bronco's assessment is correct, i believe it was eric miller that said" the AR is like the chevy smallblock motor" there seems to be no end to the parts available. as long as you use the parts mentioned you should have no problem and if you don't like it you can easily resell the part and try something different. for the record i use a RR lower with a DPMS upper, and like it just fine, i also have alot of other folks parts on it, JP, Evolution, Yankee hill, etc. putting one together yourself, or having a gunsmith do some, and you finish the job can be quite fun. trapr

keith, you should probably add kelly and benny to the list of supporting cast. between all of us the first one to speak up doesn't stand a chance. see you in march. trapr

generally, one inch for every yard of distance is a good pattern for shooting stationary clays. a little tighter is better for steel, these numbers seem to work for me and they're easy to remember. trapr

you might try benny hill, he has lots of loose parts laying around, or rguns they seem to have parts i need, when i need them. trapr

i too would like to add, that this was one of the best matches and nicest ranges i've been to. being able to shoot on green grass, is a rarity for this texas boy. the hospitality, food and atmosphere were top notch, and the weather really cooperated. those of you that didn't make it, need to add this match to your list for next year. see ya'll soon trapr

rikarin, look into staying another night, my freinds have tried to leave sunday night and it always is a pain, due to awards delays and prize distribution. one of them actually was not able to walk the prize table due to flight times, or have someone walk it for you. the match is definetly worth shooting. trapr

sorry it took so long, my old load was 5.0 grs of hp38, with either the 115 or 125 gr bullet. accuracy was good, and i did quite well with it at the american handgunner shoot offs. hope this helps. trapr

let me get back home, from work and i'll get a few for you. i shot hp38, for steel loads, and had good luck with it. as a start if you go to 38 auto(not 38 super) loads you can find some info i found them in an older hornady book i had. trapr

i have shot the jp globe for the last year and a half, i like it but if my memory is correct, i think i shot better with the old thinned post. i am going to switch back to it and play around for the next month or so just to find out. i do really like the jp globe due to being able to use different apertures, but i feel like it obscures more of the target than tyhe post did. flyin hawaiian i believe you kicked my butt the other weekend. see ya trapr

mine failed due to user error, RTFM!!!!!!!!read the fu--ing manual. kelly is right, when i got to the practice range and graphited(for you kelly) the heck out of it it worked flawlessly. i used it on another stage later but can't recall which one.

based on what is in the news, and the fact that no communications or updates on the match, i'm sure they have other things going on right now that are much more important than a match. i've decided to not take the chance on being a burden on the people or economy of southern louisiana, i to hope the match will be rescheduled. i was looking forward to seeing old friends and shooting a great match, but it just wouldn't be the same. like reneet, said earlier if gas and lodging are at a premium, why should i use it when others need it. good luck and god bless......... trapr

i agree with what pacman said, however on one occassion a member of our squad, forgot to take his slugs with him, i believe it was stage 6, at which point why would he not be able to shoot the plate with his handgun? then what keeps a person from "accidently" not taking enough ammo with them to finish a stage, the gun still works but ammo limitations keep him from completeing the course. on a side note, i think the pistol stages should have used targets a bit further out. the difficulty level was low. you could engage about 90% or more from 5 yds. if stage 8 had been a pistol stage with paper targets instead of clays that would have been a very nice stage, IMO. including the plates. maybe next year?
