  1. the subject of running a stage with your pistol on and hot so as to be able to transition to it in the event that you wanted to or had to was brought up. how much easier is it to shoot stage 8 at this years match not having to reload, i know i can shoot a handgun much faster and reload much faster than i can with a shotgun. and the difficulty of the clays, would not compensate for the ability to reload and shoot faster. IMHO, if you are going to allow the shooter to transition to their handgun, due to malfunctions or ammo limitations, then something should be done to keep the GAMERS from taking advantage of the situation. trapr
  2. whats the latest on the match, i'm being told that ih- 10 is closed but don't know from where to where. i'm coming from texas and can't phone anyone due to the hurricane. trapr
  3. hey bronco, could you get a pic of the run'd over scope. pacman, did you get a pic of your kill????? did anyone get video of MR. miller missing his slug plate, or for that matter any of the team event. as for my new friends mike .45 and gnomie, guys i look forward to seeing you again soon. i really enjoyed my first RM3G, i'll be back, but probably with a scope. trapr
  4. when i got home after 10 hours of driving and thinking, (yes i can have intelligent thoughts) 2 things were on my mind. 1) how pissed was the dog gonna be for me not taking him to RM3G and 2) what would i be shooting next year, given the statements made at the awards. someone made the statment that they should let auto shotguns into he-man, my thoughts were have two he-man divisions. he-man traditional and he-man modern. i spoke briefly with eric miller and others about it and they seemed to like the idea. in traditional you shoot pump shotgun and irons, in modern you shoot optics and autos. as for power factors i agree with kellyn, bullet weight is not the way to go. it seems that he-man is where alot of tact iron shooters are moving to, and that class gets bigger while tact iron gets smaller. as for pistols on at all times, i agree with it so long as if the stage is not a pistol stage, then the pistol should be chamber empty. dropping tact-iron should not be a consideration, go with a set number of competitors needed to recognize the class, and if its not met then allow for a high shooter and thats it. i think limiting rounds in tactical class should be considered, it seems to have been received well in he-man, and i think 30 rounds would be a good start. (this in spite of the fact that i do shoot a beta, occassionaly) my brain can't remember any of the other items, so i'll shut up, except to say that whatever happens i'll be back next year. trapr
  5. ZAK, do have a picture of the runned over scope? that was interesting. however the driver did the right thing and paid for damages right away, ain't shooters great. later i tried to get him to believe that the old shotgun extension and broken glass in my bag was a leupold MK 4, but he didn't fall for it.
  6. since i helped the shooter get the bolt carrier out i guess i could answer this question. the tube broke inside the gas block, then wedged itself into the gas key on top of the bolt carrier. the shooter was loaned another rifle by a helpful shooter from OK, and was able to finish the match. the breakage occurred on the first stage of his match.
  7. i shoot the brenneke low recoil slugs and really like them, they are suprisingly accurate out of my benelli. (thanks kurt, for the intro) by the way they are also really good for south texas hogs, too. i get POA at 25 yds, and POA at 50 yds, and aprox, 4" low at 75yds. i f memory serves me right the accuracy is just about 5" at 75 yds. midway had them on sale at one point for less than 2.00 a box, i don't know if they stil carry them.
  8. bruce, i've done the same thing with LC ball, and replaced with sierra 125 sp, the results were, more than satisfactory. decent accuracy aprox 1" at 100. as a side note i also do the same thing with .223 replacing 62gr fmj with sierra 60 gr hp. and get very acceptable, accuracy. trapr

  14. other than the seven stages used for the big match, there are no others to the best of my knowledge, there was a short stint of other stages back several years ago but those are no longer used. there are different stages used for the shotgun and the 22 rifle, if you ask the ISI for last years course book they will be inside. hope this helps trapr
  15. WAkal, where o where can i get me one of them, there entry forms, puleez. me and the dawg is lookin forward to coming up. trapr
  16. Michael, My statement about your announcement, was based only on the informtion, given in your original and shortly following statement. Based on that I could not understand how 25 G, to the winner was going to benefit all the other shooters of the SC. If in fact Mike & Mike, utilize this to deepen the awards for the rest of us, which in my opinion, is the foundation on which shooting sports are based, and where the future of shooting sports lies. Then I agree, and can completely understand your excitment, to the announcement. Personally, I would like to see the SC, have a separate prize table, for limited/production guns and equipment. I think it would increase the number, of entries and participation. However I also think that the SC is pretty well max'd out on the number of shooters it can currently accept. Good Luck on this Years Shows, Thanks for your work, and see you around Trapr.
  17. from MB excitement it sounded like the announcement would be something that would benefit the average to above average shooter this only benefits the SC winner, and the match already provides them with incentives. or did i miss interpet, his enthusiaism. i still intend on returning to the SC, i have to, i can't let last years time stand. trapr
  18. benny you need to provide us with a basic course description so we can practice to beat you. either that or you don't get to practice, the courses yourself. ha!!!! LOL,LOL,LOL. seriously, do you have the dates yet, i really want to be there and i need to get vacation. hugs and kisses trapr
  19. benny, you guys must have been reading my mind. i've been wondering why nobody in our part of the country does a match similar to cramblit's. lord knows shotgunning is lots o fun, count me in, and if you need help on stages or stuff, let me know. i guess we can talk more at SMM3G. will you have separate classes for auto/pump? trapr
  20. thanks, let me know what you find out. trapr
  21. does anyone know of a source for a 21" m1s90 barrel? i'd like to find one before SMM3G, i don't care if its camo, blue, or not, so long as its in good condition, and will accept chokes. i've checked gunbroker, ebay, CDNN, Rguns, uspsa classifieds
  22. i've had good luck with soaking the rounds in WD40, for a couple of days and then just throwing them in the garbage, the wd40 penetrates the cases and turns the powder solid, and makes the primer inert, i feel quite comfortable throwing them in the garbage, after that.
  23. my marvel was a little finicky on ammo, till i noticed some was more dirtier than others, rem bulk box worked the best for me. however bob marvel also opened up the match chamber for me, it still shoots twice as accurate as it needs to, i've shot the long range bank of targets, used for team challenge with it, (no, that doesn't include the little 1.5" targets)
  24. hopalong, i don't think you're asking the right person.....HAHA i 'd like to shoot the match but there sure are alot of matches in august, 2 big 3 gun matches for sure. see round trapr
