  1. the slobber that comes from my dog has been called" PRO-SLIP", perhaps he would let you use the name. trapr
  2. OKAY, apparently you haven't found it yet.....keep looking. good to see you again buddy, hope to see you again soon. trapr
  3. I too, would like to thank mikey for his tolerance to ALL the backseat driving!!!! as usual the british hospitality was top drawer. to all the brits, suisse, germans, greeks, italia's, serbs, and especially myro.....Thank you for a wonderful time, i look forward to seeing you all again soon. mikey did you find the LAST practical joke????? trapr
  4. yeah, scott is the first name and trapr is the middle, IPSC doesn't care that you go by TRAPR, they just want your first name for paperwork. the match was, as mister burns sez" EXCELLENT" the ammo issue was aggravating, we were informed that remington and winchester ammo was available, however it turned out to be just slugs and buckshot. Kurt had ammo brought over from UK that he knew would run in his gun. None of the foreign ammo that I had shot before was available locally, It was kinda like the benelli didn't want to eat the stuff at first but then it got used to it and ran. but the first day was, really bad.... 7 stages and just one that was acceptable. the second day, was much better, as well as the third. the stages were very technical, which i personally like. tight no shoot steel, and the dust from the range was bad, steel plates on the ground caused other targets to become obscured by the dust, and it was easy to overlook an unhit target. the setting and city was great, the people of the city were friendly, driving on the streets was an absolute adventure. The other teams were very friendly, and the "big brown dog" left his mark on alot of new territory. All in All, I highly recommend an offshore shooting event, if you get the chance. Trapr
  5. I had the same problem, only when i used GI or metal mags. they would go in super slick if they were plastic mags. I could not get it to work with metal mags, so i now always reload to an orlite or thermold mag. I only use metal mags when i can start with them and insure that they are seated. You might try some Orlite or thermold mags, i know you shouldn't have to but it was the simplest fix for me. I was also loading my mags down by 2 rounds, and it didn't seem to help. Trapr
  6. the key is.......pick something and practice it. so many people complain that the shotgun outcome in a match is decided, by how fast you can load. well think about how poorly you would do if you couldn't load your pistol, quickly. it also seems these people try to avoid loading practice.....which i doubt they did with te pistol. granted some peoples build and hand size is better suited to one at a time, just practice what method you want to use. Trapr
  7. KURT, i know when i started, i fumbled shells, and when i get in a hurry i fumble shells. GUESS WHAT FIXES THAT.......PRACTICE AND DON'T HURRY, AND THEN PRACTICE SOME MORE. a friend of mine made a great analogy, "the shells want to go into the gun, if you try and force them they fight back"........so don't force them. holding 3,4,or 5 shells in your hand and trying to stuff them into your gun, can make for a very humbling experience, as opposed to one at a time. just look at it as making us...... UNIQUE!!! I started out 3gun using the cooley twist, and occasionally still do, when space constraints are small, which is rare. it is a very easy way to start out in 3 gun. trapr
  8. benny made a new rolling thunder comp for his, heavy metal gun so i know he can do it. trapr
  9. keith, could you send his contact info?
  10. does anyone know, or can someone direct me to a person that would know, wether or not the remington 700 bottom metal that utilizes detachable mags, could easily be converted to work on the weatherby mk V action, caliber is 300 win mag. i'm looking at badger bottom metal, with AI mags. the actions are the same length, i'm not real sure on the hole spacing(screws). stock would likely be mac a5 or a3. Don't Ask....i really like things complicated Trapr
  11. i would suggest go with DSA, for the manufacturer. my FAL had a 16" barrel, but i would recommend 18" as a minimum, thin the front sight post, get a flip rear aperture similar to AR's, and a really good comp!! kelly neal could probably help you out with some other particulars, he has shot his a bit more than i have mine, in competition. Trapr
  12. KURT, remember the line from "Backdraft"....." you go we go" buddy, pal,.....I go, yugo.....better yet we throw NEIL, in the med and drink his booze. trapr
  13. AHHH....ALCOHOL, the cause of, and solution to, all of life's little problems. Homer, knew what he was talkin' about...... see ya soon buddy trapr by the way...the comment about the RO's not having the experience to make a call on a hit bird, was based on the fact that it is a relatively new target, and one that as a whole is difficult to call due to the other factors i mentioned.
