i just met merlin the other day, i've never seen someone back himself into a corner as fast as he did, and then 15 minutes later ask if he had introduced himself. this of course was due to SCOUT walking into benny hill's shop ahead of me. i also think merlin had someone else type all that stuff for him cuz, theres no way he could stay off the phone long enuf to do it himself. good to meet you merlin, see ya agin some time. trapr

Winchester 1oz Loads At 1350fps In A Benelli?
bigbrowndog replied to smokshwn's topic in Shotgun - Technical
i've not run those specific rounds thru my M1, but have run 1oz AA's with no problem, and some 1oz @ 1140fps thru it with no problem. to date, if my memory serves me right, the only thing that didn't run 100% was speer low recoil slugs. i say buy'em and use for practice. trapr sorry, gun set up is unmodified, trapr -
i have a buddy that told me a great story once...... he has a van, that he bought cheap, that he likes to use for construction work, because it keeps his tools and equipment dry, in bad weather, and safe when its parked somewhere. but the transmission doesn't work, and keeps failing to stay in gear, so he loses alot of work because he can't get to the jobsite. i thought that was the best story about reliable equipment, that costs more versus equipment you like and can save money on, that i'd ever heard. if you really want to shoot 3 gun, i'm sure there would be someone at a match that would allow you to borrow a shotgun, while you save money for the best you can get. i hope no offense has been taken......if you have doubts about reliability of the 11-87, or concerns. i'll call daniel horner (AMU) for you and have him give you a call back, he switched after his comp. master gave him fits.

Table Starts For Rifle/shotgun
bigbrowndog replied to Yar1180's topic in Rifle & Shotgun - Technique
the euro guys actually have some interesting start positions, that you don't see here. what kurt, says is true though, its alot like draws with a pistol, the only time it becomes extremely important is when you're going to be doing alot of them, like steel challenge. otherwise safe and sure is better than fast and unsure. find a way you're comfortable with and practice it alot. and then practice it some more. trapr -
Table Starts For Rifle/shotgun
bigbrowndog replied to Yar1180's topic in Rifle & Shotgun - Technique
one of the things you can do with a shotgun fitted with a side saddle, is stand it up (loading port down) on a table, just put shells in the side saddle and it should stand with no problem. you will have to let the buttstcok hang off the end of the table. -
in all seriousness......like i could be serious!!!!! the perfect 3 gun rifle would be one that would put your fired rounds on target. not elsewhere as has been proven, all you really need is a 2 minute rifle, so put your extra money into ammo. the jp ctr-02 is pretty cool though. my 1/2 cents worth...........trapr

it seems that the scoring program is to blame for yet another, match........ark. 3 gun was and is a great match, i definetly intend on shooting again. it is quite unbelievable for me that i zero'd a stage and was able to come out on top(pistol stage). if its correct, its amazing, if it works out that i'm not, its understandable. either way that match was enjoyable, memorable, fun, brutal, weather conditions were extreme, match crew was excellent,.......sounds a little like i'm describing SMMG? (insert terminator voice).......i'll be back! see ya'll soon trapr p.s. if i did win LTD, i'm paying matt mink back for coming to texas and winning.

i too would like to thank the match crew, for a very well run match, and a very understanding squad 1, that let my roomy and i leave early after the last stage to go take care of a late check out. the dawg, was happy to be stayin' at home in the AC, man it was hot. i was thinkin' how nice it would be to be in mesa, again. congrats, to all the winners. it was good to see daniel horner shootin' agin, and the rest of the AMU, even hollywood. those of you that didn't get to see MEL, in his pumps really didn't miss much. although he did shave his legs for it. . i look forward to shooting the match next year.........Trapr

bigbrowndog replied to bpowe's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
i just got to work????? i drove from the match, home....dropped off the dog, and the guns, and then drove 90 miles more so i could go to work. but man was it a great match, dispite me giving matt an unsurmountable, head start, on the first stage. (@#$%^*&$# extractor) we had a good squad and a fun match. i'm sorry the san angelo boys & girls didn't get a better turnout, maybe next year? professor: thank you, thank you, thank you, and scout thanks you. bill, fred, kelly, kenny, and spouses, thanks for a great job. Saiga 12 Reloading Advantage?
bigbrowndog replied to SinistralRifleman's topic in Shotgun - Technical
naw!!! i don't think you're really as good with a shotgun as you are with putting up with texans. good luck in denmark buddy, and don't forget a 2min. rifle just ain't gonna cut it. -
i have used the same globe front site setup you show, and really like it......however i remember shooting better without it. so i took it off for this years shooting and lo and behold....the regular post and a2 sight did allow me to shoot better. i guess its like kurt said, the globe just covers too much target and background up. i've gone back to my removeable front sight (post thinned to .030), and standard a2 rear, my longrange shooting has improved considerably. like kurt said, some target/background contrast makes a big difference. just shoot your irons alot, and it all falls into place. trapr
