did and top off the powder measure with a different lot expecting the same results. Live and learn.
  15. Tim picked me up a $200 certificate off of the Nationals table... hence the question. I got the 115, 124 and 147 RN and shot a couple of groups at 50 yards. My G34 w/the KKM liked the 147's (10/7 shot = 8.4"/5.7") a little better than the 124's (10.1"/4.9") --- loaded with Universal Clays. My SVI with a 6" Schuemann liked the 115's (9.8"/5.9") over the 124's (14.9"/6.3") and 147's (15+"/7") --- loaded with Longshot. Another day, using Green Dot and X-Tremes, my SVI did: 10.1"/5.5" with 115 RN 10.8"/4.8" with 115 Heavy Plate Concave Base (HPCB) 6.7"/4.0" with 115 Hollow Point My SVI really liked Berries 115 FP (5.9"/3.9"). Of course Berries currently don't make them anymore. I want to get some 124 flat points from X-Treme to see if it is because it likes the flat point/HP shape more than RN. Maybe that FP/HP shape is just more accurate than RN?
  16. I have two 35's. One fairly stock slide (Bomar added) and another one that's been lightened. With major loads I prefer the heavier slide. See if you can try someone's lightened gun with major loads to see if that's what you really want.
  17. You can say that at any yardage. If all you have is a shotgun and slugs and the guy is shooting at you at 300 yards you will take the shot at 300 yards. And yet is 300 yards a good distance to have slug targets at a 3 Gun match? I'd say no. For the vast majority of people who participate in 3 Gun those who will actually use slugs in a "practical" setting will be shooting it to take a deer or a maybe a pig. Play the odds and have a practical distance where the great majority of the shooters would actually use a shotgun and slugs. As far as it being a martial based game... sure. But are you telling me that flipped up clays, clays from a thrower and the clay target itself didn't come from a hunting based activity? You can't discount that some of the shooting in 3 Gun is based on the practicalities of hunting.
  18. I'd ask experienced hunters what max range they would take on a deer using a bead sighted shotgun (what 75-95% of the shotguns have) using slugs. "Practical" shooting.
  19. I would get it for hunting. Not for games. I just got a 7.62x39 for hunting. I thought 10 round 7.62x39 mags would be reliable. Nope. They suck too.
  20. I don't know for sure. I have a P16, P14 and P14 Limited (all pre power extractor). I'm sure someone with a P18 and a P16 will chime in. I'd guess that the magwell and frames are the same for the single action wide bodies within the same size (Govt, Commander, etc.) format.
  21. I bought a P18 upper and put it on a P16 lower. IIRC the ejector had to shaved down a little in order for the P18 slide to work. It had the stock power extractor. Had multiple extraction failures with it. Changed the extractor to something else (don't remember what) and now it works much better.