  14. george, how are you gonna prove years of service.........i like it, but how do you prove it? trapr
  15. about the gimmick target system that is in use by 3 gunners, for throwing clays " that have been in use for years by skeet, sporting clays, and trap shooters" the centrifugal force used to spin the targets, in order to get them to FLY. actually aids in the destruction, once they are hit. i have at my disposal several excellent "clays" shooters., this allows me to get informed about clays sports set up, it is amazing the amount detail that goes into the setup to ensure that targets will be easy or hard, it is also easy for someone that is used to looking only at the bird to determine wether or not it has been struck by a golden BB, the RO's at a 3 gun match generally do not have the experience to make that determination. also in our sport, the bird is in the air for a much shorter time period, on a much less predictable flight path. a slight deviation in the flight path is much easier to determine when the bird is FLYING, as opposed to TUMBLING. the birds in our sport tend to tumble for about 3-5 seconds, whereas FLYING birds are up for aprox, 5-8 seconds, almost double the time. in a sport where missing just one bird in 100, can put you in 4th or 5th place, or worse. the RO's have become more astute at what a hit bird looks like. our Ro's have to be aware of gun handling, foot faults, and other stuff... this is more than 6 lines i have a headache. trapr
  16. OK , i vote NO AZ prosecutors, everyone else is OK. even gynacolologists..... trapr
  17. this bantering back and forth, is giving me a headache, especially when there are more than 5 or 6 lines to read..........i think its time to "lighten up francis" neil, i look forward to lighter discussions while sitting on the beach, with a drink in our hands. trapr
  18. jeff, i thought you wanted to leave early?????? i drove out to the range today to get some practice, and they were having a BBQ and the only bay i could practice on was closed. soooooo....i'm in the house loading in the A/C. neil, i think all four of us arrive on the first, i hope we all arrive on the first we're all on the same plane. see you there trapr like kurt said and benelli 2 seconded, i also wrote that targets that cannot be verified after the COF is over should not be utilized. nuf sed!!!!
  19. kurt, just make sure you get those rifle flippers...........WIRED. you don't want a catastrophic failure. jeez...can we leave yet, i'm tired of practicin' trapr
  20. i missed not being there myself. but it uses too much vacation and money, and i needed it, i leave for greece in a few days.......european shotgun championships, as a member of the us standard team. see ya buddy trapr
  21. so do fire department arson investigators, get to be LE?????? relax guys i'm not one....i'm just a fire grunt. trapr
  22. neil, i was looking at stage20, and figured 20 secs to shoot all targets (120pts), HF 6.0. do it in 16 secs. and do not shoot the disappearing clays(90pts) HF 5.6. obviously 6.0 is better than 5.6, however miss just one of the disappearing clays HF 5.5. it will take some looking at to figure it out. it depends on how easy it is to get all the disappearing clays??????? see you soon......trapr
  23. i believe in the ESC match they will be using disappearing, clays that look like they will be verifyable, if a target cannot be verified that it was hit after the COF is over it should not be used in a match. opinion, favoritism, bias, and simple oversight, should not be encouraged in scoring a match! the targets in the ESC match appear to be verifyable after the COF is over, however after figuring out time and points, with HF they still do not appear to be worth engaging, and they will be worth double points. closer inspection of the COF, will tell for sure....it would be nice to have Mr. Hill's opinion available, he always seems to be able to figure stuff like that out rather quickly.
  24. Mikey.... Jeff's our shooter, only we can harass him like that!!!!! besides we were getting someone else to hold the clays for us, we didn't want any missing digits before the big match. the trick was to break them before they hit the ground, and with the unloaded gun its not as easy as it sounds. trapr
